Sitting Duck Dragons Bug

They just sit there waiting to get killed. At first I thought it was because I stiffled one with arrows, but following that all my dragons just sit and wait to get killed. They occaisonally will breath fire, but no longer close range combat, and most of the time sit there to get pucked off by arrows.
I tried restoring defaults and repalying dragon battles, but nothing has changed.
I will see if a new game will work.
Any suggestions, similar problems? <_<

EDIT: I just searched for "Dragons" on PC technical support forum and there are three threads dating from 8-9 months ago with the same problem. Only one (who had 1.0.2a installed at that time) got answered at all, and no solution was found.

I just finally upgraded to 1.0.4 and the dragon is her good old self, spitting and kicking and shredding my party to pieces. I was actually thinking: "YES! That's how I like you, baby!" So, the problem seems to be solved with 1.0.4. Or isn't it?

I don't know enough about the "inner workings" of DA:O to give "safe" advice. I rummaged around my DA:O installation and you MIGHT try this, which MIGHT work: Go to your Documents:BioWare:Dragon Age:Settings folder and open DragonAge.ini (make a backup copy first!). Then look for the paragraph called [GameOptions] and the line IniVersion. If it says 1040, then the updater MIGHT think it already updated to 1.0.4. You MIGHT try to change the line to 1030, start DAO and see what happens.
OR, if it says IniVersion=1030 or something similar and you think the update was successful, you might try changing it to 1040.
OR you might try hitting "Restore Defaults" in the launcher screen. But make a backup of your Documents:BioWare:Dragon Age:Characters folder first! (Which is where your characters and savegames are stored.)
I'm just supposing things here, maybe someone else knows more... I'm not taking responsibility if your savegames are lost, or you have to reinstall everything, or your computer explodes or eats your cat or becomes a Black Hole.
If something works, please post your result here!

No, the game kept asking on startup "a new version is available" etc. And I hit "yes", gave permission to alter "dragon age origins.app" and it downloaded and installed on its own. That's it.

I tried this 1st but it did not work.
In my replies to my previous post with this same issue - I simply re-installed my DA:O game and had it overwrite my current game files. Upon start up, it updated 2 separate times and I now successfully have been updated to v1.04 and all of my previous game files and DLC are in tact.
