My two cents:
The npcs, Ariane and Finn, are pretty interesting and a pleasant surprise.
Both of them are more multi-faceted and way better than the extremely weak ones that were tossed in in other DLC.
For instance, I found the npcs in Leliana's song, extremely disappointing. They frankly were just cannon fodder, pure fillers that were meant to back you up.
I'm adamant about the fact that unless the npcs are accurately developed (DAO were good, DAA were ok) it would be preferable not to include them. Better to travel alone or with just one solid npc than with a bunch of shallow ones. (maybe I'm just a Planescape Torment nostalgic-fanatic, where all your 6 companions were outstanding.)
Moving on, the plot: it opens up pretty well, the meeting with Ariane and the recruiting of Finn is interesting.
Problems arise during the 2nd act, the elven ruins in particular are a bit too weak and the final part in the DragonBone Wastes just plain boring.
Why?
Because the Dragon Bone Wastes had no reason to be included.
Let me stress I'm not against re-using old settings per se - in fact I did like the return to the Circle of Magi Tower or to Flemeth's Hut - but the Dragonbone Wastes were just tossed in with no rationale.
The final encounter with Morrigan had no bug in my playthrough (Did the DR with my human arcane warrior and imported an Awakening save) and wasnt bad, but neither great as it didnt provide any closure.
Yes, the key word is CLOSURE. That is what everyone was expecting and looking for. It is inevitable to feel slightly cheated by the fact Bioware neglected to close this storyline. As it is blatantly evident to any storyteller what the story lacked. An Ending, No more loose ends.
In other words, do not misunderstand me, I did enjoy the DLC (7/10) but the premises werent fulfilled. You do meet Morrigan and get some tidbits of info about what is going to happen in the foreseeable future (I bet Hawke in DA2 would have to deal with Flemeth and this upcoming CHANGE) but I cant deny that I was expecting a better work.
If they werent willing to give us all the answers regarding the Old God Child, they should have at least provided some partial ones, rather than nada de nada.
In conclusion, Act 1 is good, Act 2 a bit boring, Act 3 inconclusive...unless you opt for a certain choice...that I wont mention to avoid spoilers.
Great to play The Warden a last time, disappointing to have another abrupt ending.
Playthrough Length: 2h and 46min.
so would you say it's worth buying
P.S. this was a very helpful read I apperciate it
For what it is sure. It's not bad and certainly as entertaining as Return To Ostergar. It;s just as with all DA:O DLC it all seems a bit lacklustre storyline wise.

Bug noticed, probably one stemming back to DA:O. The DLC didn't recognize that I did the ritual. Probably because I did it, but avoided having a final convo, which changes the relationship status.

So, would you guys say this final DLC is worth the buy?
Wait until it gets patched. In MY opinion alone, I'd say it's worth it. It's not that expensive anyway.

After. The plot won't make sense without completing the game.

OK guys. I have just finished the ME2 dlc and was blown away by its awesomeness and attention to detail. Now I move my attentions to DA. However, since Ive been a little upset over the waste of 2400msp's on awakening last weekend, I thought i'd get a quick consensus on whether Witch Hunt is worth it. As it is the last dlc for DA:O, does it bring things to a satisfactory conclusion and did it meet expectations?
I thought the DLC was really fun, in terms of bringing a solid conclusion to the storyline.... id say no.

Anyway I for one quite enjoyed this dlc, it had some nice touches to it, but did feel a bit rushed/abrupt at the end. Would have liked to have seen a little bit more, but maybe that's the point. Got to keep us hungry so we all pre-order DA2 in desperation for the next fix

I mean, it is $7, a drink ;-)

Unlike many that have posted, I'm neither surprised nor disappointed. Many were annoyed that a 2-3 hour DLC was supposed to be the wrap-up to the story. Well, it asks as many questions as it answers, and that's fine. It isn't like we didn't know full well Morrigan was going to pop up again, si a few mysteries are to be expected.
I'll grant that the description on the game's website is misleading. It suggests an more definitive conclusion.

Well it's not a solid conclusion to the storyline in that there's still plenty unanswered, but my ending was a decent enough conclusion for the Warden's influence in Ferelden.
