Dead on. The highlight of the DLC wasn't Morrigan, it was a simple on-liner, "Warden, your dog is lecturing me again." And it was delivered early on.FieryDove wrote...

I feel Morrigan deserved a entire expansion and no dlc would do her justice no matter what. The getting answers thing and just getting even more questions is very upsetting. Imho as always...

Hey, I agree with him. Lair of the Shadow Broker was a much better conceived and executed DLC than Witch Hunt. I'll take constructive criticism over fanboy, rah-rah, sycophantic apologists any day.
As will I, but I see nothing constructive about his last post. It's just a crudely phrased rant at BioWare.
Just a reminder to everyone: I know it's tough when you're passionate about something (either liking it or hating it), but let's keep the comments constructive and let's refrain from personal attacks (i.e. name-calling such as 'troll') and don't circumvent the swear filters. It's the same as actually swearing, and that's not allowed here.

As for the review of Witch Hunt in Gamespot, it's spot-on. It's worth mentioning that the reviewer gave a 9.5 / 10 to DA:O, so he's definitely not a hater.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the 'forced' character of Hawke (and I really don't care for the name either), but I'm willing to see how it plays out. I think, since we're going to get to see more of Thedas in DA2 as well as a different perspective on events related to the DA:O events, that a new character makes much more sense than forcing our warden into an extension of his (IMO) already finished story.
Oh man, I'm off topic here. Apologies. Let's turn this back to Witch Hunt I haven't completed Witch Hunt (waiting for the patch at this point), so I can't comment on how it does or doesn't provide 'closure' (how I hate that term), but I'll likely revisit it once I've completed the DLC.

Anyhow, I'm sad to hear bad things about Witch Hunt. It was an unexpected surprise to get an email today that mentioned more DLC. Normally I ignore this kind of stuff but when I read the description I was like "oh wow" because I realized that this was something that was actually pertinent to my Warden's story. Naturally that draws me in.
I don't like to spoil things for myself but I'm going to head over to YouTube to check out some footage of it. Of course I know I'll end up buying it anyway. This particular DLC is just a must-have if it's considered canon and will import. I'm just hoping I won't end up feeling as disappointed as a lot of people here seem.
EDIT: Just watched a few vids. The ending doesn't seem so bad...? o_0 I mean, sure it doesn't answer every single little question but... it is a conclusion without a doubt. It's the end, and it may serve to have unforeseen ramifications in the future, which is why I'd assume we can't have every answer. But eh.. I'll save my real judgment for when I play it this afternoon or this evening if I find the time.

Most will get Dragon Age 2, I still would. And yes, sometimes we don't have to have an answer. But don't advertise about it and then still basically gave us nothing.
Because of Mass Effect (and all of Bioware's games), although I was livid about not able to play as my warden, I was willing to accept. I loved my pals and I want to continue with them. But now, I already hate the idea of Hawke and I am actually angry! Are you kidding me? Angry about a game?!!!
Fine, it's short. Fine, my new companions I could kill without hesitation. Fine, it's linear. Fine, wasted treasures & level ups. But there are some decent moments where it raises your expectation so high, with the trailer in mind most of us could have thought of a better way to end this and still advertise about DA 2!!!
I'd give Bioware $ 7.00 just because they have consistently brought so much joy. But with Witch Hunt they owe us an apology.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't particularly want to see 'my warden' carry through to the sequels. For one thing, that would mean more levels and even higher level play, and that's something that I find invariably leads to overpowered characters and tedious game play. I also like creating new characters and building a story for that new character. I feel my warden's story is pretty well done with.

You know, all Gothics have the same Nameless Hero and no matter how powerful he ended in the previous game, he'll start at level 1 in the next game and with some cool explation for that too.
I've started to play WH when Battle.net was under maintenance but I didn't get too much excited with it, specially after I read in a thread about it. The one that Chris double posted the lockdown.. hehehe
I was hoping for something like Leliana's DLC. I wanted to play Morrigan escaping from a Witch Hunt or something. And now this GameSpot review... at least I learned a new word, as English is not my primary... Vapid... lol.
Oh, forgot to ask. What is this bug that a 7 bucks DLC will require a patch to fix? I'm glad Bnet maintenance was pretty fast so I'm back to SC2 while waiting for a patch. It will not take months to be done like the expansion's patch, will it? And then it didn't fix some issues because it wasn't "possible"?

First off, this DLC was beyond disappointing.
Secondly, I've seen some talk about a "bug".
My character ended up marrying Allistair and becoming Queen. We accomplished this by letting Morrigan sleep with Allistair and conceive a bastard child by him. But in this DLC, she says I refused her the ritual--but I didn't. Is this the bug everyone keeps talking about?
Because seriously, it's bad enough that my character get little recognition for actually being a ruler (okay, I'm a snob)...but even worse that I get to frustratingly watch dialogue about my character describing things that never happened. I would've loved more of an option like, "Where's the child you conceived by my husband, you harlot? You're both going to die."
Y'know, not that I'm vindictive or anything.
So is there a patch coming out to fix this or something?

Yeah, that bug. Characters imported from the post-epilogue of DAO (every save after you leave the coronation room after killing the Archdemon) will have Morrigan behaving as if the Dark Ritual was not performed.
A patch is coming out - actually, according to the last news, it was supposed to come out yesterday.

No, they said they hoped to have it out yesterday. Obviously, that didn't happen. I haven't seen a status update on it today.

Other things Bioware owes us an apology for (according to many of the frequenters of the offcial Bioware forums)
Ammo clips in Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 2 in general
Broken character creators
Every piece of DLC they've released
Dragon Age Origins in general
Not having enough Rape in Dragon Age (Seriously)
etc... etc... etc...
My biggest issue with the complaints Bioware has received about Dragon Age is that people seem to forget Dragon Age's world was set up to be similar to any other fantasy world. Huge with a ton of places for different stories to take place. An example being the world of the Elder Scrolls with Cyrodil, Morrowing, Skyrim etc...
Bioware spoiled gamers with Mass Effect by creating a series of games where you get to continue with the same characters over several adventures with your choices having consequences.
Dragon Age Orgins was never intended to be the first game in a trilogy. Due to this I fail to see any reason why answer definite answer on Morrigan is necessary. If they were so inclined they could make Dragon Age 3 take place 500 years after the Blight in DAO and have it set in Antiva.
As far as Witch Hunt. It was okay. I'll agree I'd have liked to see more effort go into the DLC. For me I'd have rather seen a new DLC origin tied into the main campaign than a few modules but whatever.

-nah you aren't the only one, I agree that my warden needs to retire. A fresh start is always best.
I would agree, having a premade character ruins the personalization in a way, but who knows how it will play out.
There is no closure in the DLC

Well... the problem was being told "Confront Morrigan in this dramatic conclusion to the Origins storyline." My thoughts of a dramatic conclusion to an awesome game would be... a godly ending.

but the story was weeeeaak. i did like ariane and finn. but.. i mean their joining you was insanely random and poorly written, especially finn.
the other thing that bothers me is the last autosave is... before you fight the strider. meaning even if you can import from this file, you might as well have imported from awakening, because this and golems have 0 decisions that are imported. so what's the point of this dlc? well you find out more about the mirror's which is cool if you were dalish, and you can talk to morrigan and have nothing special revealed. overall it was satisfying enough simply because i could have one last adventure with my warden

I believe that's one of the bugs they're fixing. My understanding is there's an autosave that's supposed to fire at the end, but it doesn't.

Yes, that's one of the bugs. Another is the fact the autosave at the end of Witch hunt doesn't fire. They're currently working on a patch.
Quick question: if we've already played through Witch Hunt, will we have to re-play our Warden in order to create the autosave? Or will we simply have to reload the last save and go through the last encounter again?
