This DLC really makes me want to romance Liara now lol. I was crossing my fingers even though I rejected her in the first game, maybe there would be second chance. Oh well, it gives me more replay options.

Also, all the bonuses in the Shadow Broker lair is freakin sweet. Re-spec Squadmates and unlocking Special Planets for resources. Very Nice.

I don't think you unlock planets, per se, you just pay to learn about a planet that's already rich in a given element--save time searching for one.

Although the only case in which you really need such a hint is an Element Zero planet, the prices are inconsequential enough that you can probably afford to let the survey terminal take some of the work off your shoulders.

Save yourself, y'know, a bit of planet-probing time.

Is anyone else reading this thread thinking the praise is a little too much for LotSB? Someone said that it was better than the suicide mission... to that I give an emphatic h-e-double hockey sticks no.

I still think Overlord was better in the story aspect, the ending of that DLC was awesome. SB had more humor (dossiers) and also great combat, but ME is about the story. I found the story lacking vs. Overlord.

The SB story has been nicely building since Shep's 1st conversation with Udina/Anderson in the Citadel in early ME1, No??

I thought the SB story started out fantastic but the DLC killed the anticipation. The Shadow Broker is supposed to be just as good, if not better, at getting information than TIM. Sadly, he was no where near as cool or enigmatic as TIM. Liara "feeling" that she needs to be the Shadow Broker was corny to me. The Shadow Broker does everything whether it's good or bad, and most of the time -- it's pretty bad. She doesn't fit into that area AT ALL from my perspective. She gets information, sure, but she isn't as ruthless as the past Shadow Broker(s). It was all a bit too hokey for me.

I had high hopes for the Shadow Broker as a figure and he failed to live up to my expectations of him in *most* ways. In certain areas his information gathering ability seemed great (video, especially of Jacob on your own ship), but in others it seemed like he was amateurish.

Ignore ExtremeOne, people. He's a troll. And a poor one at that.

Anyhoo... funny way to easily breeze through the "Truckloads of SB jokers" right after Vasir crashes at Hotel Azure...

You have to have someone with Area Pull (you or Jack/Jacob/Samara), and someone else with ShieldJack (you or Tali) Right as one of the paddywagons lands, use shieldjack on the engi in the group. Then fire your area pull into the group. You now have proverbial fish in a barrel. You know what to do.

It worked on Veteran level with L3 shieldjack.

EDIT: It occurred to me... alternately, drop a singularity in there after the shieldjack.  Conveniently, Liara has one if you don't.

I understand and take your point although I dont necessarily agree with it.  I was just making the point that I've been wondering about the SB since about 30mins into my very 1st playthrough of ME1.  Overlord whilst very very good, was about the human/geth creation going rogue and the risk it then presented.  It didnt grip me, and make me think about about all the possibilities like the SB story has done.  My point was only about the story aspect.

Hiya,

I was wondering what the whole terminals at the end were actually for. The ones with the missions including "Smear campaign". Are they extra missions you can do, or stuff that you get shadow broker operatives to do and could affect the storyline later?

Cheers

My point was about the story aspect as well. The implications of the VI getting out of control were actually pretty catastrophic (if you die when fighting David, the VI uploads to the normandy and would spread from there) but I see what you mean -- the whole Shadow Broker saga is a lot more appealing and has been talked about for a long time now.

All I'm saying is that, given the two DLCs --- one about a previously never-before-heard-of rogue VI and another about a well established, powerful but enigmatic character (SB) the latter should deliver a much larger punch than the former. What I mean to say is that LotSB is a good DLC, it's just not nearly as epic or awesome as it could or should have been. Like I said, this guy is the Shadow Broker. He was TIM's rival in the information world and probably one of the biggest players in all of the galaxy. I just felt his story should have been something much more epic to compensate for his "awesomeness" that was already established since ME1. In fact when Shepard confronted the Shadow Broker I expected a long winded talk about the Shadow Broker's dealings and power... only to have none of it. It was just a hostile confrontation and then boom, he's dead. A huge missed opportunity to flesh him out I feel like. And while the dossiers are amusing/somewhat helpful to understanding your crew there isn't much else to learn about HIM.

Meh, I get plenty of fun with beatdowns as it is, since I'm at point-blank already...  However... Are all these eezo nodules embedded in my Shep's body for nothing?  Why didn't my Shep biotically catch his own fall after diving at Vasir out the window?

Yes, it was pretty badass. I also like that the vids proved that the Asari Bartender was Liara's father afterall.

Apologies if this has been asked already, but what are the differences if you play it before embarking on the suicide mission? I know that story-wise, it's essentially meant to happen post-SM, but I was just curious as to what dialogue was different, if at all.

I hope with the stats they just released about how more than 50% of ME2 players imported an ME1 save file AND the huge success of a DLC centered around an ME1 squadmate and mystery figure...that BioWare finally realizes what makes the fans happy. Develop the characters, expand the story we've been following since the very beginning... and give us Kaidan/Ashley/Wrex/Anderson/Hackett!! We will throw money at you!!

Does anyone think that maybe all the info you read in the dossiers is leading up to the next DLC? Give us a chance for more character involvement with our squad and also with key figures like Aria and Anderson. Who was that one guy in the vids they kept showing? Mike or Mark something? He wore a suit like Udina's.

Ohhhh!!! I didn't realise it was the bartender. I was like "so why does this woman have a portrait of Liara"

Haha thanks.

Sorry if this has been asked before, didn't want to scan through 40 pages (!).

Mass Effect wiki says that you can get Shepard's old dog tags for your cabin. I'm kind of a completionist, but I missed it the first time through. I'm playing it again now, does anyone know where you can pick these up?

Liara gave them to me when I invited her back to the Normandy for a drink.

Mostly to question how driven she was, to the point of coldness.

Im not sure if its the same one, but there are two close to each other - and one of them is Shepard calling Liara out for bailing on him after he didn't get up once he fell out the window and pursuing the Spectre.

Liara's response is, more or less, that she knew you'd be fine and had to focus on the mission.

Basically, those interrupts are "Liara, are you losing your empathy?" and she says, "Look, I've got important stuff to do."
