Now, on my 4th playthrough, I gambled. This is my experimental character who actually had a romance with our favorite blueling, and well: If you want to keep your current LI, then, in the end don't choose the 'Hug her' option as the game will recognize the comforting act as a mating ritual. (Oh come on, guys at BioWare, you haven't ever hugged a women out of friendship when she was down?)
So
- for the semi-forced romance with no indication
- for the former SB itself.
Of course it's a matter of preference. The character itself was right, even the suit that gave him a comical relief, but the Machine Gun with a Shield, it was too much comics for me. But again, it's highly depends on the player.
Still the best DLC up to this date.
Uh no. I hugged Liara. I was a bit worried when she asked to come up to my room... and I chose "some time" and Shepard said "it's a date." So then I went back and said no, and Shepard was a jerk to her. So then I said "f it" and invited her up to see what the scene would be like, hoping I wouldn't get like a "YOU CHEATED ON TALI!" achievement. So Liara walks into the room all sexy and Shepard is pouring two glasses of wine. "Oh dang, it's gonna happen," I thought. But no, they just had a nice chat. Maybe it's because I chose not to romance anyone in ME1, maybe it's because I kept the conversation civil and said "Yes" when Liara asked if my motivation was getting Tali a planet, but Shepard and Liara never did the deed and Tali is still the girl I can call up to my room.
So no, you DON'T have to romance Liara if you hug her.
I loved the SB, personally. A new character and race revealed in one. The suit made me chuckle, too. And I thought his armament and armor were totally BA. And heck, Geth lay down like portable shields, why would it be a far stretch to say that someone might have a permanent one?
One thing I didn't like, though, was the Paragon interupts after defeating the Spectre. I was like "yeah, time to do some awesome Paragon stuff!" and Shepard totally just whined. And there were like 2 or 3 in a row there, so it's not like I'll remember which one was the whiny one the next time I play. And it plays RIGHT AFTER the boss fight which is pretty long, so you'd have to redo the entire boss just to change your decisions (and you'd have to wait for the cutscenes to play out, the game to load the Shadow Broker's ship, etc. just to reload your game). But that's... the only realistic thing I didn't like about the DLC.
