That's Matriarch Aethyta, the bar tender in Eternity on Illium.

It makes me wonder why she has a picture of Liara. If Liara was just a regular customer at the bar, then she wouldn't need one, right?

Ooo, speculation. She could be Liara's "father" as her age seems to fit in with that, her and Liara could have had a little thing going on whilst Shepard was having a nap - I want to know :(

That seems to be the theory.  In your conversations with her she apparantly says that she has a pureblood daughter and mentions Benezia disdainfully (I don't recall but others have said so).

Well here's another round of praise for LOTSB --- having purchased that and the Morrigan story for DA --- I'd say the folks that came up with LOTSB launched 2 torpedoes and sank it.

Probably not the best place to rant... but... geez. You want to talk about short, to the point...and lacking. I was like ok....and....you...wha? Awful content.

But LOTSB definitely raised the stakes indeed.

The previews and trailer was more exciting.

Maybe that's just me, but as far as atmosphere and story-telling is concerned ME2 (and ME too, in fact) was much more powerful, and more up to date too. DA is more like a nostalgic, back to Baldur's Gate thing. Not fair to compare LOTSB to Witch Hunt. (I did not play the latter.)

I felt that, apart from the end of LotSB, it really wasn't that special in terms of story or atmosphere. Maybe I'm immune to it all, but it never struck me as an overly powerful story. Yes, the Shadow Broker is an important character, but it didn't feel epic. I didn't feel any sense of danger on the outside of his ship (even after Liara said how dangerous it would be, which is also mentioned in Redemption and I think Retribution), I never felt that the Shadow Broker himself would kill me.

*Shrugs*

Two things bother me in this dlc:
the first one is Liara remaining in that stupid base. I have lost her for the second time...:pinched:
I don't need a Batcave with Liara as my "Oracle". I just want to detonate it like the Collector's one and go away with her.
The second one is the true identity of the Broker... The super uber mega crime lord leader was just... a random gears of war stylish monster... meh.<_<

Well, I think it depends on how emotionally connected you feel to Liara and ME in general. I have actually mastered the art to be afraid of ME death for example. Just imagine that in order to *really* beat the game you have to manage a complete playthough (on instanity) ME and ME2 without dying at all. How good that works depends on how good a role-player you are, but believe me, I distinctly remember a moment where I had to fight down fear to stay concentrated.

Nah. The true identity of the Broker remains unknown (as far as I know). That thing just took over what was already there a few decades ago. And as far as Liara is concerned... take away, personal = important, mutual possession-relationships are in high abundance in real life. (Which some people may find disturbing.) In ME you will have to settle for the life of a person who understands that personal is not the same as important, and that Liara does not exist to be his/her girlfriend, but rather that this is only her secondary role, and vice versa.

anyone know what different dialogue options there are depending on when you do the DLC? Like if you do it before or after collector base? IS there a thread where someone can point me to?

thanks

I agree with you. However, I'm still slightly disappointed about the, let's call it after-ending.
Besides the fact that I wish Ali Hillis had spoken her text with a little more emotion from time to time (she obviously can, and if she did the voice-acting that way because the director wanted it I hereby apologize to her) it just doesn't feel right when visiting her on her new base, and all she does is standing there unmoving in the generic upright npc stance, repeating 'glad you came by'.
Having her perform idle movements like your squadmembers when standing still yould make her very much more alive.
And I really do not want to go all fanboy, but having a cuddlesession with her like with the other loveinterests after beating the game (in her quarters instead of yours) should have been implemented, IMHO.
And, I keep wanting to give the bombing victims from the BTC some of my medigel for additional paragon points... :innocent:
This said, I'd buy LotSB again regardless. Great story, great car-chase minigame, great new locations!
Now, about the upcomming Ashley williams DLC... :D

The difference isn't that great. Vaesir mentions if you let Cerberus have the collector base or not but it's just one sentence and then the conversation with Liara aboard the SR2 is different.....longer and better imo if you haven't completed the suicide mission. So that's it.....no real difference to speak of. The actual benefits of this DLC such as the upgrades and the terminal to retrain the powers of your squad and so on will only benefit you if you haven't played the suicide mission.

I loved it (especially compared to the buggy and unsatisfying witch hunt). The only improvement I'd have liked was some comments from my squad mates, especially garrus/tali, but I guess the extra va costs prevented it.

One sort of bug I came across was with the character info: I was using a post sm save where Jacob was dead and I hadn't pick up kasumi till after the sm (was an old game that I finished before kasumi was released). I did find it slightly creepy to see that kasumi had still written the Jacob haiku's seeing as she'd never met him!

Hey, I just noticed: In the room where Liara is standing, that is the room where the former Shadow Broker got dust-ified, there are these... concrete pylons or columns right? Now, in my game there is one of them missing with cables hanging down from of the ceiling. I believe that this is the one column that actually got broken in the fight. In theory then, we should have different intel centers. Mine is missing the first column on the left if you enter from the docking bay. Can someone confirm that we do indeed have different intel centers due to this?

No different intel centers on my playthrough. But the same pillar was damaged and wires were sticking out and some panels were bent. There was a drone fixing it and after a couple visits the pillar was back to normal.

It reminds me more of jabba the hut with legs actually.
And Tela Vasir was just a reskinned shiala.

I really enjoyed LotSB. I played it first with my canon-shep who didn't romance Liara, and was pleasantly surprised that I still got a lot of content for my buck. And then when I played with a character who did romance her I was extremely pleased with how it was handled. The banter between shep and Liara was immensely entertaining and the two boss battles were fun as well. My only real wish was that if you brought Tali and Garrus they would say something since they knew Liara too.

Yeah, but I kinda see why they didn't do it.. it would have required to bring in the voice actors just for a few lines like the one we get on the citadel if climbing stairs.

True. And I'm not terribly broken up about it. It just would have been nice to see some interaction between characters other than shep and liara.

Yeah. Nice, but too expensive. Imagine the thunderstorm breaking loose if a DLC would cost twice the price because of it.

W/ LofSB done, there's talk of an Ash/Kaiden DLC.  Have to say that if they had a problem w/ Shep being w/ Cerberus they are going to sh*t a brick when they find out that s/he is shacking up w/ the new Shadow Broker.  ;)

Grunt's profile was funny but nowhere even remotely close to being as hilarious as Legion's gamer profile. 3 day account suspension for taunting rofl :o:D

Finally got around to playing LotSB, and pretty much loved every minute.  I played through with a femShep that romanced Liara in ME1 and was pleasantly surprised to see that both Shepard and Liara had got something of a personality infusion.  Their banter and occasional flirting helped lighten the otherwise dark mood of the mission, and if that's what Bioware means when they said that ME3 will be "darker but lighter" then by all means, gimme some of that.

I liked both boss fights (best in the game, though as a vanguard I found Vasir was cake, SB not so much) but on the downside I had issues with the level design.  You could shoot through the plants in those planters out front of Azure, but so could the mercs, which made finding your targets iffy.  Also, zigzagging back and forth along the outside of the Shadowbroker's ship's hull went on far too long.

As for the Shadowbroker's identity, it kind of reminded me of an episode of Doctor Who.  It's like they track down the big bad alien at the end of the episode and oh hey look, a giant horned toad with three jaws, qeue exposition.  Then he's defeated by some random cleverness and everyone goes home.

The real shocker came with the realization that the SB was gay, or maybe not actually a he.  Or is there some other explanation for his love affair with Jacob's abs that I'm not aware of?
