 having same issue here to,but i bought the ultimate edition and uninstalled origins, then reinstalled ultimate edition, help tech said the engineers were working on solving the problem.

I am here posting my problem as a support rep instructed me with "I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This is a temporary issue and our engineers are already aware of this. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible. I would advise you to please wait for some time and then try again to login and play the game online. If the issue persists, you can contact us again. We will be happy to assist you."

Here is my sequence of events:
-I have the Steam version of DAO: Ultimate Edition.
-A few days ago I was having the unauthorized issue but the Addins.xml trick to change RequiresAuthorization="1" to RequiresAuthorization="0".
-Once I did that I was able to play. So I created a new character and made my way through Return to Ostagar DLC quest, and then went on to the Circle Tower. The next day when resuming my game I noticed I had a lot of missing gear and items. So I tried to load a saved game in the Return the Ostagar quest, and I get "Unable to load module".
-So I tried to load a saved game at the end of Lothering and and that worked. I left Lothering and after camp I went to Bann Loern area and cleared that to get quest for Return to Ostagar again to see if starting it from the beginning would work. While it was trying to load Ostagar I got the message "Unable to load area."

I was sold a broken game and I'm not happy about it. I hope you take it seriously and somehow make it up to your loyal customers.

Bioware, a company i truly love, truly disappoints. PC retail version, same issue.

Oh, for the developers i should add that installed the game on my D: drive not under Program Files, if that makes a difference (running out of room on the C: drive).  I also read several websites and manually started the autoupdater and registered the game.  The only thing I can think of is when i redeemed my code it said "unrecognized object." I wonder if b/c I registered the game after I redeeded the code.  But the insert instrucdtions said to use the website while it was installing not after.

Also, how can this problem be just now? the game has been out for several months hasn't it? all tech support says to do is post here, even though some people claim chat was able to talk them through this.  Very frustrating.

I'm having the same problems. I've contacted the ea support and they keep saying 24 to 48 hours it will be fixed. Does anyone know when it will be fixed? I've became addicted to this and i'm having withdraws.

I also purchased the Ultimate edition and can't access any DLC content. It shows up in the log as "Unauthorized". Hoping it gets taken care of.

What is going on? I bought this game: Ultimate Edition Dragon Age Origins/Dragon Age Awakening which came with "The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, The Darkspawn Chronicles, Leliana's Song, The Golem's of Amgarrak, Witch Hunt, and more" as it states on the box. I have played through several characters with no problem, and tonight it says my DLC's are unauthorized. What is this about? They are "authorized" as they have always been, since buying the Ultimate Edition. Please fix this now.

For those of you who are posting newly in the thread:

The Authorization process that EA uses to check if your DLC is legitimate and tied to your account seems to be having issues. There are some work-arounds (one of which has been posted in the thread) but they are being met with small success (I know it did not work for me).

Unfortunately we are at the whim of when the techs can fix it. It sucks, there's not much you can do about it, and hopefully EA takes what happens here seriously and fixes it quickly but I suggest taking a breather and playing another game. Not much else to be done.

Well I got a reply from Support and they know its an issue which is in the process of being fixed, in fact they pointed me to this thread. If you play the game logged out all your DLC's should still appear as enabled.
The only thing I'm not sure of is whether any saves in "offline" mode will work once the servers are up and running correctly, that would be a bummer. However this is my 3rd play through as a different character, so no biggie. I've got DA2 which I haven't started yet..... so can always skip to that. :0

BI51, your saves are stored on your computer and nowhere else. The only information stored on EA servers is screenshots, story updates, etc. May people play offline most of the time and it shouldn't affect your saves. When you are online, the game asks for authorization. When you are offline it can't, so it doesn't ask. Authorization not required.

Everyone, have a look at the thread in my signature. There are answers and workarounds there which work for most people.

I installed my DAO this friday and have been waiting for my DLC to be fixed since then... so 3 EA live support tickets later i finnally got a no BS answer.... on this beautifull monday....

You: yeah ive been to 150 difrent threads on bioware social networks forums about the same issue what i think all of us would like was a status report from official sources.. dunno if thats possible

Alan: When this issue will get resolved. our developers will let you know on the forums. ( He was talking about Bioware social network here btw )

You: so no timeline ? 1 hour or 48 hours ??? i mean had this issue since friday... im sorry im not trying to be an ass

Point noted...  I wasn't quite sure about this aspect as I noticed that my "Sten" suddenly became half naked, "Jocks" only, when I was a fair way into the Deep Roads.  Ended up starting at the dwarf city before Deep Roads in order to get all equipment back.  Don't know whether the two issues are related.  In my case I would go back to the dwarf city to level up, equip and change characters depending on which section of the deep roads I was in.  I still haven't got back to the section I was at to see whether I can replicate the problem i.e. missing equipment.

EA's support sent me here. Which might have been helpful if their first email hadn't had me WIPE OUT all my DLC with a reinstall. Can't fiddle with an empty Addons.xml....

Tried the addins.xml.. It didnt work for me.. I was able to load my last saved game though.. But Dragon armor set is gone and the amor set that you get from soldier's peak is also gone..

I edited the "addins.xml" in Word Pad just fine, and replaced all of the "RequiresAuthorization=1" to "RequiresAuthorization=0" occurrences. It did properly authorize all of the content that I manually installed from downloading in my account, however, I still won't be able to access certain things such as "Blood Dragon Armor", "Collector's Edition", "Feast Day" and the "Stone Prisoner".

I'll have to wait for them showing up at the servers and being available for download before I can get ahold of these once more.

i just purchased the ultimate edition last week installed the game and redeemed the dlc code. i went to check the installed content and everything said unauthorized. i tried editing the addon.xml file by changing the requireauthorization from 1 to 0. i went back into the game and everything said authorized but discovered another problem when attempting to load a game unable to load module. i hope developers fix this soon.

OK.

If you were lucky and have already authorized your DLC BEFORE EA's server crashed (i. e. Saturday) then do this instead of messing with Addons.xml:

Log out or disconnect your machine from the internet. (Methods may vary here)

Look up your "downloadable content" tab in-game. DLC should be "Enabled" and the "unauthorized" tag should be gone.

Resume a saved game. DLC should be active.

This worked for me. You can find more information (especially a solution for some Ultimate users that can't use my method) by following the link in my sig and reading through the thread.

I just got a reply from EA support saying this was currently being worked on and is a known issue in fact they link to this thread specifically as a source of updated information regarding possible fixes.

So just a heads up their engineers have taken notice of this forum thread and supposedly are working on it.

Similar issues here. Just bought points and they don't show up in-game. Bought a DLC with those points through profile page and it wouldn't download. Chatted with two service reps, got a redeem code, tried to manually install with the DLC with DAzip as per instructions and that didn't work either. Rep says it's an engineering problem. Aggravating.
