Read the thread.  It is a broken file.  Nothing to do with your OS.

wow compress 1,51GB file into 1.5MB...rejoice the great comeback of floppy disk

Dear NOOB

PCC files are already compressed, and are only cooked on demand to optimize system performance.

"Hypothetically" A complete decompression/extarction of all PCCs into one folder would mean that it would have about a million different file paths under it. A delete command of this folder in windows would start 3-5 hour process of deleting files.

So you see? if it wasn't so, your PC perfs would suffer greatly, and THEN you'd have something to worth whining about.

I was hoping someone would get all technical and explain that :P.. I didnt really feel like it!

Eeesh, people, we don't care what OS you're running, or what country you're DLing from.

File = Universally Broken.

As many others have said; the most irrtating aspects of this are:

1) The DL was late to be activated anyway
2) Bioware have not removed the broken DL, and therefore, people are continuing to purchase a
broken product.
3) Feedback from Bioware has been nothing more than "Yeah, its broken, give us a while..."

I personally feel that the original late-release, followed by a large, "corrupt" DL, is not a co-incidence. To me, this seems like a stall-tactic. They'd rather blame one or two nameless individuals, rather than taking collective responsibility for the PC version simply not being ready yet.

yep. They were also working on it and telling people to chill out. look how that went. Bad example.

Except this is about a video game addon being released a day later, and nothing really bad happens to anyone.

As far as disasters in video games industry goes, i'd say it is a big one.
And for nothing bad happens to anyone.. you know that for sure? so you personally can vouch that there is absolutly no possibility, that some kid won't jump from a window, couse he thinks his life is ruined forever? it only takes one you know.

Actually I remember a couple of DLCs already that came out with problems, seriously, we pay money for this, and keeping the link on is a very serious issue for the people with limited bandwidth.
You really can´t understand the anger??

What they should do is at least remove the broken file so other people don't download it. Why haven't they done that?

Advice:

Shut up and wait. These things happen. BioWare is working on the problem.

Then they should post a notice to that effect so that people do not incur additional fees as of now (edit: ISP caps as an example...plus  I'm on vacation and would not have had purchase this addition after today as vacation ends and won't have time to play it before the interest worns off +- 3 mnths ) .  A release date is an obligation of result.

Seriously, how hard is it to edit the first post of this thread?

1. For those with download caps: Sorry about your luck. Again, things happen, guess you have to wait for tomorrow. Is another day really going to kill you? Probably not.

2. Ok, so your vacation ends. Once more...sorry about your luck. Guess you'll be playing it when you get another vacation.

3. A release date is not an obligation - there is no "contract" here, and this is not "fraud" or "false advertising."

Being a disappointed whiner does not suddenly make you a lawyer.

I will say that yes, BioWare could have made a better effort to inform the community, and they should probably get the broken link taken down as soon as possible.

As to the rest - just be patient. Your world is not going to end if you don't find out who the Shadow Broker is today.

The **** up is acceptable.. stuff like that happens to the best of people.. and I at least consider Bioware to belong to that category..

But leaving the wrong file up for people to buy and download is just very poor customer treatment.. I mean.. how much effort would it take to remove the link and post a "EDIT NOT WORKING ATM" on it?

Anyway.. for people that are playing DA as well.. Witch hunt is available trough the in game store.. so if you need something to spend time on, thats a good bet.

It's fun to make people download 1.5 Gb of nothing and let them rage. Warning them that the file is corrupted thus it was taken down till fixed is no fun.

For that reason only:

Read the thread.  It is a broken file.  Nothing to do with your OS.

Although to be fair if Bioware actually posted on the main web page there was an issue people a/ wouldnt download till fix and b/ wouldnt see so many reposts on these threads saying the DLC wont work on their version of windows...

Still obviously no need to actually tell us its broken...

And to all the posters critising the whiners

We paid for it is it to much to expect to have what we paid for? If this was the first time this had happened i wouldnt be moaning myself but theres a consistent pattern where with PC DLC not working, bit of difference between not actually being able to purchase the product (issue with last DLC) and being able to buy it and not be informed youve wasted time buying and downloading a broken product...maybe its just me....

It seems the original file upload failed after setting the file size: the file on server seems to be completely unallocated (sparse file) and when read, the OS just returns zeros over it.

Ditto here. Tried all compatibility mode options with the same outcome.

I am having the same problem. I never experienced this with any of the other Mass Effect DLCs. The icon also does not have the ME2 logo.
I think Bioware got pushed by EA and released this DLC a bit too early...

[edit] Have been using Win7 64 with all Mass Effect products and never had any issues. Until now :P

I think that this is pathetic, one month of hype for nothing, not even tested before upload and it's corrupt, how about people who have isps that only allow so much to be downloaded per month they have wasted x amount of bandwith. Im lucky im on unlimited but that is not the point. I guess one months wait we can all wait yet another month for them to get their act sorted. It's ea games after all, they still even to this day cant fix the sims 3.
