Actually there is a contract - if you paid money for the content and they took it, they are obligated to provide said content (or a refund). Just saying.

Seems like there are no devs/moderators from 40+ mins on this forum, maybe is a good sign, they're all working hard to resolve the problem asap.

Bioware has a lot on their plates and a lot of people/parties to make happy (EA, Microsoft, Sony for DA:O, and fans) not to mention most importantly their own lives outside of work. This stuff has happened, us who decided to purchase it on the 360 got it fine.. this one of the reasons why Microsoft has a review process... not the only reason but one of them although broken dlc has slipped through before but it was deceptively broken (Fallout 3: The Pitt which was fixed of course but you really didn't encounter errors until you were into the DLC a bit).

Regardless, it will be fixed for those who bought it or are trying to buy it for the PC... nerd-raging on the forums won't speed up the process it only makes them rush if there are that many people spamming the forums over it (which was possibly the reason for it being broken to begin with). 360 owners enjoy the dlc, no need to taunt. It's not 360 vs PC vs PS3 vs Wii etc... everyone enjoys playing video games at least once in a while here and likes bioware games so no need to be a d-bag.

Okay, I'm done with this thread. If anyone has anything to say feel free to PM me as I may or may not check back in this thread but I do check my Private Messages from time to time otherwise you are just talking to youreself.

When money changes hands it becomes a contract between consumer and seller.

Advice:

Shut up and wait. These things happen. BioWare is working on the problem.

Then they should post a notice to that effect so that people do not incur additional fees as of now (edit: ISP caps as an example...plus  I'm on vacation and would not have had purchase this addition after today as vacation ends and won't have time to play it before the interest worns off +- 3 mnths ) .  A release date is an obligation of result.

Seriously, how hard is it to edit the first post of this thread?

1. For those with download caps: Sorry about your luck. Again, things happen, guess you have to wait for tomorrow. Is another day really going to kill you? Probably not.

2. Ok, so your vacation ends. Once more...sorry about your luck. Guess you'll be playing it when you get another vacation.

3. A release date is not an obligation - there is no "contract" here, and this is not "fraud" or "false advertising."

Being a disappointed whiner does not suddenly make you a lawyer.

I will say that yes, BioWare could have made a better effort to inform the community, and they should probably get the broken link taken down as soon as possible.

As to the rest - just be patient. Your world is not going to end if you don't find out who the Shadow Broker is today.

Ok. all 00 00 00 00 aside... That is really not acceptable. And simple "yeah, sorry, we're working on it", "Folks it's up now sorry for the delay!", "I think we can put our differences behind, you know, for science" simply won't cut it this time. We paid very real money for it. We waited patiently. Some would say that 10 usd isn't much, but it is not a full game either.
We paid for it, and we want it now. You owe us bioware. There should be penalties and reparations.

not ot mention that we are now IN A VERY REAL DANGER TO GET IT SPOILED FOR US BY THE XBOX PLAYERS.

I agree.

This is simply unacceptable. Real money for a long-waited DLC doesn't work the day it is supposed to work.
Meanwhile an idiotic troll (Sapphira) posts "spoilers" is not helping on my or somebody else's patient. We have waited months to finally be able to fight with one of the most beloved characters in the Mass Effect universe (damn, I sound like a nerd), and we get a corrupted file.

I don't mind Xbox360 players. I DO mind the Xbox360 players who think they're more important, because they have a console that can play Halo, and therefore think it instantly makes Xbox360 the best console on earth.

Yup; just like when you pre-order something; it means the dev has to give you a copy of the game right away.

Please read the last billion pages. The DLC is broken on all operating systems, it's a dud file with garbage data. Bioware is working on it.

yep. They were also working on it and telling people to chill out. look how that went. Bad example.

Except this is about a video game addon being released a day later, and nothing really bad happens to anyone.

As far as disasters in video games industry goes, i'd say it is a big one.
And for nothing bad happens to anyone.. you know that for sure? so you personally can vouch that there is absolutly no possibility, that some kid won't jump from a window, couse he thinks his life is ruined forever? it only takes one you know.

Dammit, it's like all the funny good-natured nerdrage has gone out of the thread and now it's all crazy-like. Listen, there are a lot of valid complaints to make about this whole business and Bioware deserves to catch a little flak, but if this is where some people want to take this whole deal, I don't know what to say anymore.

Since this isn't a pre-order and was supposed to be available right now they are under obligation to do something about it (fix it or give you back your money).   The least they could have do in the mean time would be to remove the broken file.  I can't believe they left it sitting there to confuse and frustrate people.

If they don't want this to happen, then they should hire better people for QA. Or get a frickin' stable hardline to the servers...

Well they may not want it but they aren't doing much professionally about the situation are they ?  As people have said before me they should have removed the download link and replaced the DLC page with an explanation.  The corrupted file has now been accessable for nearly 4 hours and they have made no attempt to protect their customers.

It is damn irresponsible for Bioware to leave the DLC purchase pages up when there clearly is not a working product to purchase.  They should at least put a warning on the purchase page, but no they just leave it all running whilst they dick around trying to sort it out, that is incredibly unprofessional.

nothing drives people more crazy than telling them to chill. Please don't do that. This won't end well. For now we kept our irritation civilized. We are here waiting for news. If people that want to elevate their self esteem acting all leadirsh and "averting people's rage", "bringing peace and voice of reason" and telling everyone to just chill it, it will get ugly.

I'm a bit annoyed that I just spent money on something that was meant to be released today that doesn't work. And that seemingly nobody at Bioware thought to test the .exe before releasing it. It is very frustrating.

I feel entitled to vent a little since I've actually spent money on this, and anybody who wants to be all sanctimonious and tell me to be patient really needs to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. I can wait for the fix to come out, no problem, but it would be nice to have an explanation as to why they release a broken .exe in the first place.

Got to agree with this guy, you're just sounding off like a condescending jack ass. I don't care that we don't get it today or tomorrow, but I am just baffled and a bit saddened that this is another Bioware screw up. Dragon Age Origins is a total joke at the minute and this just another one in the pile for them.

I've never, ever heard of a company releasing a file full of junk data (that we all paid money for I might add) and the fact that it's still up there waiting for people to buy it is just terribly misleading.

BW take the file down  and put a temporary announcement on your store page or something. Right now nothing about this mess is clear and people are wasting time, money and bandwidth while you figure out your arse from your elbow. People do not come to your forums all that much, and the fact that I didn't visit the forums first meant I bought the DLC under false pretences.

There should be no reason to visit the forums, it should be made clear and transparent when things go wrong.

Yeah, there really should be a notice on the front page of the site, or at least the DLC area. And the broken link should have been taken down about 10 min after the problem was discovered.

NOT what he said.  Today was the OFFICIAL release date for both xBox and PC.  The console kiddies got theirs, and the PC users got boned......1.5Gb worth of zeroes..... "sorry your computer is incompatible with zeroes.....we'll get back to you.....sometime.......maybe".......:crying:
