Actually, the EXE is not much more then an auto extractor...

No need to explain this to me, because I happen to know what "auto-extractor" is.

I also happen to know that ME2 DLC uses NullSoft Installer on the outside, and that the actual DLC inside is packed with WinRAR.

What I am saying is that there is no chance in hell that, even if the said RAR archive was all zeros (which is impossible even if all the files inside the RAR were zeros), that the actual self-extracting part is also zero.

...not to encrypt - already encrypted

ME2 DLC is NOT encrypted. You can unpack it manually using 7-Zip.

Entitlements? - that mechanism is started with game launch.

Wrong again. Entitlement is earned when you purchase DLC. You get a download link in your account which is static, same for everyone. Yeah, that is lame from a security standpoint -- it means everyone who downloads DLC from whatever source can install and play it because the game doesn't check your entitlements online.

It is needed in order to make sure that the dlc folder would be installed in the right place

Yes, and getting a folder to unpack RAR into is a one-liner script.

programming in BINARY on notepad? even as a sarcastic remark that's still one of the most idiotic remarks imaginable.

It was sarcasm to exaggerate how much time has passed since they become aware of the problem.

Read consumer agreement...

Consumer agreement regulates use of the goods after they are delivered. They are NOT delivered.

They update regularly on another thread...

Yeah, I read that thread. Really full of (official) updates. (sarcasm again in case you are too dumb to detect it).

Stop BS-ing people here. Some of us are not stupid.

Since BioWare had a tough one today I just want to give them a thumbs up on the great download speed of this DLC. I have a 24Mbps AT&T Uverse Internet connection and I downloaded the bad DLC twice this morning and it only took 9 to 10 minutes each time. I am getting a solid 2.5MB/sec download speed as I am downloading the fixed DLC right now.... should be done in about 8 minutes. I am sure Bioware and/or partners' servers are getting hammered today with the Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLCs. Thanx for keeping the download speeds top notch.

Agree, the connection is slightly slow than the speed in the morning (1.8 MB/S, now is 1.5 MB/S), lucky me that I was at work and found out the problem is solved once I'm back home. hehehehe

As I always say.....when you choose to buy for PC you are consciously making the choice to suffer a trillion times more bugs, glitches, nightmares and horrors than any console gamer. That's basically a fact. If you want slightly better graphics on the unnoticeable level then fine but this is the price you pay for those 3 extra pixels.

I enjoyed the LotSB DLC and it was absolutely awesome....beyond amazing....and I don't feel sorry for the PC gamers because they chose this. It's always a matter of insignificantly better graphics versus stability, enjoyability and peace of mind.

I own a PS3 and an X360, but I still choose to play it on PC. Why?

1: The control scheme is superior to that of the 360. Eight hotkeys, compared to the 360's three? Yeah.

2: The graphics vary, but are as a rule equal on a standard gaming PC to that of a 360. If you spend a little more, they're far superior. I'm running a fairly mainstream gaming PC that's almost three years old now, and I run ME2 at 1920x1200, which is quite a bit nicer than that 720p the 360 barely manages to output. And my "console" doesn't sound like a vaccuum cleaner.

3: I bought the downloadable collectors edition for less than I would have paid for the standard 360 version.

And yes, a PC is a complicated piece of equipment which, without the proper know-how, is prone to problems. The 360 isn't, unless you consider its horrendous failure rates of course.

Off to play some LotSB now.

No they don't, otherwise it would already have happened. It's more likely a bugged installer compile and will have to be rerun and retweaked.

Yeah, right. Bugged installer compile. As if you know what you are talking about.

NullSoft Installer that they were using for all ME2 DLC so far suddenly got broken eh??? They probably updated it to a new version which has bugs they didn't know about just before compiling this DLC installation, right?

And the installer was so broken that it even didn't include executable code for unpacking the zeros, an icon and their digital signature?

YEAH RIGHT.

Frankly i think you have no idea what you're talking about. Of course you wouldn't, as would 99% of the people on this forum.

Frankly, look up my name on Google, and you will see that I have excellent idea about all this because I am a software developer myself. Intel Black Belt software developer.

You paid $10 for having it. A release date, especially when broken for a silly accident like this for hours, is not a breach of contract or an attempt to scam you.

It is not an attempt to scam people, but a release date is a release date. I paid for having it and playing it yesterday, not today. Today I will have other things to do.

They have posted that they're working on it. They are working on it. I too would welcome more detailed information about whats wrong, but in the end i'd prefer if they'd focus their resources on actually fixing it.

I am afraid that is not good enough and here is why:

- Forum post burried somewhere is not a public announcement.
- Not taking the purchase link down immediately and replacing it with an explanation/apology (which is in their control) is lame
- Not taking download link down immediately (which is EA's responsibility) is also lame

Better stay quiet next time.

you dismiss the validity of of any other theory by saying "yeahhhh righhhht"?

And now, lets knock out your piece of crap assumption:

1) could it be the actual code of the DLC? the one it took months to develop?

2) could it be that EA, that uses the same "cloud computing" (google it) resources for the download center and this very form, that's on the Bioware domain, just can't upload the file from somewhere that is essentially on the same network?

3) Is it possible that just the front end installer bugged after compression, and that's why every single bit assumed it's default value? 0 and not 1 ?

If there's not other theory, I think it's likely to be no. 3

BTW,

You are such an unprecedented noob, you actually used the name of a hardware company, when you jokingly claim top be a programmer...

How do you live like this?

In Bioware's research it actually shows that PC gamers spend about 1 extra hour in the average playthrough than the 360 gamers. So there is no noticeable difference in the smoothness of the gameplay......if anything the PC controlls appear a bit slower explaining the extra hour.

Yeah, you're clear that you're just making sh!t up out of thin air, right?  For all you know, we PC users spend an extra hour marveling at all the pretty graphics.  I've played on both BTW: started on 360 and switched relatively recently.  Seriously: it's a much better experience overall on PC.
