I am having an issue to where the DLC installer isn't even opening all together. It only brings up a DOS-like window for half a second, then it disappears and nothing happens.

Is this the same problem others are having as well?

Yes. It cites a memory problem however it has nothing to do with your memory. The file is corrupt. 64 bit users seem to get an equally confusing messege saying it's not compatible with 64 bit

If this DLC doesn't get fixed right away this might happen

I have another issue with ME2_ShadowBroker.exe (apart from it being corrupted). I can not delete it. Every time i'm trying to delete it message pops out that it is used by some other application, but it's NOT, even after reboot. Win XP SP3/32.

try downloading Process Explorer from Sysinternals (its free microsoft utility),
1. run it
2. in the menu is "Find" select "Find Handle or DLL.."
3. type ME2 and click Search
4. it should show you what process is using it
5. try to kill the process

maybe there is something more simple but this is how i do it, and it works :)

Yep, this is so sheet. As usual, there's once again somethign wrong with PC ver. Not surprised much as I just read DA2 will be some dube console-style dumb hack'n'slash... Oh well, BioWare is going the cheap way...

Because you doesn't like something means BioWare is "going the cheap way." It just means you're never satisfied.

CS says engineers are aware and are working on it, no idea on a time when it will be released.

Yup, as some people posting just about the same time I did already explained, the dos window says something about the file being too big for memory, then closes. apparently you can double check to see if the Shadowbroker file is the useless one by compressing the file. If it compresses to just over 1.5 MB, then it's no good. Luckily for me, I didn't have any trouble with the file refusing to delete...it just doesn't work.

Also, I think it's unfair to complain BioWare is going cheap. Their products have, overall, been high-quality, enduring entertainment. I'm willing to believe that when they get the problem fixed, we will find the dlc worth the wait. I'm even willing to believe the problem isn't something they could have predicted or prevented.

Nonetheless, it is frustrating to the consumer and a bit damaging to the company image to release something defective and then be unable to predict when we might reasonably expect the problem to fixed. To be fair, though, if BioWare did give us an ETA on the fix only to realize the ETA was incorrect, that would only compound the initial ill-will this little glitch has temporarily stirred up.

I'm terrible at being patient, but I guess I'm left with little choice.

Some of you people replying are literally going to make me rage.

Try looking into the problem first before posting.

The issue with the .exe is that it is filled with 0s and no other important data what so ever. So you have to wait for BioWare to re-host the download so you can then re-download the new content.

It pays to read.

I'm so happy that I bought this over the new Spiderman game. Geez, why does Bioware screw over the PC version of DLC every freaking time? At least Witch Hunt will keep me company....

Bioware needs to stop worshipping the GOD of Money, Payola and fix this. I just wasted money to pay for this DLC, and ran in to the problem of where it won't install my my Vista 64.

They might be working on it, but I really wish they wouldn't worship Payola, and put DLC like this out before it is truly ready.

Theres nothing wrong with the DLC. They were hurried this morning with two DLC's to deliver. One of which had a corrupt installer file that they did not catch on to after uploading it. It's not like anybody thought "Hey let's wind them all up and post a fake file"

While we all wait for the DLC to be sorted we should hold a little game to see who can compact this piece of scrub data as much as possible thereby making the universe a better place!

I really wish they'd get their DLC problems fixed. First Overlord, and now this. They promised the stupid release date, they shouldn't have done that if they weren't ready. [/grumble]

This probably explains why "Witch Hunt" for DAO isn't up either. The packing SW is busted or the process is busted.

I'm having the opposite reaction: I find it hi-larious, really. :) It's been posted a zillion times on this forum -- up to the point where the server went in overload (not overlord) a couple of times -- and yet still new folks post asking whether they are the only ones being affected. LOL. Daftness like that is almost on par with uploading a file filled with zeroes. :)

I woke up early to get my SB fix and this is what I get? Shoulda checked the tech forums.. bye bye 1.5gb of 60 gb monthly quota.

Shadow Borker file is borked. I shoulda just slept. The lack of dev post means they're pouring absolutely every tech resource they have at fixing this? *grumbles 360 owners grumbles*

Will you people stop and be PATIENT. They delivered one of the best games and you guys are saying they suck because they made a mistake....

Give them a break and some time, they will post it eventually and everyone will forget that there was a problem. So please stop whining and wait.
