***SPOILER***
As craptastic as this 'epic conclusion' is, I hardly think walking into 'whatever' with Morrigan is a happy ending. Dagger to the belly and back to Leliana...now that's a story book ending. WTH is this gift of great importance anyhow? Or is this just a cliffhanger for those of us not out to bed the disembodied voice of Claudia Black to bite into?
*Spoilers*
But the walking into 'whatever' with your lover at your side and your child waiting on the other side, facing an unknown future? That seems like a story ending to me.
It definitely worked for me. Obviously not recognizing the DR put a huge damper on it, but at least it still recognized the romance. I loved the last scene. At first I thought I wished he would have at least looked back at Finn/Ariane, and maybe gotten a reaction shot from one of them, or maybe have a chance to at least get Ariane the book before leaving, but in retrospect...I kinda like that everything else sort of fades away and he doesn't look back. He's got his Morrigan, he's done enough, he's out of here. That part of it was immensely satisfying.
Though I can definitely see why it wouldn't be to people who didn't romance her.
*Spoiler*
Oh, I romanced her and performed the DR on another char, ran him through really fast to see what the romance ending looked like (sad you can finish it in like 45 min if you space bar the dialog and know where to go...). At any rate, it was a little touching...and by a little I mean a mere shadow of what was concocted in the original. I'm not bashing it (well I am a little) but It just doesn't feel right...it sad when you are watching the credits and thinking "I think Black has about 30 lines of dialog with all the different options I chose...seriously? She got out of bed for that? There were points that impressed me however, NPC's mentioning the ring I still wore, Morrigan bringing up old arguments...ect.
I totally see your point though. This DLC really only appeals to two audiences. The audience who really got wrapped up in the Morrigan love story and wanted a happy (if totally vague) ending. Or the audience who wants to gut shank Morrigan. I was on the fence before but after seeing this wholly rushed DLC I'll settle for the later.
