Well, if Bioware is really sorry about this whole sloppy business they will get it released soon, if not, I don't care if you guys continue flaming. I share all your frustration.

Thanks to the delay I've bought the new Dragon Age DLC, proving that messing up the LotSB is actually a good thing for bioware, as they've just got more money out of me!

well i would say its not Bioware the biggest thing... I mean i played bioware game since long and I played EA games since long... EA games often (very often) had glitches often majors ( i remember an NF2 where i couldn't play because it refused to recognize my keyboard)... bioware had very few minors glitches... but true since they are in EA payroll.... its getting worse... does not make me hope the best for SWTOR

Could be worse: Activision could be in charge, and you'd have to pay full price/near full price for each of three parts of the game.Image IPB

I'd call that a bad thing Mister. I wouldn't give Bioware any money right now after this screw up.

Are people seriously this up in arms over a delay for optional content? Go play Witch Hunt, enjoy the fresh air of the last few days of summer or go relax a bit. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

I played Witch Hunt...don't get me started.:pinched:

Fiasco? Really? This is not a fiasco.  This is a minor inconvienice at the worst and a slight annoyance otherwise.  So what you may not be able to get it today, you already paid and they will provide it when they make sure no other errors exist.  They probably want to double and triple check to make sure any possible errors are fixed

Putting a major, well hyped product up for sale and then being unable to deliver on it because at first you were uploading it at the 11th hour, and second the file was completely empty, is a huge fiasco.  It speaks volumes about incompetence and lack of quality control with the people that bioware hires to get us our products.

I'm not one of those people who wants someone fired, or is screaming about a refund, or claims they will never buy another bioware product.

But it's a big, ridiculous error on bioware's part.  It will make me more cautious when purchasing products from them.  I probably will only buy the ones I REALLY want, as opposed to ones I might be inclined to purchase on a whim.  Because, you see, when someone makes buying their products a hassle, you buy less of them.

That's why getting out product should be as easy and trouble-free as possible.  Last night I had to spend 5 minutes looking for a way to buy bioware points so I'd be able to easily get the Shadow Broker DLC today.  That's very silly.  There should be a big link on the front page telling me that I can buy bioware points any time I like just by clicking it.

Really professional companies understand that you want to streamline things like, "getting money from your customers" and "getting the product to the paying customers".  If it's an easy, and trouble free process to buy things from a company, they tend to get more business, their customers aren't frustrated, and everyone wins.

I LIKE bioware's products and that's why their shoddy online business model upsets me.  I would prefer it if they would spend the time to get their house in order so I don't trip over piles of dirty laundry on the floor when I come to visit.

I understand where you are coming from, but don't you think the term fiasco is not the best choice, I mean I don't think this is a sudden and violent collapse, although at the rate it was going not to long ago, perhaps it is getting violent, but I digress

The only thing that annoys me is that bioware didn't test out this file's download process before releasing it to the public but other than that I don't see a problem that consititutes the reaction going on here. Honestly it would be different if we had to pay again for the good version but we don't. I don't mind waiting a day or two to play the lair of the shadow broker.

Bioware, bioware, you treat me like a john some times with in a professional sexual relationship, take my money and yell rape. i'm just thinking for a start you had a release date right? i'm just thinking i would have had the packet ready for that release date on PC as well as Xbox, but even if i was late i would make sure the thing worked on PC. i think what should happen is university rules, every day its late you lose 5 percent of your grade, but instead of grades the project team loses 5 percent of their body, or pay if you want o be "rational". but look,

I've payed for a service, well product but we're keeping this on the nether regions of slightly off, and i think its... its not cool man. I tell you what, if in my job i gave your the incorrect thing or made a mistake to the comparative scale of this one you'd have flat lined or have an infected IV drip or something. *Imagine a smiley with glazed over eyes and a dopey smile*

No but seriously, if your going to not release something don't hype it. i mean you're marketing department is amazing don't get me wrong, i was anticipating this nearly as much as an actual game release, but when things don't work out and we've had good PR... we want blood... and "to do bad things with you".

They really couldnt, people were downloading before the upload was complete. Though they should have uploaded it, locked it, tested it and then pulled it. However if it were delayed for PC we would be just as pissed. Damned if you do, damed if you dont, right?

Since our entertainment is gone, what is everyone looking forward to the most in the DLC? I can't wait to find out who the Shadow Broker is.

I understand that S happens, but seriously, ALL downloads should be:

Verified as working.

Upload to FTP.

Download back to PC.

Verify as working.

Push live server with DL location.

This is basic, basic, basic IT. Find a new IT Operations crew. This kind of screwup would be acceptible for a newbie PW admin, not a multi-billion dollar conglomerate like EA.

It's not a fiasco for me, my day's not ruined.  It's a fiasco for bioware though.  The shadow broker and witch hunter DLC's should have been uploaded to the servers on friday afternoon sometime, and tested before people went home.  Then all anyone would have had to do today would be to toss the link up on the main site and people would have been able to buy and download with no problems.

Instead they waited until the last minute to upload both, and one ended up being an empty file.  That's terrible organization and execution.

1) its a problem, no one likes to go home with a problem over their heads. I stay late all the time at work to fix a problem so I dont have to worry about it overnight and I can enjoy it with my buds and a beer.

What people like is irrelevant having programmers pulling a nightshift to fix a problem is not cost effective.  Bioware is a business and I am assuming they wish to make a profit from this DLC and it isn't difficult to see a nighshift eating into that profit when they could just leave it till tomorrow to fix things.

theelementslayer wrote... 2) Its a company, and not goo business practice to go home while there is still a problem.

I am sorry but using the words "good business" in relation to Bioware at the moment is a bit of a joke.  It isn't good business to let customers download a 1.5gb junk file but Bioware did it.  It isn't good business to leave the download and purchase links up for nearly 5 hours when there was a clear problem but Bioware did it.

theelementslayer wrote... 3) Its a canadian company, and being a local from alberta, a few hours away from Bioware Edmonton, I have trust in them to do what is right.:wizard:

The nationality of a company is completely irrelevant, there are good German companies and there are bad German companies.  Like I said throughout all this you have flamed and attacked anyone that has rightly complained about this unmitigated disaster.  Obviously nothing is going to shake your "faith" in Bioware so it is pointless me discussing this with you.

I still don't understand what happened.  If it's available on xbox (my understanding is this is the case, please correct if wrong) then clearly they have a completed version of this game (my understanding is X360 runs on a windows derivative).  Considering the DLC came as all zeros, it seems to be the upload corrupted.  Do they not keep ample backups?  Did the actual PC file just "disappear"?  It doesn't entirely make sense to me that they'd lose a DLC they worked hard on (/assumption) so suddenly.

Internet lawyering is such fun, no?

My real lawyer (the one I am marrying) confirms that there is in fact the basis of a case to be answered, however, she also points out that the original sum is trifling next to the costs of pursuing the case and that Bioware have quite a long time yet to manage a speedy resolution of the problem.

This doesn't alter the fact that they have ****ed up quite badly here and people are not being unreasonable when annoyed by it.

I buy something off of ebay and the box is empty you can sue this person for none fullfillment of the Contract at least where i am living

This is not the same ...

We are dealing with software here.

In case you didn't notice, you buy the right to use DLC, meaning Bioware don't care where you get your DLC and how many time you download it. So it would be nice to stop to compar software product that can be used and downloaded 1500 times if you please with books or pizza ... It's the big different between "i own the righ to use" and "i pay for product".
If you break your ME2 dvd you can download it for free from EA server, you CAN'T enter any video game shop and take as much as you please saying you paid already for this game, you will need to pay for each copy.

and about contract and guaranty, Bioware don't use the same as ebay or pizzahut... and for good reason.

Take it like  delay problem, you won't get your product at the estimated date, but you will get it as soon as possible (mater of hours or day in the worste case).
And stop arguing Bioware broke the contract since there is no date and delay guaranty.

I am a appalled at some of the comments being made here.

Do people really think Bioware doesn't care about their biggest ME2 DLC? They prefer xbox users to PC? They are stealing money? They didn't follow through on their premise?

Everyone makes mistakes. You have, I have, and bioware has. I understand the process that is involved in creating something like this, and for and error like this to slip past QA is not uncommon and not the end of the world.

Most importantly, they realized their mistake, and they have taken the file down. People need to stop dwelling on the error, and realize that Bioware (a very PC respective company) is doing everything they can to fix the issue. I been anticipating this DLC, and having to wait a bit longer isn't going to kill me, especially if it means a working install file!
