Fiasco? Really? This is not a fiasco.  This is a minor inconvienice at the worst and a slight annoyance otherwise.  So what you may not be able to get it today, you already paid and they will provide it when they make sure no other errors exist.  They probably want to double and triple check to make sure any possible errors are fixed

Putting a major, well hyped product up for sale and then being unable to deliver on it because at first you were uploading it at the 11th hour, and second the file was completely empty, is a huge fiasco.  It speaks volumes about incompetence and lack of quality control with the people that bioware hires to get us our products.

I'm not one of those people who wants someone fired, or is screaming about a refund, or claims they will never buy another bioware product.

But it's a big, ridiculous error on bioware's part.  It will make me more cautious when purchasing products from them.  I probably will only buy the ones I REALLY want, as opposed to ones I might be inclined to purchase on a whim.  Because, you see, when someone makes buying their products a hassle, you buy less of them.

That's why getting out product should be as easy and trouble-free as possible.  Last night I had to spend 5 minutes looking for a way to buy bioware points so I'd be able to easily get the Shadow Broker DLC today.  That's very silly.  There should be a big link on the front page telling me that I can buy bioware points any time I like just by clicking it.

Really professional companies understand that you want to streamline things like, "getting money from your customers" and "getting the product to the paying customers".  If it's an easy, and trouble free process to buy things from a company, they tend to get more business, their customers aren't frustrated, and everyone wins.

I LIKE bioware's products and that's why their shoddy online business model upsets me.  I would prefer it if they would spend the time to get their house in order so I don't trip over piles of dirty laundry on the floor when I come to visit.

I second that. Well said.

Remember everyone.

They purposefully set a release date and then randomly decided to not release it.

Thats right. They hyped it, got you excited, then didn't give it to you just so they could laugh. See, they would rather lose customers and money then not have a laugh.

Man, the internet is so full of stupid. Does anyone actually typing this stuff beleive it?

I agree. It's not a fiasco. It's not BW screwing over the PC gamers. It's a simple SNAFU - situation normal: all f*cked up. Could describe it as a clusterf*ck too, not sure.

Huhuhu, ... so much people unable to wait and royally compromising their dignity over such a trivial issue like a DLC being late/defect.

I admit I do not share your point of view completely as for now, I wait for a bit until my next playthrough as I am into another game right now, but seriously pals, get a hold on yourselfs.

BioWare has no reason to keep you guys waiting, quite the opposite is the case as the longer people wait, the more likely they won't buy the DLC. Those are no major numbers, but still, the equation is the same Delay = Less sold DLC.

Now let them do their work.

Judging by some of what I've read here, I think I must have missed the part where a release date constituted a contractual agreement to make a download available at a specific date and time. A release date is a projected date, if it slips, by advance announcement or last minute problem, that's just called bad luck, annoying yes, but breach of contract by the company, hardly!

Yes it's annoying that we have to wait a little longer for this, especially when we've already paid for it, but do you complain when you mail order a game and *shock horror* they take your money before it's arrived with you...face it, if extra content was on disk, half of us wouldn't be recieving it until a day or 2 after the 'release date' anyway due to mailing delays /inability to get to a game store on release day, and would we be lambasting Bioware for it, no, we'd accept that it's an annoying delay but 'one of those things', yet when there's a problem with something that is available for us to download and use the second it's released, Bioware are public enemy number one???

Do you need to have had a romance with Liara to get the catching up achievement? It's the only one I have left in the entire game.

Typical BioWare behavior. I am not surprised.

"Did we test the installer for the PC?"
"Good point. I'll arrange a meeting next week to verify that."

1) its a problem, no one likes to go home with a problem over their heads. I stay late all the time at work to fix a problem so I dont have to worry about it overnight and I can enjoy it with my buds and a beer.

What people like is irrelevant having programmers pulling a nightshift to fix a problem is not cost effective.  Bioware is a business and I am assuming they wish to make a profit from this DLC and it isn't difficult to see a nighshift eating into that profit when they could just leave it till tomorrow to fix things.

theelementslayer wrote... 2) Its a company, and not goo business practice to go home while there is still a problem.

I am sorry but using the words "good business" in relation to Bioware at the moment is a bit of a joke.  It isn't good business to let customers download a 1.5gb junk file but Bioware did it.  It isn't good business to leave the download and purchase links up for nearly 5 hours when there was a clear problem but Bioware did it.

theelementslayer wrote... 3) Its a canadian company, and being a local from alberta, a few hours away from Bioware Edmonton, I have trust in them to do what is right.:wizard:

The nationality of a company is completely irrelevant, there are good German companies and there are bad German companies.  Like I said throughout all this you have flamed and attacked anyone that has rightly complained about this unmitigated disaster.  Obviously nothing is going to shake your "faith" in Bioware so it is pointless me discussing this with you.

Just like nothing will shake my faith in bethesda or all good video game devs. MW2 was great as well, if you used it right. Its the community the screws things up, cheaters, annyoing people and people who can never be happy. Its a luxury, next time your looking for your next meal, or the next sip of water, tell me and Ill help. Otherwise cheerio

The entire DLC system is terrible for Mass effect. Buying points takes for ever to find, what code you're suppose to put in to redeem stuff isn't obvious. You have to use the entitlements page to get anything and what dlc you've installed isn't obvious. It's a pretty terrible system all in all. The game side of dragon age is much sleeker but still buying dlc is annoyingly difficult.

The one thing worse than idiots on the internet are people like you on the internet. Who complain about such things as though it will make a difference.

You are the epitome of redundant and useless. You add nothing but white noise to the conversation.

Note: My posting falls under this banner too.

I am a appalled at some of the comments being made here.

Do people really think Bioware doesn't care about their biggest ME2 DLC? They prefer xbox users to PC? They are stealing money? They didn't follow through on their premise?

Everyone makes mistakes. You have, I have, and bioware has. I understand the process that is involved in creating something like this, and for and error like this to slip past QA is not uncommon and not the end of the world.

Most importantly, they realized their mistake, and they have taken the file down. People need to stop dwelling on the error, and realize that Bioware (a very PC respective company) is doing everything they can to fix the issue. I been anticipating this DLC, and having to wait a bit longer isn't going to kill me, especially if it means a working install file!

But if people did that they wouldn't be able to complain and trash them.  And that's no fun.  I mean I agree this is stupid people are going nuts over this.  It really is not that big of a deal, it will be up and ready with in 24 hours I think, probably before then.

A lot of you need to calm the hell down. You aren't going to have to pay twice so I don't see a problem.

I bet alongside myself a few Bioware guys are laughing at some of the idiots posting in this forum right now...

A bad DLC file going up is hardly a "disaster." If it still goes out fixed today, it's still on-schedule. You weren't promised a specific time to expect it. And even if this stretches until tomorrow, it's still not a disaster. It's unfortunate, but nobody's world is ending here.

In the grand scheme of it all, you'll either get your DLC, or you'll get a refund in the unlikely event that it never comes out. Those are the only two realistic scenarios. Neither is a problem, neither is worth throwing these temper tantrums over, and certainly neither one is a "disaster."

A flooded city is a disaster. A famine is a disaster. What you have is a first-world problem that you're being a drama queen about.
