This is getting beyond ridiculous. How long can this take, when it should be a simple matter of uploading the correct file? And how could a file with 1.5 GB of zeros ever be released in the first place? But I guess nothing should surprise me with BioWare/EA anymore.

Gosh...could that suggest that it isn't just a matter of uploading the correct file?  That perhaps the file is being corrupted on upload or download or on the remote server???  How can this be so??

Good thing we've got diagnostic geniuses like yourself around to tell us what MUST be the problem...

You see the problem is they have to debug 1.51 Gigs, that takes time.  A lot of time.  Debugging a file that is a fraction of that size can take a few hours, be grateful that it will probably be fixed within 20 hours or so by now.

That does not take a lot of time. All they have to do is pack all the files and add the installer, and they have a software that does that for them. Besides, a responsible company always has backups.

And a file with just zeros should never have been released. This says to me, they didn't even bother to test their own file at least once. Not only did PC gamers have to wait longer once again, apparently the PC platform doesn't even deserve proper testing anymore.

A failure of this scale is just inexcusable. Of course, sooner or later the correct file will be released. But this has already turned anticipation into anger.

How do you ship all zeros and not notice? Why didn't they do the very basic of basic QA steps and actually try out the download to verify that it wasn't a pile of nothing?

Seriously, I really want to know.

If the corruption was in their version control system and they have to rebuild it, then it will require QA and it will take a while. Of course, if the error was in their version control system then the source files might be gone too.

I'm hoping they have an offsite backup of the release version and someone is just retrieving it.

It doesn't make sense to me that they don't have a backup available.  If I'm a business entity of their magnitude, I have two hundred backups on and off site.  Hell, we have quadruplicate backups of everything in my place of employment and we don't have nearly the technological power Bioware should have.

errr okay... well i seem to remember once a buisness named SOE in 2004 or 2005 i think when they did a combat upgrade on SWG messed up greatly... and when asked to revert to the previous version on the servers.... they said " unfortunately we did not keep back up of the previous version" .... if some do it for a MMORPG then i dont wanna take bets on a normal game

No, really.  I understand.

edit: I second the griffon idea.

My thoughts exactly. Oh, one more thing: that pyramid would look gorgeous in a black tie.;)

Bow tie or neck tie?

It's rather tall, yet not so slim... Say, I vouch for a necktie. Top of it - a bow tie would require a dinner dress, and it won't fit. And I'd recommend a St. Andrew for the knot, as in a black narrow silk tie with a symmetrical knot will definitely make it sharp as hell.

What the... I had to consult the vast internets to look that up.  They all look the same.  And it was after I made my terribly dashing and debonaire images.

The cake is a lie.

Wrong developer I know but it seems obligatory to say that when someone mentions cake.

whoever said garrus was a good character is right. He can hold his own in the game. When I play inside the collector base, i always let garrus lead one of my teams and in the scene where he gets shot in the cut scene, he survives in the game, where others wont

If this is how BioWare does business, their MMO will never become the big money making machine they hope for.

I'll just be glad the Witch Hunt DLC also came out today, & will occupy my time with it.

Honestly, I've been such a fan of Bioware for so long, I don't even care about the delay. They are my favorite game developer, & I'll just be patient.

But I do understand those who were REALLY excited to play it being frustrated...

I have a ritual called "volus". I crouch in the shower in the "naked volus" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Mark Vanderloo or my own Shepard. I then start to hum the Mass Effect theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my volus leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy

I usually don't post on forums because they seem to be a waste of time but this .... this is silly.
I read the update expecting something informative but its just BioWare saying:

"Hey, we notice the problem, and we got it on our schedule of to do lists, next to the coffee cup in our employee lobby, on a sticky note.. If you got a PC, please wait, if you got an Xbox 360, enjoy your content that you've paid for."

(I feel as if I read that before - Oh yeah, with the problems with Dragon Age patches / DLCs.)

.... And everyone just goes, 'Ok'. All you paying customers go, 'Ok', when they just gave you little information on what they're doing and how they plan on fixing you. Not only do you, the paying customer, say 'Ok', you guys sit around and make conspiracies about M$ and BioWare doing some super-secret deal as if this is some crooked cop HBO mini series or something. Completely childish.

Normally, its nice to be kind and considerate to those who provide for you. Afterall, you have no part in the creation. But, it isn't like this is BioWare's first DLC launch and it messed up. They've messed up several times - Awakening, Dragon Age Patches, etc - with their DLC and you, the paying customer, just says 'Ok'. And you expect BioWare to actually fix things when not one person says this is enough?

How long did it take for BioWare to fix the problem with the DA:O patch that destroyed creating a character? (meaning your character creation screen was completely blank) Is that even fixed? Dont you consumers care about having stable DLC launched or what?

I just can't believe that developers can get away with producing absolute crap towards paying customers and people let them get away with it.

BioWare, I have complete respect for you when it comes to the games you publish but for the following content, I sware every other DLC you guys release has something wrong with it. Don't you guys have beta testers? Didn't someone see the code was wrong? I wasn't in the BioWare office when all the crap hit the fan, so I can't say much but what I will say is -

That this'll be the last DLC I purchase from BioWare, and I won't be buying ToR . Why? Because I think its crap how they treat customers who've purchased their stuff to such lackluster information when stuff goes wrong, and to broken content. If they can't get a few stable DLC's / Patches launched, I hate to see ToR.

Wow button thumpers saying the PC shouldnt get thr LOTSB Dlc because a few are suffering nerdrage?

When Bioware announced ME2 going to the PS3..the green button thumpers (Xbox) were having strokes by the thousands. Maybe BW and MS should disable ME and ME2 on the green boys boxes...you know...since they were having a hissy.

Just my opinion....no need to go spreading it around you know

Not to be snippy, but I don't see how that impacts this DLC.  Not keeping redundant backups of major updates and DLC packages on and off site is pretty weak.  If it's that bad, I'll personally donate a 160GB HDD to Bioware for off site backup purposes.
