The fact that it took him 6 hours to finally make this post suggests that the DLC wont be released within the next few hours. >.> I'm hoping by the end of the day, but sadly, I might have to just wait until tomorrow to play this. *sigh*

He's posted a few times on other thread(s), and I doubt the problem is down to him.

Why is it the people who make announcements are fodder?

You've never heard the phrase "Shooting the messenger"? It's only been a widely known vice of mankind since the dawn of civilisation.

True, but it's roots deeply entrenched in history don't make it any less unethical.

Well that's good to know. Hopefully you guys are learning from this experience and to better mitigate any future hiccups in your process. That's the best you can do in this sort of situation, well that and not letting interns touch buttons of course.

I know that now a small army of batarian slaves are working on fixing the problems. As Cocytus has said, all my love to Bioware and expect it fixed ASAP.

How about some small free download to all buyers as compensation?

Dear Bioware:

Next time you are releasing a DLC, please test the file at least twice on all applicable OS's (a 32 bit and 64 bit of each), and upload the file to your servers at least 3 days before it launches. That is a VERY easy way to avoid such a error in the future.

It's about 0:00 a.m. in Europe so .. I'm going to bed and I swear I'm NOT going to buy ANY DLC from Bioware any soon.. I've reinstalled my czech subtitled version of game into full-english-version (because of those "issues" with DLC in middle Europe, but this is just too much :/ ..

I'm loving this....... you can pretty much guarantee that all the people complaining and threatening legal action will be the same people who, in a couple months when the next DLC is due, will be sat here once again complaining about the wait, saying how much theyre looking forward to it and then doing the same thing as they're doing now. blaming everyone and there grandma's.

yeah it sucks that we cant play, yeah it sucks that we've already paid for it. if you have that much of a problem with all this, go get your refund. just be grateful that we get SOME info on what is going on. its better than nothing. I for one know fine well that I WANT this DLC. I will GET this DLC (eventually) I will LOVE this DLC and I will patiently wait for the next installment in this space saga. and by patiently I mean I will be pulling my hair out trying to think of what to do with myself while I wait on the (fingers crossed) Ash/Kaiden DLC.

Bioware, I for one think you do a great job. yeah there are technical issues now and again. yes they can be annoying. but all in all you give us some of the best and most loved games, characters and franchises in gaming. I commend you. I cannot wait to see how this DLC pans out and I await announcements on future DLC and games with baited breath. I cant wait to see how you blow me away in the future.

sorry. had to get that off my chest. its been bugging me......

This just further illustrates why the whole DLC thing is a STUPID idea. Why can't companies just wait till they have enough stuff together for a proper expansion pack, and release it through proper channels.... instead of these bullcrap downloads....that don't work.  Not like this is the first time.....remember the release day Cerberus Network/DLC fiasco.....<_<

It's actually just a dead file. Corrupted by the compiler into a bunch of zeroes.

The weird thing is that the file has no icon either, you think the error would've been caught by that alone.

I went home as fast as I could to buy, download and play the DLC.
First it takes hours until the DLC is for sale. Ok, that's not a problem .It might be 7 o'clock in the evening here in Europe but that's probably still plenty of time to finish the DLC. Well, seems like after 2 hours of downloading, we get a bunch of zeros.
I don't understand what the heck they're doing at the moment.
They just picked the wrong file. So now they just take the right installer and upload it. Maybe add some nice gimmick like another helmet or whatever and everyone would be happy...

But no; It seems like it will take days to repair it. And the we will get noting. I really like the BioWare guys, but I'm really pissed off at the moment.

And I'm fearing that tomorrow (rather today, it's 0:05) some Xbox player will come hight and mighty and spoil the entire DLC for me...so the only thing I can do is run away from every Xbox player I know. Kinda reminds me oh the "How I met your mother" episode about the Superbowl.

This update raises more questions than it does answers.

How did 1.5g of zeros get uploaded?

Who ever built/compile it didnt check the file - it wasnt sent to QA or QA doesnt exist for pc dlc

illerianna wrote...
Why is there an EXE of zeros?

Probably an error at the start of the build process that for what ever reason didnt cause it to fail. The exe is just the container for the data, it just holds the data the 0's in this case inside it

illerianna wrote...
Is the PC version even finished? If so, why is it taking so long to upload the correct file?

They proably have to do a rebuild from scratch to find out what caused the build to fail in the first place - then they have to test it this time.

illerianna wrote...
Why didn't someone double check the file they were uploading?

Probably did the build at the end of the day and either forgot/didnt have time or their isnt anyone designated to test. Either way I'm sorry to say that is incompetence  or someone just didnt do their job, not nice to say but true :(

All these nitwit teens who are too impatient to wait a bit, maybe even a day, should be banned.

There you all go. Now you can use the time to flame me rather than **** and moan unnecessarily and have a little patience over a damn GAME!

I find it kind of hard to love a company that wees on you without the courtesy of calling it rain.
Don't get me wrong, I played almost all games from BioWare, but ever since they were brought under EA's wing, they have gone downhill, at least with the quality of their downloadable content (Warden's Keep anyone ?).

Because an expansion pack is just glorified DLC as it is? As the process for doing this sort of thing matures and evolves and the internet infrastructure across the world so too evolves, DLC will make more sense. Right now it's in an infancy of sorts. I know it's not perfect and it makes all of us mad, especially in the "Need it now" age but it's just something we're all going to have to deal with.

Not often have I seen an OP of a thread use so many words to say nothing at all.

quite poetic really, in that the subject in question was a download that used so many megabytes to DO nothing at all.

But I digress, my bellyaching will probably not help to expedite the process. I do hope this will be fixed within the day, but I haven't got high hopes. Let us hope the wait is worth it.

Perhaps they use content mirrors, behind the scenes. If so, it'd take a fair bit of time to get the file replaced on the mirror system.

I work in the ICT Industry and I have had things go wrong even though nobody really did anything wrong, its just the way it goes sometimes.

I just hope that Bioware can get it working before I have to go to bed.

Oh hell yea. The most epic failures happen when "nobody did anything wrong" and something just "fell through the cracks". I.e. everyone was just doing their jobs and everyone assumed it's someone else's job to do something in particular, and when the ****up is revealed everyone is busy shifting the blame instead of getting it fixed. Not uncommon for big companies too... like EA...
