Why is there an EXE of zeros?
who wanna bet when they compiled the file they linked the compiling tool into an empty project?

Dear Bioware:
Next time you are releasing a DLC, please test the file at least twice on all applicable OS's (a 32 bit and 64 bit of each), and upload the file to your servers at least 3 days before it launches. That is a VERY easy way to avoid such a error in the future.
It's actually just a dead file. Corrupted by the compiler into a bunch of zeroes.
The weird thing is that the file has no icon either, you think the error would've been caught by that alone.
I know, and if they couldn't catch that on their first test, something is really wrong. The only thing that logically explains an error of this magnitude is a problem with their server.

I've had similar problems like this before, but it was usually because Windows 7 (may it rot in Silicon Hell) was fighting me when I attempted to install DLCs.
But now I discover it's the company!
Shame!
I'm not going to get my 4.5 gb of download back off my ISP!!!!!!

anyone else notice that you can still download the broken file off the website?
even though they say its been taken down
I have no desire to join the raving loons demanding legal action or free stuff, but it does seem to me like - at times - that Bioware's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

exactly... a SINGLE check would have been sufficient.

"Sorry folks, but it seems all the original source files for the current build have been corrupted and lost. We'll have to work our way up with that pre-alpha PC build from 2 months ago."
Cue reports of suicide rates around the world rising for no "apparent" reason.

Aside from that, do you know how hard his job can be sometimes? Having to regulate a community full of thousands of outraged gamers. People post on this forum in an immense rate and it's his job to keep track of everything. I can't believe some people here blamed him for not being here the second we realized the PC version doesn't work. Seriously, give them time and let them fix it already. Sh*t happens.

I work in the ICT Industry and I have had things go wrong even though nobody really did anything wrong, its just the way it goes sometimes.
I just hope that Bioware can get it working before I have to go to bed.
Oh hell yea. The most epic failures happen when "nobody did anything wrong" and something just "fell through the cracks". I.e. everyone was just doing their jobs and everyone assumed it's someone else's job to do something in particular, and when the ****up is revealed everyone is busy shifting the blame instead of getting it fixed. Not uncommon for big companies too... like EA...

This update raises more questions than it does answers.
How did 1.5g of zeros get uploaded?
Who ever built/compile it didnt check the file - it wasnt sent to QA or QA doesnt exist for pc dlcProbably an error at the start of the build process that for what ever reason didnt cause it to fail. Why is there an EXE of zeros? They proably have to do a rebuild from scratch to find out what caused the build to fail in the first place - then they have to test it this time.illerianna wrote...
Is the PC version even finished? If so, why is it taking so long to upload the correct file?illerianna wrote...
Why didn't someone double check the file they were uploading?
Probably did the build at the end of the day and either forgot/didnt have time or their isnt anyone designated to test. Either way I'm sorry to say that is incompetence or someone just didnt do their job, not nice to say but true![]()

Lack of icon on link =/= dead file. Indicator something's wrong, perhaps, but not with the file.

On a serious note: how about a little bonus content like an exclusive piece of equipment as a little sorry candy for the poor PC-Players.
now thats a killer idea but would only make it take longer, you do realize that right.
Probably end up being a SMG the fires blanks (zeros)
hopefully not. xD
@Weez535: of course they can give us the little gift later.

where's the problem? hey... waiting a few hours longer doesn't mean the world stops turning... take some time and think about all the MMORPG's out there and how many problems they have with new content... patches over patches.. all in all over days.
waiting a few hours or maybe a day is no problem at all.
Even the biggest companys make mistakes... it's only human
