Yes, the game is frighteningly easy with the DLC's, especially the items. They put you ahead on levels as well, and that makes a difference. The only DLC I'd recommend enabling is the Stone Prisoner, and thats only if you want to recruit Shale.

I'm thinking of redoing a play through on Nightmare and disabling the items until the end game basically. I kind of wish I did this from the start to preserve the challenge.

Depending on your build, you may find DLC items to be helpful or not at all.

My latest build used 0 DLC items at the end game.

Also to OP, I played the game the first time and every time on Nightmare, as I do with all games (crank to highest difficulty immediately). I actually find that unless I am playing on the most challenging level, I would rather go outside or read a book...

No friendly fire does make it kind of silly.....you can just drop ridiculous AoE right on top of your group without consequence. Nightmare with 1 mage(or 0) isn't THAT easy though....

It's as easy as KOTOR - all you have to do is drop mines/traps all over the place and use the bad AI pathfinding to your advantage

 Two Mages with Force Field make even the dragons a complete joke on Nightmare.

It's not that hard if the player know what they are doing and how to 'spec' their team. With or without mage.



Tactics play a big role, for example: Leave an enemy mage alone (bad idea) VS kill it with AoS in stealth before the fight even start...
