I must be the only person here who loves interracial lovin'..the fact that my human gal can romance an elf that is male is well, awesome! Trust me my dwarf male is going to be a huge playboy and enjoy every minute of it...
Naw, you're not the only one. I love it too and will be doing it with my Dalish, and possibly one of my dwarfs.

So instead of a variety of romances, they opt for not one, but two human romances? And it occurred to me that dwarves are in a somewhat similar situation, although I'm not sure about the dwarven racial or cultural implications of such a union.
It's sad that the logic behind it is "We had elves in a previous game" (Baldur's Gate 2, 2000? Has there been any Bioware game with a romancable elf since then?) instead of focusing on what would be good and proper for this game. I don't really care too much about romances, but if you include it as an option in a game (which is far from a necessity) I'd expect it to be done properly. Especially when in a setting where elven culture is radically different compared to previously visited settings - it's not like it's a matter of carbon-copying Aerie, Viconia, or Jaheira. I feel like Silveric is getting punished because of someone else's previous infatuation with elves and the subsequent saturation of said romances.
Well, Mass Effect had Liara, and asari are sorta similar to elves... kinda.... never mind. *runs back to ME forums*
Sorry, I couldn't resist making this pointless post.

This is true. The First were incredably easy on the eyes.

Yeah, given the low birth rate of dwarves, dwarf-on-non-dwarf relationships as well as sexual deviancy would/should come with a huge social stigma.Detrodam wrote...
Dwarves not having a dwarf romance option is always odd to me. Seems like a dwarf would only really be attracted to a dwarf... buuut *Shrug*.

There is still dog....... sorry.
Wait for mods, or maybe DLCs why not.
The writers just didn't feel like writing again an elven romance for male (think of it, you had Viconia, Elanee (Obsidian) etc... Only fair we girls got our turn XD
But I completely agree with you on the problem of romancing other races when you're an elf... if you want children anyway.

I think you are missing the point. It is their game and vision......and the writers for the game will write what interest THEM. It is just a bonus if you happen to like what they have written enough to pay for the privledge of playing the game/reading the book. Why is there no Female elf Romance options....because in the story, as written, you never come across a female elf willing to follow you. The writers motivation for making it that way is their business...they are the writers.
If you feel you can create a better story that will be anywhere near as well recieved as Bioware stories you are welcome to try....and I wish you the best of luck with that.

Kind of an outdated view on this subject you have there. Sorry for breaking the news to you: The writers write what they, and the people above them, think will sell best. So making our voice heard on the official forums, while not important as some may think, isn't totally futile.

Someone without any creativity or imagination will lap up whatever they are fed, like a starved dog. No use in responding to those types, as they won't understand you anyway.

He, I remember a very similar discussion like this on the ME boards. And I still don't get people saying that romancing another race/species, if it involves only having kids of that species, is such a terrible crime to your people.Sparrow475 wrote...

Unless they are saysing that not having children at all is also a terrible crime against your people.

Writers are artist first and foremost. Even the guys in suites understand, that in many ways they don't understand. While there might be some writers out there that are great business men/women......typically it is not the case. The writers write what they write....and the business men/women sell what was written. Sure there is an editing process, but editing is not about re-writing.
now in a Collaberative effort like this there is input from a lot of different writers....but they are still writing the story they want to tell, and creating the experience they want to create. If they take an idea from any forums, it's only because they liked the idea....not because they feel any desire to appease anyone.

Talk all the trash you want.....but there was no elf female to romance because the writers didn't put one in there.
They didn't put one in there because they didn't want to.
You still bought the game....
You can complain for the rest of your life and there will still never be a female elf to Romance.
Sounds like you're the starving dog with no imagination if you are hounding bioware to satisy your urge to pounce on some Elvish chick. Go write a play and get some actresses. You might even get to kiss an honest to God real girl for once in your life.
Worst case scenerio, there is always the WoW porn videos. GLWT>
