I finished DA:O and downloaded the Witch hunt DLC. I completed it as well and for some strange reason, I can't seem to import my character over to Awakening which I was intending to start. Did any encounter similar problem like me? Or is it just me? This is so annoying as the experience and level up that I gained during the Witch Hunt DLC cannot be imported.
You can't import from Witch Hunt to Awakening.
Origins to Awakening/Gollums/Witch Hunt
Awakening to Gollums/Witch Hunt
Gollums to Witch Hunt.

I imagine that MageScientist is trying to
'Earn powerful rewards that transfer into your Awakening and Origins campaign'
Can't see how this supposed feature works myself.

Damn, Gamespot and IGN recommend not buying this DLC, Gamespot very strongly so. Shameful, because they even said that Darkspawn Chronicles was worth checking out and that has been seen as the weakest link thus far in their DA:O DLCs. This was supposed to be "Epic." Hopefully, Bioware pulls through with something of Broken Steel proportions to correct this before DAII arrives.
Wow - Gamespot are such tame corporate ****es, they NEVER say that - especially about EA products.

After you've unlocked the achievements in Witch Hunt (or the other DLC such as Leliana's Song or Golems) if you start a new game in Origins or Awakening - or reload any save from either - the loot will be sitting in your inventory.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the developers for DA2 said that you can customize the "Hawke" character. For example, I believe they said that Hawke can be male/female and that you can customize the appearance. If that's true then there is hope that we can become attached to our own personalized version of Hawke as we did with our Warden. Did anyone else read that or am I just hallucinating?
well yes, those things will be possible. But for me ( though not for everyone, as has already been opined by those liking the idea ) the fact Hawke will be voiced, immediately depersonalises the character. Just the very act of hearing anothers voice speak on my behalf does that. Its no longer 'My Hawke', rather they just become 'Hawke'.
In much the same way I wasn't attached to Shepard in Mass Effect. It was simply just Shepard, with me guiding the narrative.

One more thing tho,why you hate Hawke so much?...Warden could died if did sacrfice, croaked from taint, and since I don't think he has any fancy rez.systems like Shepard in ME2,it's only normal that u get a new guy for DA2.Never took DA personally tho,it's more like saga of diffrent stories in Feralden like someone before posted
It's not that I hate Hawke. Its more for me about how the changes are being implemeneted in DA 2 that seem to push it away from core PC RPG gamers comfort zone.
And having read through the recent thread in the DA 2 forum dealing the changes to the combat system ( one of the techhies started a Q & A thread there ), I have already seen several changes that have been confirmed as happening that I'm not happy with ( from that traditional PC gamer viewpoint )

Well, I am attatched to Shepard in Mass Effect. But, from the get go, Shepard had a "voice" (and this was coming from a long string of games, such as Baldur's Gate [PC Version], KotOR, and Planescape: Torment). Since BioWare started DA:O off without a "voice" for the Warden, I formed a different attachment to the Warden. It's hard to put into words what kind of attachment, exactly (they're in my head, but doesn't sound right when I write them out).
We spend an entire game and 3+ DLC's doing things with this Warden. I understand that not everyone did the DR. But for me, I became disenchanted when I heard that DA 2 will have this Hawke guy. My first question was "Where's the Warden?" After that, it was, "Why did they use cell-shaded graphics? It looks horrible!" (Sorry...another rant for another day).
As I stated earlier, I'll pass on DA 2. Perhaps if "your" Warden can return in DA 3 ("your" to reflect everyone's individual Warden, btw), then that is where I will pick up the series once more.

The way I see it changes are being made to it because DA 2 is meant to be strictly accessible to all gamers PC and Console alike. DAO was made more for PC gamers, which in porting it to the consoles I know some problems arose so the changes made in DA 2 are probably a way to address those problems so they don't occur.

Yes, in the combat thread I mentioned, it was pointed out that for DA: O, there were two separate builds, one for PC, one for console.
Now for DA 2 there is just one build, the same for both systems, with just the interface being different. To quote from the two staff members in that post regarding the changes..
"On DAO there were 2 separate builds because of the differences between consoles and PC (engine and tools, etc). In DA2 it's the exact same game."
and
"The combat engine is the same for all platforms -- same abilities, same AI, same animations, same effects. The major differences between the PC and the console are in the controls and interface elements."
That's one change that 'simplifies' the game, there are other changes to combat that do likewise that don't impress me but others will, of course, disagree.

Heh, its funny that, trying to describe that attachment to the warden as for me, its one that is in the head, the 'voice' being an internal one. Not the external one that Hawke will offer. What I certainly wouldn't want to happen though, in DA 2 or any future releases, is for the warden to make a cameo appearance, in the form of an NPC, and even worse than that, a voiced NPC !
Are the cell shaded graphics confirmed as final then ?
But of course, all this is off topic..
All II can say is that after this DLC, there is no way that would have been my wardens last quest. She would not have gone home after that, young as she is, and hung up her sword and staff for good.

But you know, I should add, importantly its not just my opinion that the lack of the voice for the Warden and for the Dragon Age role playing experience worked best and made it a far more personal experience.
This was Biowares' own opinion as well. Its for specifically the same reasons I pointed out that they made the warden silent. Here's the actual quote from one of the Bioware team, Greg Zeschuk, co founder of Bioware no less....
"When we looked at "Dragon Age" we sat back and thought we wanted the player to reflect their own inner voice. This was a very conscious decision. It actually harkens back to our roots and it's actually what we've done in all our games up until "Mass Effect." And things like "KOTOR" have been pretty well-loved by the fans. [smiles] There's a lot of choices in this game about how you portray yourself and how you experience it. We wanted players to have an additional sense of -- even though I'm picking a line -- I'm the one saying it in my head."
Perhaps people being overly critical towards those on here who feel less enthusiastic about changes in DA 2 and its shift towards a Mass Effect style would do well to remember Biowares own original stance on some of these issues when setting out the DA franchise.
That Bioware have so easily lost faith in their own direction, digging up their roots in the process and chucking them on the compost heap, is what disappoints..

I totally agree! It would be a huge mistake to have "our" Wardens make a cameo in the form of an NPC - lol! And there has to be more to the Warden's story based on how Witch Hunt ended. As you said, there's no way the story could end that way whether you chose to leave with Morrigan or retrieved the gift she left. Not to mention the mysterious disappearance of the Warden "some years" later. If BioWare doesn't intend to bring our wardens back, why make it a point to include the wardens disappearence in the Epilogue of Awakenings? Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part....
