The SB himself being some demonic (*cough* Dragon Age Ogre *cough*), massive badass was a dumb choice, IMO. He's an information broker, not a hitman. He should've been a Volus with some big ol' Krogan or Asari bodyguard (or two). Desk-jockeies ≠ badasses. Extra points lost for his
Bioware could have used this opportunity to introduce a female Turian, Krogan or Salarian - it think it would have been a big surprise and would have made many people happy.

Unless it is foreshadowing for ME3. If that is the case, then the SB being this uber badass is a good thing, it lets us assess the species while accomplishing something useful.

I fully support this. I want to know more about the yahg. I see nothing wrong with the DLC adding a new and unknown race instead of one of the familar ones.
Plus, being pre-space flight leads to interesting futures. Salarans uplifted the krogan with desasterious affects...what would happen if...say...the batarians uplifted the yahg?

might be the best piece of dlc ever released, anywhere, EVER. a bit short, but honestly i feel like a got my money's worth, which i rarely get out of DLC.
as many have noted, its written better than the main game, its cinematic, intense, and at its end i actually feel like i resolved a lot of loosed ends while still giving me some new story elements to get exited for. i thought the car chase was going to feel out of place, but it was tense and atmospheric, and liara/shep had a vey amusing dynamic throughout the scene. excellent dialogue choices; really managed to finally get consistent and believable reactions out of shepard; no 3 completely wrong choices to describe how you felt on horizon, no "lets discuss something else/ i should go..."
singlehandedly renewed my hope for ME3; its that good.
its :wizard:wizard smiley:wizard: good.

The details mentioned on the squad dossiers were of some concern to me. More reasons for Shepard to be paranoid. Apparently everybody but Jacob has some crazy personal issues. The bit on TIM personal habits was particularly amusing. Damn that lucky bastard. The videos were amusing, particularly Udina assaulting some random guy. I just wish you could tell what was being said.
Oh and the VI assistant that floats around has some interesting things to say. It pointed out the turian councilor has a mistress. I want to nail that SOB with that and destroy his credibility. Nobody dismisses my claims!

Really ? There's someone on Shephards squad actively recognizing the LotSB content ? Who ? and what ?GuardianAngel470 wrote...

8.5/10 (best DLC so far)
Cons:
-Evil Spectre "plot twist" was way to obvious. I actually was mildly annoyed by the fact that Shephard had to act at least somewhat surprised when Liara "revealed" the whole dirty Spectre thing.
-Mute squad (consistent problem with *all* DLC. I know *why* they are mute but it still negatively impacts the DLC).
-Fade to black love scene. Quite a downer for the long awaited reunion with Liara. ME1 did it much better. ME2 somehow chickened out on this. Pity LotSB stays true to ME2 in this part.
-I thought LotSB was a bit short. And that's not only because I really enjoyed it. It really was pretty short for 10$.
Some of the squad have dialog.
I must have missed it.

I was very disappointed with the main game, but LotSB gave me a reason to still play ME 2. And by the way, BioWare, I even bought some other DLCs, only for that reason.

Meeting another Spectre, working with her and eventually fighting her all deserved much more plot and character development. I mean, what did we really learn about Spectres from that exchange other than that they're simply no good at all, nothing but trouble, unless they're Shepard? The ONLY respectable Spectre we've ever met was Nihlus, and he died in the first 5 minutes of the first game. Every one else is just bad news. If we ever meet another Spectre, I'll have no choice but to assume that they are the next chief antagonist. (-1)
I'm also really disappointed that they had to pull some new species out of their sleeve in order to make Shadow Broker's identity a "big" revelation. Well, sure, nobody guessed it because nobody could guess what one of the writers would just dream up. I wish they'd kept his identity more closely tied to established species and galactic political structures. it really felt like a cop-out making him some ultra-rare alien that nobody but Liara (no surprise there) knew anything about. That he usurped the prior Shadow Broker's position explains nothing about how the prior Shadow Broker rose to a position of such power and influence. (-1)
Also disappointed that Liara still has her plot armor, while no other character past or present, not even Shepard has received such special treatment from the writers. She's a bit of a Mary Sue, that one. Oh well, maybe she'll die in ME3. Though I'm beginning to suspect the only way to kill her will be to let the Reapers destroy everything. (-1)
Those gripes aside, it was an exceptional piece of DLC. It had some nice combat, and I was happy to see some more natural looking environments that weren't littered with waist-high shipping crates in convenient strategic locations. I like how varied it was--crime scene investigation, car chase, exciting combat (having a vanguard opponent use charge was a nice touch!) and some touching personal moments with Shepard and Liara.

Throwing in a female Turian, Krogan or Salarian as the SB would not sufficiently explain how the SB processes so much information. Barla Von speculates that the SB is actually a whole group of people working together as one. Having a highly intelligent Yagh with excellent memory and cognitive ability is an answer to this question, and one that no one could have predicted. For this reason, I think that the decision to make the SB a Yagh was the right one (instead of the cliched and predictable AI/Liara's father etc etc theories).
There is still a loose end however- since he wasn't a Yagh, how did the original Shadow Broker manage? Or was his network smaller and more manageable back then? Maybe he was an AI, or a group of people (as Barla Von speculates).
