Easily the best Bioware DLC, better than any other ME dlc, and far, far surpassing the Dragon Age DLC. Exciting set pieces, challenging bosses tense scenes, and they did some fantastic work developing Liara's character. The terminals in the base at the end reveal some interesting story details and good upgrades all around-especially respeccing squadmates. Good humor mixed in too-I bust out laughing seeing our favorite reporter's other interviews.
Only real downsides were the lack of squad dialogues after bringing Garrus and Tali with me-but since this was only a dlc it's understandable. Really, I only hold off giving this a perfect score because there's always room to improve and make the next dlc even better.

Like OP said
1. Intense cinematics, could have given Hollywood a run for its money. Only limitations were the tech behind the game. (Awkward facial expressions during some scenes)
2. Great story and voice acting (Bioware doesn't get points for that anymore)
3. Best boss in the series. I was just thinking about how ME series should have a boss who can charge or jump...
4. Intel from the ...intel center. Many backstory to teammates, feel like you know much more about them.
5. Intel center a great idea/add-on. I would pay for just that..
6. Given closure to the Liara romances, from the random dialogue during the car chase and combat missions, we can still infer that under that mask, Liara is till the old naive Dr. T'soni.
Con
Just one: The race for the Shadow Broker, Yahg, seems like a bit abrupt intervention. Maybe lay some backstory or hints before giving us this "surprise".
Felt the Yahg just existed because they had to have a surprise for who the Broker was.
I have to disagree with that bit about the yahg. I was expecting even a Geth at this point, but then, I open the door and I see... well, one ugly sonuvabi*ch. I was spazzing about finally meeting an organic Reaper... like, one of the species who conceived of the Reapers, created them, and were hidden away in the galaxy. Then I realized that was too far-fetched even for BioWare... glad to have a codex entry on them.
I think it was cool though to have him be what NO ONE expected.

Though yea I give it a 10. Loved every minute of it. Kind of mixed up previous DLC, like part was the same style as Kasumi DLC, part Overlord, then threw some new stuff in to the mix.

Awesome DLC, definitely the best so far. Great areas and great fights with a good pace and well-done story. And the banter between Liara and Shepard was fantastic. I must say the ME teams are getting better and better. If ME3 is full of missions like the Kasumi and LotSB DLCs then it's going to be an incredible game.
The only thing taking points off was its brevity. But I guess we have more "bridge" DLC in the works, so I'll be looking forward to that!

The begining mission lacks a bit cinematically, using farmiliar actions/motions. nicely picks up at the car chase, very funny, but strange in the mission loadout.(leaving a team mate behind. where as in overlord shows what happens to your squad when shepard goes AI. just abit more polish.) the carchase reminds me of great scifi scenes in the movies, a nod, eg irobot.
great mini boss design, SB boss was ok. great little touches at the end. lair design was great except 1 instance in level design, i got lost. i found the path (around a corner and down a sloop) great music! some textures LQ.

I agree. I thought Meer was excellent, especially the banter between shep and liara while waiting for the door to open on SB's ship.Thalorin1919 wrote...

Some of meers dialgoue sounded horrible and ruined some great moments for me
Seriously?
Meer has made alot of progress on his voice acting from ME1 to now. He was alot better in ME2, and his voice acting in Overlord I thought was great. But here, I thought he really brought more personality and emotion to Shepard then ever before.
You're high.
LOTSB gets a 9/10 for me. I hope the next DLC is of this quality... you've raised the bar, Bioware.

I can pretty much agree with all these points. The dossiers are overall very good, some of them really sad, some incredibly funny. Possibly the best writing I've seen from Bio yet. Definite 10/10.
Edit: Re: Yahg being a convenient invention to just find a race for Shadow Broker. Or then again you're going to be given the option the Salarians had with the Krogans, uplifting a powerful species to fight a common enemy, and facing the consequences...

Vasir was tougher than the SB.
On one hand, she's a Spectre. This is almost expected. I mean, this is the same tier of badass that Shepard, Saren, and Nihlus (okay, Nihlus got owned by surprise and unfairly so I'll give him an out) were.
On the other hand, I dusted the SB almost by accident.
Story and environments:
Seriously, this gets a 10/10 from me. The dialogue between Shepard and Liara (My Shepard was a bickering old crank who lurved Liara in ME1 but upon meeting weird Liara in ME2 ended up falling for this sweet sweet Quarian chick) was top-notch, snappy, and often hilarious. Shepard was funnier and more charismatic here than he usually was. Liara's dialogue was all brilliant too. What was disappointing was the lack of involvement by the third and fourth wheels of my squad dialogue-wise but I guess that's to be expected when releasing DLC so far after the fact. I dream of DLC which ropes in a huge ensemble cast of regulars, though. I really do. The story was awesome and really flowed well. You guys should all give yourselves pats on the back. It made me want to play the whole game over again a THIRD time which is quite an achievement. The SB's ship was an awesome idea, as was the car chase.
I am a bit curious about the Shadow Broker's motivations, but they were addressed somewhat by Liara's exposition at the end. He was apparently grasping for straws. Too bad Shepard's just, ultimately, someone NOBODY should get in the way of. Notice our Yahg Shadow Broker friend is a little bit like the scummy, evil, intergalactic Dread Pirate Roberts. This was kind of smart and clever and set up Liara's succession perfectly. Even though my Shepard lurves him some Tali I totally want to see Liara as a squadmate in ME3. Then again, I really want Wrex back. And Garrus. And Ash/Kaidan (as well as Tali of course).
Overall? Bioware - keep making DLC like this and I will keep purchasing it, keep loving it, and praise you guys as the greatest AAA game developers out there. You've earned it.

I wanted to make my own topic but why not continue here, it'll be heard just as well. This DLC was amazing. The level of dialogue, acting, writing story and the beauty of all the effects and locations was nothing short of amazing. Totally on a different scale from what I was expecting.
And the way the Liara romance played out here was on a completely different level compared to anything before. It was sensitive, realistic, beautiful. I've always liked romances as a part of normal social life that belong to any RPG with real character development. But this DLC was just incredible, all the little nuances. Holding hands, hugs, the slight smiles and nods, the words, the timing with those words.
Even Bioware has the problem of sometimes introducing their romances just a tad bit in an embarrassing manner. Somehow a little too teen or just forced or nerdy. I mean, not complaining! But there it is, some parts have felt like that. This was completely mature, so realistic, and just amazing all around.
And just the gameplay, the scenes.. the dialogue (oh hell yes the dialogue was so damn fun I just kept laughing and smiling while driving with the car, with the hostage scene and all
But I'm going in circles now. Great job, absolutely fantastic. Thanks BW!
Edit: Oh and yes, I DEMAND (demand I say!) more Liara! Her personality has evolved SO much from ME. From that meek little girly girl into a strong, decisive and capable woman yet still with her old soft and ultimately good heart within. I absolutely require her as a squadmate in ME3. This DLC was like the last piece of a puzzle to make her character progression whole from ME to ME2's Illium information broker, and revealed our Liara to be one of the more interesting personalities BW has created. Something I honestly was not expecting, what with her apparent weakness in ME. But there, it's been said. I want MORE!

9.85/10, and only not a 10 because I couldn't recruit her...though I know recruiting the Shadow Broker would make no sense. Still...sniff:crying:

I was extremely worried the Shadow Broker would be something silly, but that alien grizzly bear gladiator thing was awesome and engaging it in melee was even more so. I also expected to hate the car chase, but I ended up enjoying it. The ship hull section is probably the most ambitious and aesthetically pleasing map in all of Mass Effect. And for the cherry on top there's this asari called Liara...

It would have been perfect if they fixed the problem with the squadmate points distribution instead of just allowing us to respec them (which leaves the problem itself unsolved)

It's by far the best DLC we have had for Mass Effect 2. Overlord was decent but had many faults mainly being too silent and boring in most places. LOTSB has way more life to it. The plot is kind of simple but good enough to work and theres lots of exciting moments along the way. The car chase was different to anything we have done in Mass Effect so far and it made for a fun sequence. The dialogue was great with plenty of banter between Shepard and Liara and the bosses were far better than anything in Mass Effect 2. I felt the ending was satisfying enough and we got plenty of goodies out of it to read, watch and some stuff for the Captain's Quarters. The downside would be the few glitches that are standard to Mass Effect 2. Characters acting odd during dialogue scenes and randomly sliding out from cover etc. My main gripe would be like with Overlord theres a lack of contributions from team members...Is it THAT hard to do? There was a single comment for each team member when theres an explosion in the apartments. That's one more comment than Overlord but still it feels odd that they don't speak. They recorded a ton of Banter for Shepard and Liara yet left out other team members. They didn't even reply when the Shadow Broker comments on them.
Apart from the niggling annoyences with dialogue i really enjoyed playing through it it had lots of action and drama and had me on the edge of my seat at times wondering what will happen next.
