I just saw this.

I'm having hard time with "squadmates rating"
I bring Jacob with me in a lot of missions, specially playing sentinel or adept. He has incendiary and pull field, very useful. But on the Normandy I think I only talked to him once, just to explore the game and I was terribly bored.
What are we supposed to rate there ?

Rate the character, not how well they do gameplay-wise. Do you like them? Do you enjoy hearing what they have to say? Do they make an impact on you emotionally?

55, I suggest you edit the OP to clarify you want people to rate the way characters are written and not how they perform combat-wise. There are quite a few cases where those are completely different things.

Just saying, she might be someone's absolute favorite and they won't have the chance to vote.

I like her a lot myself. I would easily give her an 8 whereas Samara received a rather low score from me.

That is a slight bias on my part, perhaps. But, rest assured, the other numbers are accurate. Or, as accurate as people choose to vote. I am certain some people are voting twice here and there.

Try survey monkey if you want a survey that people can't participate in twice. My school sends these out all the time to ask the students what they want.

I'll give that try, maybe. Thanks, fortunesque. But Google Docs makes it easy to export the data as a spreadsheet...

It might have tools that give you information for that. I'm not sure.

Well, doing some additional analysis:

Tali

Average: 6.79
Standard Deviation: 3.25

That standard deviation is just mind-boggling. Then again, many people appear to be purposely voting her down.

Liara:

Average: 7.26
Standard Deviation: 2.5

Legion:

Average: 8.04
Standard Deviation: 2.11

Standard deviations are much higher across the board now, compared to the last three surveys.

Honestly, this pole has been done 4 times. The deviation is more then likely the fact that people are getting tired of doing this "best character" pole. Or just not paying attention anymore.
There's no way Tali can go from second most popular to completely middle of the road unless people are purposely voting her down or not voting at all.
Or Garrus for that matter, who was number 1 and is now behind Leigon. Leigon is awesome to be sure, but he has never beaten Garrus in a pole.

Given the state of the board in recent months, I can see why Tali's average has slipped. A few dozen people more than the norm are voting her down and giving her a 1 simply because of the way that the Tali thread went off the road.

And I haven't ran this survey in over six months, so these aren't ran that terribly often. The first three were ran almost concurrently, one after the other.

morinth should not have been excluded. If it was under the pretense of avoiding skewed results, take out Tali as she is generally hated in the forums.

everyone assumes people hate tali due to her fans. Yes they were obsessives and probably did ruin her image, but people can't comprehend that many dislike Tali as a character.

I hate the poorly written braindead rommance that appeals to horny nerds. I find her an uninteresting whiny character.

I can see how Tali's romance was quite one-dimensional, yes, but I do believe that her high standard deviation can be explained mostly by the negative reaction to Tali fandom on this board. Even as a Tali fan, it grew to be a little too much.

Not to say that there weren't people who didn't like her to begin with.

With respect, couldnt those statements apply to any of the romancable characters? Go to the Liara or Miranda fans and say you dont like the character and you can be sure they will react just as the Tali fans did.
None of the Romance dialogues were Shakespear, I like Tali, i think her romance was the best written, you may like Jack or Miranda or another  character and see there romance as the best written. I try to see the appeal of all characters whether or not i like them. Others seem to make up their minds and attack anyone with a different viewpoint.
My point is that a lot of people are indeed voting against the popular characters just because they want to spite those fans. Which is rather foolish.

Those results are far from accurate and  this poll is flawed. Set  up another poll where people can only vote once, and not multiple times.
