Then, just run the daupdater.exe. The file type in the Windows Explorer should read "Dragon Age: Origins DLC". Do not unzip the file, just rename it.
Then there's a possibility, the file's corrupted. If that's the case, re-download it.

Edit for more explanation: Compressing a file is a little like folding a shirt so that it will fit in your drawer. The folded shirt takes up less space. Similarly, a compressed file has been "folded" to make it smaller so that your download will take less time. Sections of the file with repeated values (like textures that are reused over and over) are marked with the computer equivalent of a ditto sign--the value is recorded once and every other instance of it in the file is simply pointed to the first one. The problem is that programs such as the DAUpdater don't know what to do with those "ditto" signs. They need the full value to be in the file every time it comes up. A folded shirt may be more compact, but you can't wear it while it is folded. You have to unfold it, or in the computer's case, reverse the compression. Zip is the Windows native compression format. Any file with ".zip" as the extension will need to be extracted to be used in any way. Many modders use other compression formats such as rar and 7z.. They are just different ways of "folding" the file to make it smaller. Again, any file with those extensions must be extracted in order to be used.
If for some reason the "Extract All" option does not appear when you right-click on the zip file, you can download a utility such as 7-zip file manager found here that will extract any of the formats I listed.

To access your content on the PC, please ensure you log in with the same account you used while redeeming this code on the social website. Once you have done this, your content will automatically start downloading the next time you log in with this account in-game.
If the content does not start downloading automatically in the game, please follow these steps:
Right click on the link below and select "Save Target As", or the equivalent in your browser. Save the .dazip file to your computer. If your browser tries to rename it to a .zip file, rename it back to .dazip after download.
Find the daupdater.exe application. It is usually located under \\\\bin_ship in your Dragon Age folder (for example C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\bin_ship\\\\daupdater.exe). Double click on it to open it.
Click on "Select DAZIPs". Navigate to where you have saved the .dazip file and open it.
Now the .dazip file will appear on the Install tab. Select it on the list and click "Install Selected."
Sami is talking BS in this case. Otherwise useful info. Winrar is a good app for those *.7z, *.zip and *.rar etc files.

Hopefully you don't have "Hide file extensions..." turned on. Depending on your version of Windows, you're can enable/show file extensions, but it takes some doing.

The problem here is that your browser converts the .dazip file to a .zip file automatically, then if you rightclick the name of the file AFTER downloaded and select RENAME, it won't allow you to change the .zip part. At least that is my case. So you have to do that BEFORE downloading the file. Go to http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php, Click More info PC. RIGHT CLick the DOWNLOAD link below. Select Save Target as... In the screen that appears, choose where you want youir file saved and then go down and click the right arrow where it says Save as type... and select All files. Now click the arrow above this one where the name of the file appears, and it pops out a screen where you can select the DAO_PRC_STR_1.0.zip file and change the .zip extension to .dazip. Click the SAVE button.
That worked for me. Hope this helps. I know it's frustrating. Shame on Bioware
I don't think, it's Bioware, which is to blame. Changing file extensions may be a bit tricksy unless you log in as the adminstrator (Win7, Vista) meaning, you ought to have the rights to do so.
Anyways, one thing to do is to change the way Windows displays the extensions. To do that, open Windows Explorer (Windows flag, start button + E is a neat shortcut).
Select "Tools" menu, then "View" tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Click on "Apply to all folders", OK, and you're done. Choose "Detals" from the "Wiew" menu, so you'll see better, what's going on.
Then just go to the desired DLC downloaded from aforementioned page, right-click and choose "Rename"
Answer "Yes" to the question "If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable. (In this case it will not). Are you sure, you want to change it?"

Thank you Yuliboe - I was getting baffled by trying to go zip to dazip after download which wasn't working. Having followed your advice this is now installing...
