My problem has nothing to do with the whole Windows 7 64 bit issue anymore; however, I am still having trouble installing the latest DLC.  For whatever reason, every time I try to install, the installation states that I do not have Mass Effect 2 installed when I do. 

I suppose it has something to do with having installed the game in a different drive rather than the typical C Drive.  Nonetheless, I had no problems installing previous DLCs onto the game.

Anything that may remedy this predicament?

Not only will it NOT install for me but every time I try to start up Mass Effect 2 now I get a message saying cannot start error 83....

Its the steam copy of it if that helps any and yes I tried running as administrator.

Well, might as well start a band wagon for those of us who are left out on the fun due to these installation issues.

When I try to install the new file the computer almost freezes and the desktop and explorer becomes unresponsive. Eventually, about 20 min later, I get;

File system error (-1073741510)

I run Vista 64 bit

I can't install it at all & I can't get to run it as where it says download I only got dashes now & its disappeared from the downloadable content page. waste of 800 pts. I also can't delete a saved file but cant run it either

every time i try to open the lair of the shadow dlc which i downloaded a message keeps popping up saying this version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows im running and ive have every other dlc for mass effect 2 and have never had this problem help please!!!!

glad to see i am not the only one having issues installing. i am getting the lovely " this version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows " error.

I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. tried all the tricks i could think of .. run as admin, run in compat modes. no love at all. all the other DLC worked fine. I am trying another download . . unfortunately, it is super slow for me for some reason. looking at 9 hours...

For those of you with compatibility issues regarding to Windows 7 or Vista, that issue was resolved when they replaced the DLC download with an updated one. So marineman225 and kidego, you should both be able to play once you re-download the DLC.

But of course, if you still have the same problem after you downloaded the updated DLC, then nevermind, continue posting your problems.

Having trouble myself, the exe file is crashing my windows as well and yes I did re-download after it was stated it was fixed.

Is the size of the file still 1.51 GBs?

It should still be 1.51 GBs as far as I am aware.

I can't install but don't want to make my own thread. I'm having the problem where the installer just plain doesn't run when trying to open it and lags the whole PC.

More or less the same problem I am having Faction, on top of it crashing my windows now I can't even delete it as it just freezes up when I try.

ok well I fixed the issue with the game itself not starting but try as I might the DLC just won't install.

I don't get a pop message I don't get anything in fact the folder its in freezes when I even try to install it.

an hour later I'll get it asking if I want to allow it so of course I say yes and nothing happens after that this is getting so frustrating I'm starting to want my money back.. I don't care how good it is anymore.

ok so I guess i'm not the only person having this problem. I click the installer and winows crashes or it just takes forever and I just got a pop up asking me if I wanted to run the installer (a while later) and I said yes and nothing happened.

All this time wasted when I could be enjoying myself.

I'm not gonna make a scene or anything.... Either this gets fixed or I learn my lesson... I mean I broke my rule of never buying DLC because their almost never worth the money.

I've downloaded the fixed version and my computer just freezes(thinking) after I double click the link to open and install the download.

lol it says that it doesn't support my version of ME2 installed language. Bioware didn't even gave an option to install English version oh me2.

I'm from Hungary and I've got the digital version of ME2 CE. Is here someone who got this too and could install an play this DLC?

this is starting to appear strange, i downloaded the new DLC but when i try to run it the install seem to start but closes promptly...no warning or fail notice no nothing just a window and a millisecond later no window



at list i seem luckier then most here, at list it doesn't crash my PC

the same issue i have.. trying to redownload it.. its annoying considering its a pretty large download and i had to delete other things so i could install this
