Okay I'm not sure what is wrong here. I just recently bought Dragon Age Awakening. I bought it brand new from Wal-Mart. After I finish my latest game of Dragon Age Origins I put it in. The main title screen pops up and I press start and it says Checking Save Data and I wait....about three hours later it is still doing that. Every time I try to play the game it does this. Could someone help me out here? Because I would like to play Awakening I really would.

I have this same problem -.-
I have DA:O and Awakening, and did everything I thought was right, i.e. use the patch included on the install disc before installing Awakening data. My game is patched to 1.05 and updated, and this "checking save data" problem still persists. Anyone else have any ideas?

The problem is fixed! I plugged in my ethernet cable, and apparently despite the fact that my Origins was patched to 1.05, apparently Awakening has its own 1.04 patch, which after downloading and installation, allows the "Checking save data" message to finally resolve normally.
It even installed this patch in a separate file from the Origins data.
Hope this helps anyone else that might be suffering from the same problems!

From what I know is... (if you have a retail DISC)
When you first install dragon age awakening, you need to install a patch for "dragon age origins" (that patch is on the awakening disc which is not the latest ps3 1.02 patch). You then install game data for the awakening.
But it sounds like people have trouble, after they install the latest ps3 1.02 patch first. I am thinking maybe you have to install Awakening's patch before this 1.02 patch for origins.
One solution can be deleting the all the game data utility, disable the network connection on the PS3 and then reinstall both the Origins and Awakening, then get back online and get the latest 1.02 patch for Origins.
