Yea...On Hardcore or Insanity I can see the merit (as I have said before)....But I play on Normal because I really dont see (other than comparing E-peens lol) the reason for constantly playing on Insanity except for getting the achievement lol

People can't play on the higher difficulties because that's what they find fun? That's news to me. Especially considering that I play every game I buy on the highest difficulty precisely because it's what I find most fun. I couldn't possibly care less about achievements.

I applaud you sir because there are some that do that try and think that they're better than other people who play on anything less than the highest difficulty lol

Well, I play on Insanity for the fun and on Normal for the story (or on Veteran in ME2's case). But I don't think I'm better for playing on Insanity. I also don't give a flip about achievements. That's an Xbox thing and of not much use to a PC player.

The only use I could really think of for Stasis over Singularity is on the collector missions where I might stasis a Scion then watch it fall if/when the platform moves. To me, that sounds like the height of hilarity.

I'm just about to get to the Collector platforms on my Adept w/ Stasis playthrough. If you can do that, Stasis will be redeemed and will never come off my Adepts!!!

Could be good for locking down Scions and Harbinger if nothing else.

THIS, with regards to Harbinger.  Make him sit on his thumb while you remove all his respawns.

Just use flashbang... Harbinger just follows you around and you can still shoot him.

I suppose in the future when Ms. Norman says something about a class "getting a buff" or anything else "getting a buff" we should realllllllllly take it with a grain of salt....Or, as someone else on the forums said yesterday somewhere "Take your expectactions for BioWare and divide by 2 so that you can keep your own expectations in check" orrrrrr something like that....Was friggin brilliant whatever the exact wording lol

I could never justify having an ability on a character for only using in one or two scenarios....That's just me though Posted Image

A question for people who say this is a good power...are you referring to it being on a Adept or on another class? Do you believe it is worth taking over all the other bonus powers available to the Adept?

The reason I ask this is because, due to my own expectations, I had assumed this was to be the "Adept buff" that Ms. Norman was referring to. I just find it odd that this ability seems to be more useful for other classes than it is for Adepts. Unless future DLC is going to make a use for being able to lock down 2 extremely powerful units at a time, Adepts have an ability that locks down one person already, and the people it doesn't work on are not difficult to defeat (I'm talking about on Insanity; it's the only mode I play).

Stasis is definately NOT an adept buff. If you want to be a caster adept and want to use a bonus power other bonus powrers like Energy Drain would serve you much better. If you want to be an adept that shoots a lot an ammo power or barrier would be much better too.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is a nice DLC but it failed to deliver an adept buff.

Who cares? You can faceroll normal with no powers at all, so its effectiveness there means squat.

She never clearly stated that there would be an Adept buff.  People read into her comments, spread rumors, and were then disappointed.  I can certainly see how you could interpret her comments to hint at an Adept or Biotic buff.  Indeed, that's what I was expecting.  But this is really just a lesson in how rumors can spread and blow things out of proportion.

She did not use the word buff but the concept was there.

""You want us to make the adept more powerful in ME3? Who says we'll wait for ME3?"

"I want shadow broker to come out so I can start my adept insanity playthrough of mass effect 2!"

True enough, the first quote is technically a question but with the question she implied the adept would be buffed. People obviously tied the second statment to her first tweet as saying there would be a buff to the adept in Shadow Broker..

In her latest blog she also implied Stasis was the adept buff. Clearly stasis does not make the adept more powerful.

I disagree.  She explains the benefits of Stasis in the article you linked.  No, this isn't the upgrade that some were hoping for, an upgrade that allows Biotics to pass through defenses.  But that doesn't mean that it's useless for Adepts.  I don't want to turn this thread into another "Do Adepts suck on Insanity?" argument, though.  So let's keep this about Stasis.  Why don't you think Stasis makes the Adept more powerful?  Is it because it's a bonus power, and therefore available to other classes?

I think its more the fact that Stasis is only quasi-useful and when compared to most other powers....Well....sucks lol.

Both of the Adept Passive evolutions benefit stasis (not to mention all the biotic upgrades you'd be going for anyway); that's probably why they said it was an Adept buff.

Anyway, I like it, because my Vanguard already had Barrier and I wanted something different. But oh lord that cooldown.

We've been over this twice already.  It's a viable option on harder difficulties, as you've said.   Similarly, Shredder Ammo can only be considered to approach viability on lower difficulties.  On lower difficulties, no bonus power is going to trump what the Adept already has.

Agreed but I also think that people may have been looking (hoping) for something more "universal" to ALL settings and not just useful in Hardcore/Insanity and thus vastly disappointed.

First, the fact that it is available to all other classes disqualifies it as an adept buff.

Second, it is not at all the optimum bonus power for adepts so it does not make adepts more powerful.

Third, if I am going to use a bonus power I would rather use a power that makes my other powers useful. Energy Drain for instance. ED strips shields, which are the most common defense in the game, boosts my shield regeneration, and makes clears the way for me to actually get some use out of my other powers without firing my guns in gimped soldier mode. ED is massively more useful than stasis in the vast majority of situations.

Adept players did not need another lockdown power, especially not one that makes the enemy immune to damage. Adepts needed a power that would help them kill protected enemies with their powers, not one that protects enemies from their powers. Heh.

Only if you're illiterate. Discussing strategy in normal difficulty is pointless because it's easy enough that anything will work. It has nothing to do with "implying that they are better".

stasis saved my ass more than once against the SB, albeit he didn't get frozen for long but it was long enough to make a run for it
