The irony here is that when I started Awakening, I only used a post-epilogue save because my warrior originally started the expansion completely naked, having defeated the Archdemon while wearing the Warden Commander armour. I went to camp to change armour and then used a post-epilogue save so that I could actually start Awakening with some clothes on.

Well that sucks. Everything was great so far, and bam, she does not recognize the ritual. Thanks for the fix, but I am not willing to go back that far and ignore Awakening, at least not for this character. I hope Bioware will find a way to fix this.

I'm curious how well the import will work with DA2, because if something so small can fail...

Well if you took a save before the DR, then Morrigan would recognize it never happened. I wish the DLC should only allow you to take saves after Origins was finished since it makes this assumption but whatever.

a post coronation save has been validated by others

I just wanted to share my experience if it helps anyone at all. I played Witch Hunt first using an Awakening import that was imported from a camp - post coronation save because I play a warrior using Warden Commander Armor and Starfang, but because these items don't transfer I had to change my equipment so as not to start Awakening naked. The bug presented where she said I refused the ritual when I didn't, yet she had a child with me which I assume is the common presentation of this bug, (I wonder if this is the default response to newly created characters as well). I tried again using the same save from Origins I used to import to Awakening but without the Awakening campaign for the same reasons of not wanting to fight darkspawn in my underwear and bare fists and the bug presented the same again except this time I had Morrigan's ring in my inventory which she recognised. All this evidence seems to support the OP's theory so now I have to start again from Darkspawn attacked Redcliffe just to get a post epilogue save that I can import from just so I can have equipment. Call me precious but I think playing Witch Hunt with no weapon or armor would suck

This is truly a shame because like everyone else i went back to change armor/complete return to ostagar (because of the long delay on the ps3 so it came out after all my playthroughs) and now she doesn't recognize my DRs. I guess i will have to back track and try this now. It troubles me that arguably the biggest decision in the game got bugged, what does that mean for our imports to DA 2? I really hope they fix this!

I don't know why your characters wouldn't have your post-campaign epilogue save attached to your origins character? Unless you guys did a LOT after the death of the archdemon, you should still be able to get it. It's the one that has a black picture with a design... it doesn't show a screenshot in game. If all you did was quicksave and save directly, then the autosave should be there...

According to what I noticed on my PC, this post-campaign save does not even occupy an autosave slot. It is, in fact, stored in:
My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters\\[char_name]\\Saves\\PostCampaign_1
where [char_name] is the name of your character.

And in load game list, it appears as:
Post-Campaign Save (1) - Epilogue.

So it is autosaved, but it has it's own separate slot? Which means... the only way to get rid of it is to save over it or delete it? hmm... yeah you guys should have it.

Ok this is what I did:
-I did the post epiloque save to do RTO
-then I uploaded that to awekening
-then I uploaded my pre- final battle aweking save to GoA (since I did not get an epilogue autosave)
-then I uploaded my pre-final battle save to witch hunt (since people said it was better than the epilogue autosave)
and got the bug

I also did the post-epilogue DAO save and got the bug
I then did the epilogue (post coronation) and got no bug

I think it may have to do with interacting with morrigan like some have said, she treated me like a friend instead of a lover. I am definitely not redoing awakening over but I can redo GoA.

Some people have also said not to talk to morrigan post-epilogue, I cant try that because the only save I have close to that is one with me after talking to morrigan.

Or it could simply have to do with the game loading up Morrigan in your camp after the epilogue when she is suppose to be gone... who knows what the direct cause it... well hopefully Bioware does now.

I didn't use the mirror to rekindle us after the arch-demon. I actually had her break up with me mid game, then I found the mirror to re-kindle. We were in love after that up to the end. Although I did use an after auto save... Save. I did return to ostagar after, and messed with my stash. I have the bug.

yeah using the mirror during the game is fine, but the after auto save... save is what caused the bug.

Well post epilogue no one is supposed to be there, but your in the camp "before" the final battle. Im not sure if not talking to morrigan solves the bug. All I know is that the DA team has its work cutout for them.

In another note I had actually used the mirror during the main campaign because I loved messing with morrigan and I needed some quick approval.

BioWare is releasing a final 1.04a patch on Monday that fixes the auto savegame issue ending with Witch Hunt and Morrigan not acknowledging your previous decisions and the Dark Ritual and you can keep your save games too.

Because Dragon Age is a very complex game.
