This game is too difficult, even on easy mode! You get way too many enemies for only 4 characters to handle...

I'm 45 hours into Nightmare Mode on my first play-through and absolutely adoring the difficulty level.

Seriously, do you pause each battle and assign each party member what to do ?
Do you have a healer in your party ? Do you have a tank ?
If the answer to these 3 questions is yes then I don't see how you can die on easy, otherwise start working on it.

The OP in this thread is actually helpful: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/9/index/146463

You probably aren't using crowd control abilities to stun and disable your enemies. You NEED to do this if youre having trouble. Cone of cold is a good one, paralyze, forcefield, any of the warrior stun/knockdown skills will make the enemies' numbers count for little.

I play the XBOx version and there is just too many things that is going on on the screen to effective control a party. I primary just focus on my character and let the AI handle the NPCs. The Interface for the console is just that clunky. The NPC AI is very stupid.

You also need to set all character's tactics to say, at least somewhere in the routine, "Enemy - Lowest Health - Attack."
Especially if you are on a console (no overhead view to make it easier to assign orders)

1. Just standing around watching the action won't cut it.
2. The NPC AI is as good as you make it through the tactics menue, bottom line: if they suck, you suck.
3. The console Interface is clunky but fully managable and if you get used to it as effective as in the pc-version.
If you just focus on one character you get overwhelmed, that's what the pause-function is for, if you don't pause, you loose, simple as that.

Your original post was kinda useless. It didn't give us any infomation or anyway to help you. What companions do you have, what level are you and what class are you using etc?

You are sure you're on easy right? You should beable to play that in real time with just your main character. Is it redcliffe you're having a problem with? If so, there are a series of quests in the town to get people to help you, light some barricades on fire, etc. This particular quest is a bit notorious for being rough. Let the templars take the brunt of the attacks, then when you go down, you can try taunting and running groups of mobs up to the templars.
As mentioned, we really need more details as to where things are going wrong exactly.

You might want to check that you aren't just blindly running into a battle and having yourself swarmed by 30 enemies. In battles involving multiple enemies, one good strategy is to "hold position" and use your tank or main character to creep into the enemy camp just long enough to get the attention of a couple enemies. Those enemies will then come to you, unlock your party, and let them have at it. This way, you whittle down the enemy forces to a manageable number.
This game absolutely requires that you make use of the pause and play function. Pause, give orders to your pt mates, move their positions, and *think* about how you want to approach the battle. Enemies have a mage? Target that enemy first. They have a lot of grunts and an alpha? Take out the grunts before dealing with their leader. Stock up on healing potions and absolutely make sure at l;east one of your characters has herbalism.
Take it slow - this game is not meant to be won quickly. Take your time with the battles.

Give me a break. Combat in this game requires more than just randomly clicking on the screen. You realize this, right?

Some good advice here. I am from the FPS world, thinking I could never get into RPG type games (too much management - just gimme something to shoot!!). Since KOTOR I have become a Bioware fan (incl Jade Empire and Mass Effect).
DAO is different of course, and it is simply not a run n gun kinda game. Strategies using "hold position", pausing to select enemies and assign commands, uses of spells and talents, choosing which targets to attack first, assigning targets and commands for your characters, mage healing or using potions, all count.
Also, setting each character's tactics is important. I find for myself, regarding attacks, is to set "enemy > target of attacking party > controlled character > (ie. ability or attack) works well for me. So, I get the attention of an enemy or two with my warrior (or two), while the remainder of the party performs ranged attacks works well. Also setting tactics to use health and/or lyrium potions is helpful.
It is the type of game where you need to be patient and adopt a different style of play. If this old FPS player can do it, you can too.

To the above - interesting strat. I actually found myself partial to the "Enemy: Lowest Health" method of combat. Basically, I had every single character ganging up on whichever enemy had the lowest health. I'd usually lead with my main character and start by targeting the weakest enemy, like the grunts. If there was a mage, even a leader type mage, they were ALWAYS my first target.
I got alistair buffed enough at some point that he basically ran around soloing everything in sight without difficulty, so I barely paid any attention to what he was doing.

I doubted it because no detail was provided... Tell us specificallly what is happening.
If Revenants are killing you, that makes sense. But grunts should not be a challenge on any level.

I have to say that this game is farely easy. I'm a lvl 17 or 18 rogue now. If you start off with a rogue they are kinda easy to kill at first but as you get further into the game they are a lot harder to die. Sometimes my whole party is dead while I'm still whacking away at almost full health but some of that is because of Wynne heals me before she dies. LOL!!! I also recommend getting the dwarf, forgot his name. He kicks a lot of A. You also have to remember your armor and how much extra fatigue they have on it because the more fatigue it has the more your skills will cost you. I would say only have your tank wear heavy or massive. Mine wears heavy and he does great! Also, I forget the name of the town but at the top right of your map by "Camp" there is a town that starts with a D. If you have dragon scales go there and have him make you some armor. You can also make it better with a few 20 gold. I don't know if this helped at all, I feel like I'm rambling on so I apologize. If you have any more questions please ask.
