The thing is, I do have it installed. The collector's edition, with all DLC before LotSB. It starts installing normally, verifies the installer and what have you, but after it reaches 100%, it brings up an error window that says I have to install Mass Effect 2 first. It's not the Steam version, it's the actual physical copy. I've tried reinstalling, running on administrator, set compatibility mode to XP, downloaded it from both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and I still get the same error. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premiun 64-bit, i5 core, 4 gigs of RAM,  446 gigs on my HDD, and using an nvidia GeForce GTS 360M

Apologies if something like this has been posted before. The search bar didn't bring back any results.

Have the same problem, but only when i try to reinstall it, it tells me that the game does not exist on my computer!!! Have been installed since the game came out and i got it home from the store. First i feared it was because of Windows Vista, but since im not the only one it has to be something else

Looks like LotSB decided to stop being fickle and installed after the fifth reinstall of the whole game. I hope you find out what's wrong on your end, Deadmangafan.

Five reinstalls shouldn't solve the problem if one doesn't, something must've happened between the fourth and fifth reinstall. Any idea what it was?

Have you guys modded your games/changed anything outside of the game?

[edit]

Effin hell it was so simple.
I had renamed masseffect2.exe to UT3.exe to be able to use anti-aliasing. It worked when I switched back.
I feel like an idiot now.

Had the same issue and solved it. Short of having renamed masseffect2.exe to something other than itself, as the commenter above me can relate to, you need only check that the game's files are stored under their originally installed location. On most computers, it's "C:\\Program Files\\Mass Effect 2" I believe. I myself, for ease-of-use and practicality, had moved all my games whose files had become dynamic to "C:\\Games\\Primary" and simply moving them back to where your computer expects them to be fixes things easily enough.

Also, if any care to take note of the fact, my wife makes a splendid peach cobbler. When a dollop of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream is added to the dish, it is my personal piece of heaven.

Does ME2 have to be installed on C drive for this DLC installer to work? That's pretty limited. There is no way I'm installing all my games on C drive. That partition would need to be massive! Has anybody got this working on another partition?
