I'm interested in what everyone considers their least favorite of the main/recruitment quests - Redcliffe, Urn of Sacred Ashes, Paragon of her Kind, Broken Circle, or Nature of the Beast.

For me, it's Paragon of her Kind simply because it way too long of a quest for such a visually boring environment, imo.

Yes, same. I know a lot of people hate the Fade but at least you can get it done in around an hour. (The forms are quite fun to use, too).

The Deep Roads, though...ugh. I quite enjo the rest of Orzammar though. It's just the dungeon crawl part.

Trapped in the fade was my least favorite by far. I didn't really like the deep roads either, they all looked the same.

Deep Roads. I have the Skip the Fade mod, which makes the Fade rather pleasant.

Deep roads. As you said the fade you can get done within in hour if you really try.

Nature of the Beast, because it's not really connected to the rest of the story. And it's needlessly annoying to get back to camp

Probably the fade. It was entertaining for a while but it gets old really fast. On my first playthrough it was one of the first things i really did and as a mage it was very difficult to get through it at a low level fighting alone. Also fighting the Sloth Demon at that level was most unpleasent. I liked Paragon Of Her Kind but the whole thing really drags on with relentless battle after battle. So with that one i like the quest just not the fact it never lets up with the hard battles.

Wulfram - yes, it's rather annoying when you get overloaded with gear in there.

Having said that, the first time I played on Normal (this was pre-patch when Normal was actually pretty hard) I fought my way through the Dead Trenches and ran out of injury kits and poltices before the brood mother. My guys were all beaten up and hurt. I had to walk ALL the way back (and Dead Trenches has to be one of the longest levels in the game, if not the longest), out of Orzammar and back to the Brecilian Forest to buy elfroots. Ugh.

Redcliffe, because of the allied npcs whom have a tendency to do stupid things like running into the fire and charging blindly into the groups of walking corpses. Feel more like a babysitter than the hero in the battle.

Ugh I do hate the night battle. It got a lot easier when I stopped telling Ser Perth about the oil in the stores, though.

i agree with most, the deep roads, just feels like it goes on and on and on and on and on and *goes on for hours* on, but i do like the dead trenches at least. Has one of the most difficult fights in nightmare imo against 2 genlock emissaries and 3 corrupted spiders (those suckers are annoying spamming webs and overwhelm) unless u have mage specific counter spells, mainly mana clash in which case u just one hit kill the genlocks and just have to fight 3 spiders :P

being trapped in the fade. Seems a little dull hunting all those extra points..

lol, true. But atleast you get to fight the Broodmother and talk with the badass legion of the dead.. and get their armor.

I think I'd have to go with Paragon of Her Kind as my least favorite...although I do enjoy Hespith and the Broodmother reveal.

The first time I went through the Fade during Broken Circle, I hated it. But now that I have a system for the order in which to do it and know where everything is hidden, I actually enjoy it. It doesn't hurt that I'm motivated by all of the extra attribute points.

On first playthrough, it was definitely Urn of Sacred Ashes...other than the dialogue with the Guardian at the end, I found it pretty boring. The fact that it seemed like a kind of stupid thing to do was a big part of that. Why should I chase something that may not even exist to revive one guy. Teagan ought to be able to act as Eamon's proxy under the circumstances.

On multiple playthroughs, the Deep Roads is the worst. It's very long and full of most of the more challenging combats in the game, which made it interesting on first playthrough, but a slog on subsequent ones.  Plus, Rukh and Hespith's stories lose their emotional punch on susequent playthroughs.

A Paragon of Her Kind. Too long, and the Deep Roads are just... Ugh.

And The Fade, of course. I loved Awakening's Fade, though.

Definitely Paragon of Her Kind. Not only do the Deep Roads feel way too long, but in general I don't like the idea of having to prove myself to Bhelen/Harrowmont...since they each need ME at least as much as I need them. I guess overall I just don't like Dwarves and that probably has something to do with it too. :)

Nature of the beast. I totally hated it, had major difficulties from an RP perspective. Just bored me until I meet the Lady. Only good part of the quest.

Same here, but I was just bored by it. Werewolves, lots of trees, blah.

I actually love the Deep Roads, and probably because I'm still terrified of them. Once you get in, there's no good RP reason for getting out, plus a lot of interesting stuff happens down there. Ortan Thaig, Ruck, the Deep Trenches, Bownammar, Kardol, the Legion, the effing Broodmother, and a metric ton of Dwarven history. I love everything that happens, up until I meet Branka, Oghren is forced into my party, and then I'm bored again.

Yeah. The Dalish questline just seems like it was thrown in. To be honest, for me, if they left them out completely, I wouldn't miss the quest at all. It really had little ties to other quests, nor did it really fit with the storyline much. But then again, I'm not a lover of elves.

I agree on the deep roads, though I don't mind Oghren at all being in my party, and least in Origins. But Orzammar, the deep roads...especially the Deep Trenches and meeting Kardol and the Leigon...plus seeing the archdemon and the blight horde...****ING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Totally loved it, and the mental RP/immersion of that questline was pretty universal for all my Wardens, regardless of origin.

I'm also one of those very few who liked the Fade, as well. Sure, you don't get to pick up cool junk, but again, from an RP perspective, all my characters could get immersed in different ways.

By the way, my favorite mage (and my canon character) is named Monica, too. :wizard:

Not sure how I missed mentioning the scene with the Archdemon, because that is still one of the most powerful of the game. For my current Warden (and soon-to-be canon Warden) the Deep Roads served as her own hardening process. It's easy to ignore the effects of the taint when you're running around trying to gather armies and being BFFs with the Guerrins, but seeing the reality of it in Ruck was tough. Then it just went downhill after that, and Hespith (along with her creepy chant) and the Broodmother stuck in her mind as "there are no happy endings."

I like the Fade, too! Ever since I found out about the ship I wanted to make sure I leave nothing unturned there. Changing forms and finding all that stuff is cool, plus I like taking different companions so I can see their dreams. (Makes me even more excited for phaonica's mod after seeing Loghain's Fade Dream.)

And yay for awesome character names! :D

The Fade, the Deep Roads, and Nature mainly due to the sidequests.

Nature of the Beast did nothing for me.
