[Witch Hunt] Please, Bioware, what must we do to get an unbugged ending?

I have played through Witch Hunt twice: once with a DA:O / Awakening / Golems character, and once just with a DA:O character.  On both occasions, Morrigan did not recognise the choices my Warden had made.  (The second playthough was just to check if the problem was specific to Awakening / Golems.)

While I've gotten all four endings of DA:O, I decided my first (read: unspoiled) playthrough would be a Warden who had accepted the Dark Ritual.  Her lover had reluctantly fathered a child with Morrigan, and she wanted to know what had become of his child.  She found out nothing - she received little but Morrigan's scorn.  I got the same bugged reaction during both playthroughs (yes, I checked that both imports were Dark Ritual saves).  Morrigan implies that she would have answered my Warden's questions if my Warden had taken her offer...  It's quite frustrating to get this response when, on this occasion, that is precisely what my Warden did.

Presumably there are conversation lines that respond to my Warden's actual choices.  Also, one must presume that the DLC was tested with all endings, and that testers were able to access the appropriate dialogue lines for their endings.  Accordingly I would really appreciate it if Bioware would explain how they managed to get unbugged endings and post a solution for us so we can get to these lines and find the answers that we were promised when we paid for this DLC.  Thank you.

[Hopefully I have kept game details relatively vague enough for the non-spoiler forum.]

EDIT: Witch Hunt patch beta testers are being sought.

It is said you have to import a post-coronation save from origins , not the post-campaign save. I have imported a post -coronation save to all dlcs and awakening and i didnt get the bug with the dark ritual, Morrigan is pleased with me ,although i havent created any romance with her , as a noble female rogue who married Alistair. But still the ending was disappointing! I need a proper ending for my warden!!!!

Thanks for the info on how you got an unbugged ending. It's appreciated. :-) A bit disheartened that you were still disappointed, though. :-/

Yes.. but don't tell me now that if you played Awakening loading from the post-campaign save you inherited that bug, and therefore there is no way to have the correct ending when you import in Witch Hunt that character from Awakening because it would be the worst shame ever !!!!!!!

Please don't tell me that the bug is not in Witch Hunt, but that is the Post-Campaign save that is broken from the beginning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I  think that is the case, Eitherway, with the bug or not, the dlc sucks. I  waited for it with agony cause it was supposed to be the final chapter of my warden. But no questions are answered , on the contrary more are posed.Morrigan tells on the character in the last scene about a gift that is giving him /her but the credits fall before you have the chance to check on it!Unbelievable. Very sloppy ending for a story so huge as dragon origins.

It's not for the DLC now... If this is confirmed there should be the risk that is not Witch Hunt to be bugged but that it is the Post-Campaign save that is broken from the beginning.. and 99% of players who played Awakening loaded their character from the post-campaign save and not from the post-coronation save because they told us to do so...

I won't even think that it could be that way, and therefore we all have to play all again Awakening, GoA and Witch Hunt loading from post-coronation instead of from post campaign

Oh good grief. I was wondering about this. I guess I'll try again with my post-coronation save then. Sheesh. I played Witch Hunt through 4 times last night and got the same thing every time. *grumbles* Quite disappointing considering this is the last DLC for Origins and it was "supposed" to tie up some loose ends. Instead it just created more questions, left obvious ones unanswered, and basically pitched an advertisement for DA2.

Is someone here able to pick up " Morrigan's gift" or it's impossible? If this is my GW ending ( gift from Morrigan's on the ground and then credits, then I have to say that this last DA:O DLC is a big dissapointment

I have an urgent request for anyone who can use the toolset

Please could anyone check in Origins whether Post-Campaign Epilogue does contain the Dark Ritual flag and/or if there is anything different from the Post-Coronation save?

i didnt get the bug but because of someone else i found out what causes the bug. in DA:O when you import to awakening or witch hunt make sure that your import from DA:O was the epilogue auto save, because you go back to the camp any save after that counts as if it happend before the final battle. and of course that would mean you didn't do the ritual with morgan.

I just said what i read in other threads. It seemed sensible cause i didnt get the bug since i imported the post-coronation save. I was unable to check "Morrigan's gift". I think the ending was totally bugged because of that. The credits rolled immediately after video and i was unable to save my final decision or to check the "reward".I hope someone from Bioware can enlighten us.

Hopefully if thats the case either they are able to create a work-around fix or are able to make a savegame fixer application.
Shouldn't be too hard for them (Bioware) to make a module, where you just click a vase or other object which will set the right flag, or they could add a dialogue to the start of Witch Hunt to set the flag or not (depending on decisions of the player).

And this thing just let me go berserk, because I remember I opened a thread before the release of Awakening JUST to have an official confirmation whether any save in the camp from the post epilogue (ie after playing Return To Ostagar which was released after Origins) counted as a save AFTER the battle, and a dev from Bioware ensured me that it was so !!!

Considering all the levels (as in approval levels and game levels) with your companions etc, I would say those saves also count as after the battle. I think the timeline itself might be considered as during, since after the battle everyone scatters (and Morrigan leaves), but this savegame is especially intended for playing DLC's. :) Also all the other decisions carry over to Awakening perfectly and the Dark Ritual decision is not something that you decide after the Archdemon is already slain.
I think what the OP meant is that the dialoguebox you get when you finish the game states that the save is intended to make you play things that story wise happened before the Archdemon is, but that's just a story timeline thing and has nothing to do with the actual data afaik.

I found that topic where was confirmed that every save after post-campaign counts as a post-battle/final game save...

http://social.biowar...7/index/1610467

Therefore this is not a valid motivation for that bug.. I am not saying that what Apepumpkin is saying is not true.. but just that in case it should be true they couldn't use it as an excuse and they have to fix it....

Cool! :) Good find! ;)
I think there's just something that goes wrong somewhere, possibly something accidentally overwrites that flag... It can be too hard though for Bioware to write a small program that allows you to pick a savegame and then fixes that flag or just asks you at the start of Witch Hunt if you wish you to fix the flag... :)

You're certainly not the only one... There's a huge group of people who have this problem! :) United we stand eh? ;)

I got that Dark ritual bug too, how can it be avoided???

I loved the DLC, but I'm guessing this is the last DA content I buy, because I don't wanna play as that Hawke guy in DA2.

I want more Morrigan and warden time!

I'm sure you guys already have an idea of the bug, but I have played through several imports of the same character and I know what causes it.

It's from Origins, after the epilogue... when you guys let us pretend we are doing things before the final battle...

The bug is Morrigan doesn't recognize the Dark Ritual.

1. Loaded my character from awakening, in which I loaded from a post-epilogue save... bugged.

2. Loaded same character from epilogue save itself, the post-campaign one... no bug.

3. Then to prove it wasn't awakening, I imported the epilogue save to awakening, then to golems, then to Witch Hunt, and no bug. She reacted correctly.

The reason why so many people are getting this bug is because most people play after the epilogue, even if it's just to switch equipment. So that's what I think.

I can't even see the ending.  After Morrigan does her thing with the mirror, the game dumps directly to the credits rolling.

So much suuuuuuck.

Well, I have to, don't I?! I gave my best exportable armor to Alistair, if I load my epilogue save I start Awakening stark nekkid. >_>

That's not possible.  After Morrigan does her mirror thing, the warden looks at the book and the roll, and then walks off the screen to the left.  Then boom, credits.

If that is how the DLC is supposed to end, then BioWare ended one of my favorites games with a long, wet fart instead of the bang I was anticipating.

It is possible, and as far as we know, it's what the ending is suppose to be. sorry.
