Even after reading some of the posts, I am still confused about which save file to load to avoid the dlc bug. So someone please tell me, what save file I need to use for the "Witch Hunt" save game import function, to avoid this bug? Thanks in advance.

The post-epilogue save of Dragon Age Origins game.. The one which is generated automatically by the game after you defeat the Archdemon. It's the only one which works.

Anyway, if you load it you must remounce to all your Awakening and GoA flags so at the moment you have 2 choices..

- Play Witch Hunt directly from that Origins save and lose all our decisions from Awakening/GoA
- Playing from GoA or Awakening but lose the Dark Ritual flag

Make your choice...

Ok I don't get that, I just played from the Awakening save and she recognized the ritual, at least I thought she did since she mentioned the child is safe somewhere then I ended up going in the mirror with her.

This means that when you played Awakening you imported a not-bugged Origins save.. Do you remember which save you imported?

To play Awakining, I imported my Origins save (The one from the Post-Campaign), I had a male noble Warrior Warden, I also romanced Morrigan and did the ritual, and to play Witch Hunt, I just imported my Awakining Post-Campaign save, that's it, nothing more nothing less, she recognized my choices and she mentioned the child's existance, so I'm assuming no bug on my end.

Did you ever open that saves before import to Awakening?

Switched equipment and so on?

No I never touched anything, I remember when I first used my Origins save to play Awakining my Warden was naked because my Dragon Armor did not transfer for some reason, so I never bothered with that since I had other armors with me and I gained a better armor in the expansion anyways, so I did the same with Witch Hunt, just used my Awakining save, thanfully my armor from the Awakining actually transfered.

Anyways, I'm not sure why people are having this bug, but for whatever it's worth, I did install patch version 1.04 before playing Witch Hunt, apperantly I was not able to play it with the version I had (1.03) so I had to update, I don't know if that has anything to do with it though, and I did that about 8 hours ago so maybe BioWare patched things up? I don't know what to tell you.

And this is the reason why you didn't encounter the bug...

But very few players did the same thing... because almost of us before playing Awakening loaded the post-epilogue save in the camp and set their equipment before to export to Awakening.

From that moment the bug is triggered and whether you import the save from Origins or a following save from Awakening or Goa you'll have your saves screwed... and the DR gone

Adding my 2 coppers worth here:

I loved the DLCs that have been put out, and honestly, I enjoyed Witch Hunt (even though I felt it was brief) right up until the dreaded Morrigan bug. I'm sorry, Bioware, but this is a GLARING lack of Quality Assurance especially considering the way this DLC was hawked to the public. I simply find it difficult to see how nobody in the bug review department happened not to stumble across this possibility given how many it's affected.

For myself, originally, my Warden -did- refuse Morrigan, finished the game, and when Awakenings came out I went on to complete the storyline. A couple of things nagged at me though, since my Female Cousland was greeted by Queen Anora at the start, my epilogue still mentioned King Alistair welcoming his bride back to Denerim. Which seemed odd, since he was rotting dragon bait last time I'd left him in the capital, so.... I went back to a previous save (I had save games for all possible endings right before the Archdemon battle), chose to do the Dark Ritual and keep the King alive, and finished the game. I took the post save and completed Return to Ostagar, and then jumped back into Awakenings and replayed the whole thing from a fresh import. The intro and ending reflected my choices properly, so on I went with that import into Golems of Amgarrak.

So, at least for me, since I actually went back to ensure that I wouldn't face such a bug before the DLC released, it's just an extra annoyance to see that it was not properly tested before release. I appreciate that they're working on a patch for this, but frankly, I really expected better from Bioware before they release a product.

Well, I received and tested the beta patch. Happy days: it works perfectly! Now Morrigan recognises that the Ritual was performed. While there are certain further options I would have liked to have been added to the final conversation with her, the standard correct ending is a huge improvement on what I was experiencing before. Thanks to Bioware for the quick work on the fix!

Everyone seems thrilled about this patch coming out. I watched all the endings on youtube so there was no need to ever play that garbage again.

You need the auto-save right after illing the Archdemon or a save during coronation to import. It will work, I imported into Awakening, then golems, then Witch Hunt. All of my choices played out how they should have. I did the ritual, had my character still in lover with Morrigan, etc. and it was acknowledged and my Warden stepped through the Eluvian with her
