It's nice to get an ingame look at the Qunari, isn't it?
Anyways, I apologize if this has already be circulated, but it's certainly new to me.
The image is from here

I really am digging the armor design on the qunari, and it seems that only the Qunari high commanders have such pronounced horns. I wonder if they are bred for that? A kind of noble blood line of qunari?

Those masks make them look a bit silly. They remind me of kobolds.

Anyone else notice that Qunari looks like the one from the video? Atleast horn and armor wise?

Anyway, i am curious as to whats up with the chained Qunari behind him...Mages perhaps? After all the Qunari were forced to retreat from their last invasion because the Thedas mages were too powerful for them. They had no way to counter their magic.

Which can only be to this game's benefit for reasons I should not need to explain.

Anyone else think that those masks have handles on the end? They remind me of the rings you sometimes see in bulls' noses. Perfect for dragging around recalcitrant mages... :) Fantastic screenshot.

The masks remind me of the Pig Mask that was used in Saw...

Don't ask me how, they just do Posted Image

If I remember correctly, Sten tells Gregoire that the Qunari cut out a mage's toungue. not hand.

The masks look ridiculous, they're completely ruining the overall good design of the Qunari. :pinched:

I think they look more unique, aslong as they give us a good reason as to why some Qunari have horns and others don't, ill be happy, but they still look Qunari ish, in the face atleast, just with....horns.

The thing is, we really know next to nothing about the Qunari culture, aside from what little bits we've garnered from DAO, the codex and Dev comments. The Qunari are the more tribal of all the DA species and I think these sort of masks really suit them

True we know nothing about the Qunari culture, except they are semi advanced in technology, after all they have cannons. I saw this on the Dragon Age Wiki section on their main website. And as far as i can tell the chained up Qunari are their mages, they need something to combat the mages in the Free Marshes so they just drag their magical slaves with them.

I admit, that when I first saw the masks I burst out laughing. Almost reminds me of a duck, with the long bill. but yeah, I think those might be mages. It look to anyone else like they might have had part of their horns taken off?

It could be because they're young (maybe) and their horns haven't grown much.  Or mages get part of their hors hacked off to how that they are casters.

I don't think they are bred for that.. maybe it is the same as with gorillas, that the dominant male (in this case the strongest/best trained Qunari) has features that make him recognizable. So the silverback with gorillas and the pronounced horns with the Qunari.. (I know gorilla males become a silverback at the age of ~11, so maybe the horns start the grow after a certain amount of training because of.. higher testosteron levels or something; just a theory). :P

Though it may just be coincidence, since the only screenshots I have seen so far are of fighting Qunari. The concept art of the Qunari shows horns on the male so maybe they all have it. but I haven't seen a non-warrior Qunari on any of the screens.. though I'm not sure if male Qunari can be anything else than a warrior.. need to pay more attention to Sten when he gives the 'place in the world' speech.

Like the chains and mask isn't enough. But i see your point. Lop off part of the horns so they fit into a sort of Caste system, makes sence, afterall the Qunari HATE mages from what i understand. Have no idea why though, perhaps we shall find...out...Hmm....Perhaps, this is just an idea mind you, Hawke creates an uproar? A mage uprising in the Qunari ranks which in turn caused mages in Thedas under the rule of the chantry to join up? Thus leading to the possible fall of the Chantry and its weakening power.

Just speculation though.

As far as I understood it, it was the tongue and that only when their handlers think they are molevolent or possessed. Could be wrong though.

Well, the masks do look ridiculous, but they are not ruining the overall design of the Qunari. I think in that context, those Qunari are supposed to look ridiculous because they are probably slaves.

They deffinately seem like mages to me, from the shackles. I love the fact that they are bent over, as if they spend a lot of time caged or put to hard labour. Contrasts greatly with the posture of the high ranking Qunari.

Anyone notice that the leader is holding somthing similar to the "crown" that the Viscount of Kirkwall has in the trailer?
