I really like the character models so far, they're an enormous improvement over DAO.
Why are the qunari hunched?

I've dug the new Qunari look sense I first laid eyes on it, and I still do! Much more intresting then just making them tall humans.

The three Qunari mages have their hands bound behind their backs-- that's why they're hunched over like that. The main Qunari in the foreground isn't hunched over, however. He's standing straight. Not sure what you're looking at.

Oh, hi! I just want to say thanks for the interviews last week. I enjoyed them a lot!

Ok, good. The armor of regular soldiers looking like that would be silly.

so i can assume the masks on qunari mages have the same function as the cutting off their tongues? to not let demons influence others?
I imagine that you can put a chain to the thing that hangs out below the mask, thus using it as a leash.

Yes, you're right-- that's their "unleashed" animation when their handler has set them to attack. So they've hand their binds released and are just standing straight, I assume... if they ever really stand straight at all. Qunari mages are more like attack dogs than proud warriors.

And I thought the Chantry and its phylacteries were bad. I wonder how Qunari mages view life - do any accept their place in the Qun?

A quick question, do they use female Qunari mages like that too? I was thinking of the "women do not fight" thing. If they are used, are they not seen as fighting because they are used as attack dogs or not as women due to being mages?

But the new art direction looks really good, even though no qunari deems it necessary to wear such silly things as armour apparently. Oh well, all the easier for us to kill them.

do the masks also serve to prevent them to influence anyone while being possessed by a demon?

I had assumed these were mages, hence the masks and chains, but the smaller stature makes me think they might be human captives and not qunari. Edit: Ok, just saw DG's posts and I assume they simply look shorter because they're hunched.
This shot is a good motivator to want to drop kick the Qunari back to Par Vollen.

I'd imagine that's another reason why the Qunari lease their mages in such a manner? To further devalue them as people? Especially since a crouched or folded position can be seen as a submissive posture - never mind the fact that they're already bound like one would a rabid animal. Or am I reading too much into their posturing?David Gaider wrote...

I have to say that I love how the artist's translated the writer's vision of the Qunari mages into a visual form. They truly do look like little better than glorified possessions, or attack dogs as Gaider put it. By hiding their faces and forcing them to wear matching uniforms they take away what little sense of identity these mages might have once had - furthering the notion that they are little better than dangerous 'things' or weaponry in the eyes of their fellow Qunari. It's obvious that a good deal of thought was put into the creation for both the subjects featured in that screenshot.

Maybe they're in aggressive stance, waiting to attack.
