I thought Finn was adorable. Honestly, I found the companions to be the best part of Witch Hunt (with Morrigan's brief appearance at the end being very disappointing to me, by contrast, because of the bugginess and the total lack of reference to Alistair).

Finn had a lot of very funny lines. Immature as this may be, I found his comments whenever Dog marked some territory particularly amusing. He was also a refreshing change from the standard tortured and persecuted circle mage cliché - his parents are still alive, and his family relations are very good. I found the best companion banter to be the couple of exchanges about his full name. :-)

Ariane also commented on Dog peeing.
(Did anyone find it disturbing that Dog pees on a corpse?)

I found it even more disturbing that dog was probably peeing on the D.Elf origin. Well that is if you weren't play as it. Which is pretty funny if you look at it the right way.

Fin whining was so funny banter with Ariane was awesome except for one:
Ariane:So why did you come with us if you hate the outdoors?   Fin:I want to learn more about the elves ancient lore..and the mirrors..besides the compagny is good.    Ariane:Thanks   Fin:...I meant the dog.

Really wanted to slap him behind the head for saying that Ariane is cool wish she could be a LI somehow^_^

Ariane:Warden your dog is lecturing me again..    :P

Yes, I did find that disturbing, especially playing as a Dalish elf.  Could have been Tamlen's body or her own.

Same here. I really liked him, though I figured that he would cause my Warden lot's and lot's of eyerolling with his comments.

I also adored Ariane, she was a great character and totally Dalish <3 But without being the psycho **** Valenna was. Honestly why couldn't Ariana be the one in Awakening? I imagine my Fem!Dalish Warden would have a great time with her together, while her love for Valenna was...limited

Agreed completely.  I really found Ariane to be interesting without being unreasonable, abrasive, and aggressive in the manner of Velanna.  She and Finn were great foils for each other.

One thing that it might me really aware of is how the pc can't react to banters because of being silent. Hoping DA2 fixes that.

My favorite part of Witch Hunt is when Finn ran out of mana in the deep roads.

*panicked voice*: "What do I do now? WHAT DO I DO NOW??!?!?!?!"

I suppose you have to hear it to appreciate it.

Am i the only one who found Finn really annoying? He NEVER shut up through the whole thing. He was sort of funny for five minutes and after that i just wanted to hurt people whenever he spoke. The Elf chick Arianne? Something like that. She was kinda cool and shes an unstoppable killing machine. Most of the time my Mage just had to sit back in a supporting role with some spells while she ripped everyone to shreds and Finn used some heals when needed which wasn't really much at all.

I liked him. He was a little neurotic, but that's fine. It was an interesting character diferention, and a good job of showing a character who wasn't experienced in battle coping and rising to the occasion. If only we'd had opportunities to really talk to him. On the other hand, I didn't like Ariane much at all. Half the time she acted like a spoiled 13 year old. I really wished I had the option to say something to her in the tower as you do with Morrigan.

My God, yes! It was also immersion breaking, as my PC would never have really allowed that, no matter who the corpse was. Well, maybe a darkspawn.... But no, it's a bad thing to let your dog think is okay. She doesn't go for corpse desecration.

Personally I think it might have been Bioware making a statement of the Dalish Elf Origin's quality. It was probably the worst Origin of the lot, and I've yet to figure out how to trigger the conversation with Merrill that hints at you being in a relationship with her.

Finn was a bit annoying, but meh - didn't bother me much.

But who told him we were looking for Morrigan?

I liked Finn better than Ariane. Although, I found his eagerness to help and have us talk to the statue a little odd.

Finn was a very real character. When he gets told that he is destined to die soon he spends the entire game jumping at shadows, getting scared, and even fainting ("Oh look... my robes have a tear") but still pulls through to move ahead. I like that, the urge to keep going for the goal despite the fact your death is guaranteed.

Ariane was not a really interesting character. Sure, she was one of the few Dalish I thought as sexy, she was funny, and I would romance her if she was an LI WAY before I would romance Valenna, but her personality was nonexistant.

Oh, I loved Finn. His battle lines were hilarious. 'I think I hit something!!!' haha, the delivery is amazing. Ariane was very pretty, which was a nice change (I thought almost all elf females in DAO were ugly except for Shianni). But yeah, she didn't have as much personality to her as Finn. Hope we see Finn again.

This is one of the reasons I thought he was up to something, because there wasn't any time I told him who I was looking for.

I would have liked the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Finn and Arianne.

I concur on Finn's funny comments, he rivals Alistair in some moments for comedy.
One of my personal favourites is on selection in battle: "Ready to make heads explode"

Finn cracked me up. One of my favorites: "I hope I know what I'm doing!"

I thought Finn was adorable. But then again, I tend to like smart, wimpy characters in general. Image IPB

One thing that weirded me out about Finn, though, was all the references to Jayne from Firefly. The two characters are complete opposites. Not that I'm complaining about Firefly references; I'd never complain about that. Image IPB

I always assumed took the Jayne refs as suggesting that Finn is the sort of guy who'd be a diehard browncoat (with Jayne as his favorite character from the series) rather than him having anything really in common with Jayne.

I like him a lot. Being one of those weird fanfic people :) I've written an adventure tale as a post-Witch Hunt romp. Finn was easily the heart and conscience of the party (and the comic relief).

Ariane... I feel like there's plenty to know about her as a character (tough, a little defensive, sense of humor, compassionate to a Dalish Warden) but trying to figure out her *voice* has been tough. I can't write anything and say, "Ah, that's a perfect Ariane line" because I don't know what that is.

I suppose it's magic, since he knows even if The Warden never mentions Morrigan.
