Finn just brought up a lot of plot holes in Anders's raging about the circle. One of his big arguments is that circle mages are kept from their family, yet Finn seems to meet with his family frequently.

Well, Finn's family is some sort of nobility. Ticking off the people with money and power would not be a smart move, so Finn's parents get to visit him-special treatment that the mages with dirt-poor commoner parents wouldn't get.
That's my theory, anyway .His parents also aren't afraid of magic and don't think their son is cursed for having it (ex. Jowan).

Well, even in Origins we know that nobles at least have the means to see their family...See the endings with Eamon and Connor which mention Eamon visiting the tower...
I always assumed the reason why most mages don't get family visit is that most mages come from peasant stock and the peasant stock don't have the time/money to visit...
It's one thing if say your family is from Redcliffe (other side of Lake Calenhad) but say a family from Lothering or Haven? Aren't those several weeks of travel?
