So I noticed that you get random weapon upgrades from the delivery pickup terminal in the Shadow Broker's base. Does that mean you can get unlimited shotgun or assault  rifle upgrades or is it capped so that you can only get a certain number?

No, you can get only one for SG, SMG, AR and SR (so 4 in total).

What, no Heavy Pistol upgrade?

Heavy Pistol upgrade is found before you even get the Intel Center. (Damage Protection upgrade too)

Hmm. And we're supposed to play this AFTER the Suicide Mission? Really?

Because damn, I'm thinking it should be played ASAP for all the upgrades.

So to lay it out now, with all DLC, the maximum possible upgrades should look like:

* Biotics 6

* Damage Protection 6

* Heavy Pistol 6

* Heavy Skin Weave 6

* Medi-Gel 5

* Shotgun 6

* Sniper Rifle 6

* SMG 6

* Tech 6

plus either

* Assault Rifle 7

* Heavy Weapon Ammo 5

or

* Assault Rifle 6

* Heavy Weapon Ammo 6

depending on which path you take on Zaeed's loyalty mission. Is this correct?

I know, right?

It kinda sucks that they didn't just add the squad respec utility to the Normandy's upgrade as soon as you start the game...  There's little point in redistributing points once you've suffered builds for most of the game...

Yeah, on future playthroughs I think I'll do Liara's quests and LotSB immediately once Illium is available...right after recruiting Mordin using the Early Recruitment trick. Better off getting access to the SB Base as soon as possible.

Link to the trick? Cuz, yeah, LotSB should be completed long before Horizon. Too much there that is useful throughout the entire game.

The trick would involve downloading Gibbed save game editor, found here http://masseffectsaves.com/mods.php

1. Then play until you finish Freedom's Progress
2. Save your game when you get back to the Normandy.
3.  Load up your save game in the editor and go to the plot, henchmen, flags tab.
4. Check Miranda in alternate appearance box and save the game.
5. Restart you game and load the edited save.

This should open up Illium and Haestrom.

If you wanted Legion early you'd also need to check the Legion aquired box and the Legion is selectable box.

also, the ability to find planets with Eezo is a godsend to first-time players, or people like me who respec about 20 times a playthrough.

I'll have to give that a run. Can you unloyal Miri after doing LotSB and return to a normal playthrough?

Alright, deleted my saves back to just after my first Illium mission and did LotSB, so now I'll have 4/6 shotgun, 5/6 sniper, 6/6 SMG and Hard Shields before hitting Collector Ship. Major improvement.

I am pretty sure you can have Shotguns 4/6 (Omega-bought, Jack RM-found, Tuchanka-bought, Grunt LM-reward) and Hard Shields (one bought, Jack RM-found, Canalus-reward) before CS even without LoTSB. Not sure about SR and SMG but it will not be much different iirc.

You can have Hard Shields, but only if you do an N7 mission, which I generally don't do until the unrestricted time between the CS and IFF missions. With LotSB you can also have 5/6 Shotgun if you do Grunt's Loyalty before CS, but I felt 6/6 SMG might benefit me more (because I doubted 1 more shotgun upgrade would change the number of shots per enemy). 5/6 Sniper/Shotgun before CS is impossible without LotSB (because the final upgrade is on Reaper IFF).
