Alright, well, this problem is MUCH more annoying and repetitive in Mass Effect 2 than the first, but when I play the games for a little while, the games starts slowing down, and the audio starts crackling, as if the speakers were blown out, and echoing, and even skipping some dialogue lines.

In Mass Effect 1, I can't spend more than three minutes trying to make a character. When I do it starts up with the problem and I can't even do anything.

In Mass Effect 2, I can't even play for more than ten minutes without it getting so horrible. And I wouldn't mind sometimes, but during fights, the motion goes extremely slow, and it won't show me the health or the little reticles around the enemy, making it pretty hard to fight them. And the only way to fix it, for a tiny bit, is to turn off the game, and reload. Which is really tiring and obnoxious after awhile.

This is just a recent development. I haven't done anything big to my computer, no viruses, and I have tried a few tricks from others with the stuttering problems, but it hasn't helped. It used to work perfectly smooth, on both games, with settings turned up as high as possible for the graphics and sound. I haven't changed a thing, and now all of a sudden the games refuse to let me enjoy them.

I would greatly appreciate any kind of help.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have been playing both games on a Dell Laptop with Windows 7.

What's your video card? I know when I played Mass Effect 1 on my old computer that after a certain period of time the game would go to black after a few minutes. I believe it was because, at the time, my Nvidia 6800 GT just wasn't handling the game very well.

I'm by no means an expert. Just your Mass Effect 1 issue sounds similar to my old Mass Effect 1 issue.

I believe it's called the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570. From what I read about it, it is the second best video card out there. I got it implanted into my laptop. And the problem only occurs with Mass Effect one and two. Never my Prince of Persia games or Jade Empire.

I also just learned that when the games screw up, my entire computer screws up. Mass Effect One started getting wonky again so I minimized it, and now my entire computer is going extremely slow, compared to when I minimize it when the game is working fine. So, any clue on what this problem could be or how to fix it?

Gaming on a laptop is usually not a great idea. Many games are just not compatible with the GPU on a laptop. I'd have a check online to make fully sure your specs are compatible with the games. It sounds related to certain on screen graphics that the GPU and RAM is not handling.
