Everyone:
Recently, I've had severe problems with my first PS3, an 80gb fat model I purchased in several years ago. I was able to get it repaired a month ago, but it started acting up again last night.
The issues with the PS3 are driving me batty, but at least I was able to copy most of the save data from my games onto a flash drive and transfer them to my new 120gb PS3 Slim. The glaring exceptions to this rule was Killzone 2 game save data and, you guessed it, Dragon Age game save data.
Long story short, I've lost a character (the one pictured in my profile) that I had invested more than 160 hours' time into. There's no retrieving it — trust me, I've tried repeatedly. And, after spending $100 to get the fat PS3 fixed once, I don't have that money to spend again, what with the economy being in the gutter.
To put it politely, this bothers me greatly. The character save data totalled 12mb — easily tranferable onto my flash drive and, from there, onto my new PS3. But, because the save data is locked, I was unable to do this. And, no, a second harddrive for backup purposes is out of the question, again because of financial and technical limitations.
I am begging you, EA/Bioware, to please unlock the these save files. PLEASE! I love to play DA, but, damn, it hurts deeply to lose a character into which so much time was invested. Why let the 10 percent of gamers who abuse the system screw it up for the 90 percent of gamers who don't cheat? Why?! It's a case of the tail wagging the dog, and now I'm paying the price for it.
Needlessly, I think.
