You can still be a nug-licker to your party members, and this will sometimes cause them to leave your party forever and ever. However, this is actually different from rivalry. Rivalry means "we disagree on something fundamental." You can still be close, but that disagreement is always there, and you will have arguments about it from time to time. Possibly, you will even change their mind. Or maybe they'll change yours? It's hard to guess. But it's not hatred.  It's just conflict. And conflict, or possibly paprika, is the spice of life, as we all know.

Actually, Wynne says in-game that there is no spell she knows of that can cure the plague. So no help there.

I just have to say this "full rivalry romance" idea is one of the best things I've heard about DA2. It would be interesting if that mechanic had been part of DAO...one can only speculate how the Morrigan romance would have gone.

What if a templar joins your party and falls in love with Bethany, despite having strong feelings about her being an apostate? My god, I think that would be great. I want intraparty romances anyway, and that would be a good one, methinks.

I didn't think it was possible to keep both Alistair and Loghain in your party.  I know you can grab Loghain and Alistair, if hardened, will be king but won't be in your party.

I'd say FTFY, but... well, that's just me.

A lot of it I really hate. Some of them aren't badly written, but they just suck when it comes to characterization. I didn't hate it at first, but now I just can't stand all of the "Ooh, Alistair dumped me waah waah now Cullen is there to pick up the pieces!". As if he isn't completely unhinged, or anything.

Or the "Alistair dumped me but we eventually get back together because he sees that twue wuv! conquers all!" or "I kept Loghain AND Alistair, TEE. HEE."

Ugh.

I used to shy away from fanfiction because they seemed a tad... obsessive? says the person who spends hours photoshopping Alistair's head on random bodies in her photo albums but I have been introduced to some really good ones. These are usually dark fic that don't involve canon characters, but I would agree that a large majority of DA fanfiction is TRUE WUV ALISTAIR + PRINCESS COUSLAND 4EVAAAAA. So I get the hate.

On topic- I really like the idea that you can be SWEARWORDs to your NPCs (great way of wording this Saibh), because sometimes irl you are/have to be. The Warden having to always be diplomatic and nice got tiring sometimes (and I really wanted those stat boosts for the companions) that you wondered why the Warden didn't have the option of flipping out at some point and going batsh** mad.

You either have your whole family slaughtered/your brother betray you/your bff kidnapped by darkspawn etc and then you are forced to save the world with a bunch of whiny/tsundere/chantry-obsessed lunatics who you ALWAYS have to be nice to. 

Actually I liked Sten a lot because you could say things like "I'm not trying to impress you" or disagree with him and you would get more approval, presumably because even if he doesn't agree he respects your backbone. Now thats badass. Qunari FTW!
