What I'd like to see more of is the companions reactions to other companions. If Hawke starts picking a fight with one, shouldn't the others notice that? Like in Origins if you made one of your companions angry enough to leave and nobody in the party seems to acknowledge it..well, that never made much sense. I guess the only thing we get in Origins is recognition that the Warden is in a romance and the other companions sort of talk about it here or there. Also, I'd love to see intra-party relationships forming, that'd be awesome, though possibly complicated.
The reactions to things in party, and possible inter-party relationships are I think great ideas. Hoever it is also very difficult to implement and implement correctly. Simple reactions to things you do in party such as romances or squables aren't all that difficult but do take writing and development resources that Bioware may not feel are as neccessary as other areas. Still would be nice to see NPCs that are as real as possible in a video game setting. I honestly thoght DAO went above and beyond in this area what I had ever seen in a video game before.
As for interparty relationships, well, Bioware writers have talked previously a lot of the challenges this presents. If NPC X enters a relationship with NPC Y, well why wasn't NPC x interested in my PC? Etc etc. If there is a way to do this elegantly yet preserving the PC's sense of focus in the game then I think it could make for great storytelling. Of course there are other ways to do this as well. NPC Y has a crush on non-party NPC X so you can encourage, etc.
