I thought release date for ME3 was mid 2011?

At this time, there is no release date for ME3. Only rumors.

no way it comes out in mid 2011. That's less than a year away and no screenshots, gameplay vids or anything are out yet. Honestly I wouldn't mind waiting until 2013 if they keep adding solid dlc. That would give them time to make it truly epic. There is a reason Valve, Blizzard and Bioware take ages to make games.

It would be possible if they announced it around October. It's not as if they have to start from scratch. They already have an engine, a script and plenty of models. There will be a lot of tweaks ofcourse, but it's doable.

I have no issues with waiting until 2013 if they make the game epic. Any DLCs that come out now though need to make Liara a vital NPC because she is now the new SB and also Shepard's Bond Mate or wife in many cases depending on how you played it. And when I say vital... I mean the ability to interact with her.

And they need to raise the level cap if it is not coming out for a year or more.

Added a new source for the 'cinematic dialogue' promise.

ME3 should have a higher standard.

Whew! Ok...

If it's not til 2012 they better have a long line of DLCs that will be ready to play. And they need to raise the frigging level cap! As it stands now... I can get to level 30 without finishing half the game!

Though I agree that there needs to be a use for the XP bonus earned for completing the game, the level cap has nothing to do with it, and doesn't necessarily need to be raised.

I'm not saying that I outright condemn raising the level cap. I just don't see it as entirely necessary.

If they would just give us a talent system more in line with that of Mass Effect 1, the levels could be spread out a lot more. Quite frankly, the tiered talent system of Mass Effect 2 is lobotomized version of what it should have been.

The fine-tuning of talents and abilities in Mass Effect 1 was a bit more precise than it needed to be, but they went from one extreme to the other.

I don't mind waiting either if they keep coming out with quality DLCs as they have the last two. They still need to raise the level cap though. And with new DLCs they need to incorporate Liara heavily since she is now the new SB and possibly your Bond Mate. And none of this email or simple dialogue. Shep needs to be able to interact with her.

I don't mind waiting, either, regardless of how much DLC they release between now and when Mass Effect 3 is released. Of course, the more time they spend on developing Mass Effect 3, the longer it'll be until it is released, but I prefer to look at it the other way around.

As much as I love the DLC that they've been releasing, I'd prefer to see them devote those resources to Mass Effect 3, rather than squandering them on anything less.

now i know that most people already know that if you "cheat" on the love interest in ME1 it's gonna come back to bite you in ME3, but why not go ahead and put it on the list? granted most people can assume that will happen but just a suggestion.

Yeah, I do remember a dev talking about possible consequences, I'll add it when I find a good source.

First of all BioWare said they wanna do ME3 a bit quicker, so I'd say late 2011. And if it's announced in October expect it to be released around summer 2011. But with ME2 PS3 it might be pushed a bit

Dragon Age 2 would like to have a word with you.

And when ME2 was announced, it was announced less than a year before release, and there were no screenshots or videos till a few months after

If you had a source about BW claiming that they would finish ME3 quicker, I'd appreciate it. The latest backed-up update that I have found claims that ME3 will have the same time frame as ME2. Also, the October announcement thing is just a rumor, like Mass Effect: Genesis. :)

I'd be happier if they released it in 2012... More time to work on the game, that's always good...

awesome, thanks man.. anywho anticipatioin for a game always kills me!! so if Bioware pulled a quick one on us and announced it only a few months before it came it's be awesome!! But odds are Q3 or Q4 2011. Q4 is technically in 2012 though

It was from an article before ME2 was released, so I doubt I'd find it now

I assume there'd be negative ones only if you choose to get back together with your ME1 LI. Fortunately, LOTSB let me brake up with Liara

I like optimism too guys but Summer 2011? Thats only one and a half years of development time. I hope, but I just don't know. Its not like Madden where you can just pump out a game every year.

Well, thanks for the heads up anyway. I think that my info was published a few months after ME2 was released, but it's still worth checking anyway.

Nah Q4=Q4, you might be confusing it with fiscal years: http://en.wikipedia....iki/Fiscal_year . This is when the company expects to get some income from the game.

Yeah there where some juvenile moments like Garrus and the H2H specalist that was...T.M.I. I thought.

But I'm all for the darker sides of life coming up and being played out.

Updated OP with 'cheating' repercussions as well as a source for it. There's a catch though, the source dates before ME2 was released. Things might have changed since then.

Speaking of LI's biting you in the ass in 3 I bet that chick I let live on Virmire is going to bite me in mine as Zeed and Jack so eloquently put it!

Also I'm thinking that one medical purchase you can make in SB will tie in w/ 3 and possibly going to Palvin I'm hoping thats the case!

Well.
Make ME3 too dark and it will be called depressing. Have too great consequences for your actions, and people will feel stressed. A bit of humour is good now and then. I have to admit that I liked the shenanigan-ish humor of Mass Effect 2.

Hopefully this rumor about october is right. It seems highly possible since they said development for the game won't take long, and Mass 2/Dragon Age: Origins were released a few months a part. Could be the same for the announcement time between DA:2 and Mass 3.

Remember the rumor about them announcing the PS3 at gamescom or whatever turned out to be true. I wonder if this is the same tipster. It'd be pretty cool if it was true. Even though it's a rumor, I'm hoping it's the case given the turnout for the PS3 rumor. :P
