They said there's be more wacky humor. So expect Ewoks and Jar Jar Binksrobtheguru wrote...
I love the fact they are going darker. I always thought it was a bit too "bright". I really liked the direction ME2 took.

I'm not against humour. The bit of banter between Garrus and Shepard about his face was hilarious. I just want the humour kept to points where it suits the story i.e. on the Normandy, in non-combat situations. Although would be cool to see some banter similar to Gimili and Legolas from LoTR about who has the most kills.DarthCaine wrote...

As for me3, I'm sure they were working on it long before me2 was even released. Someone previously mentioned this above me, and there is indeed a reason that companies like Bungie, Valve, Betheda, and Bioware are so successful. When you think about it, there has to be an immense amount of pressure on the Bioware staff right now. The expectations for me3 are so ridiculous that even I'm a little worried. But with that being said I fully trust Bioware with every choice they make!

There'd be no cheating with Garrus's visor.

Well given the fact that they likened Mass 2 to ESB. Return of the Jedi had ewoks, so one can only conclude....

I really wouldn't be too worried. What tends to happen with trilogies is that the first one is often great, the second one then changes quite alot to make it seem fresh, usually failing in alot of things. Then when the third comes round it is a combination of the best things from both to make an absolutely amazing gaming experience.Zweebs wrote...
The LotSB actually made me laugh a lot. The banter between Shepard and Liara was very well done!

Personally, I trust Bioware fully. Especially after how I felt they did a great job underlining the Dragon Age Origins story with the end to Witch Hunt. Add in the fact that the ME2 mission DLC has been great and it all looks good for ME3.
As for why those companies do so well? Well that simply comes down to them making you care for characters and having great stories.
All that leads me to having huge confidence in Bioware

If Mass Effect 3 is to top Mass Effect 2 then LotSB is the bar. I wish Bioware luck but i've no doubts that ME3 will be a truly special game. If it's announced in October then i'll do my happy dance!!
Good job on this thread OP. No harm in planning ahead.

i would hope very much they don't rush the final game, too - i want the best they can deliver to finish of this most epic trilogy so an end-2012 release would probably be about right.

Am I the only one who worries about the "darker but funnier" line? If we've seen anything, it's that BioWare tends to have a rather juvenile take on humor at times. How old are the writers anyway? I sometimes shake my head at the stuff that gets included.
Yeah there where some juvenile moments like Garrus and the H2H specalist that was...T.M.I. I thought.
But I'm all for the darker sides of life coming up and being played out.
Well.
Make ME3 too dark and it will be called depressing. Have too great consequences for your actions, and people will feel stressed. A bit of humour is good now and then. I have to admit that I liked the shenanigan-ish humor of Mass Effect 2.
There is nothing wrong with Shenanigan-ish humor, infact, its better than most humor out there. It works on many different levels and connects with everyone, even if just a little chuckle.
Im hoping for 2011, just because I want to see where they take the game.

so what happened to this forum being the non spoiler one?
I don't have spoilers that I can think of in my OP. And other than asking politely, I can't stop people from talking about Mass Effect 2.
Any spoilerific features will be hidden like this: word over here.

So much for this being the NO SPOILERS board right. Some people are such dimwits its unbelievable

Except Halo 3 didn't follow the gaming experiences mention here. Halo 3 was a prime example of an amazingly bad gaming experience.

Yes, given that fact they've clearly never seen ESB otherwise they'd, like, know that the bad guys do nothing but win throughout the entire thing (which is cool if you're like me and enjoy the Empire quite a bit).
Anyways, ME2 isn't ESB, it's just ANH 2.0. There's absolutely no setbacks of any kind for Shep in ME2; he's pure Mary Sue through the entire game.

Well the first person perspective moment at the end of God of War 3 is in my top 10 gaming experiences...ever! It was absolutely awesome. Lets hope Bioware decide to include something similar lol.
