Well, thanks for the heads up anyway. I think that my info was published a few months after ME2 was released, but it's still worth checking anyway.
I remember Muzyka and Casey Hudson saying ME3 won't take as long to develop due to:
-Script is already completed
-Has been in development before ME2 came out
-The engine (gameplay/combat/visuals) are already exactly where they want it, minimal tweaking needed
-The story culminates and concludes in ME3, no need to worry about continuity into a 4th game, so less variables to worry about like ME1to ME2 and ME2 to ME3, significantly reducing development time
-Muzyka said something about putting their titles out in a quicker fashion (DA to DA2 is evidence of this)
I'd say 99% chance of Fall or Winter 2011 release. I'll try to find the links for these.

I only point this out so people don't say "But I saw in a thread that "X" feature was confirmed". NOTHING is confirmed until we ship.

So.. uh when are we going to get an offical announcementChris Priestly wrote...
Keep in mind that nothing "quoted" is 100% guaranteed. We are still developing the game and features change, we adapt, refine and improve. Just because you think it is there now based off an old interview (or even a new one) that doesn't mean it will or will not be in teh game.

Enquiring minds wish to know
Edit:
Uh to clarify I meant screen shots and videos.. yes yes I am a little impatient

Wait a minute. ME3 is schedule to released at 2012? Not that I'm complaining, but I read somewhere it'll be early 2011.
The later the better, why rush it out unfinshed or buggy?

There's no announcement yet.
There's no way it'll be early 2011, especially since Dragon Age 2 is coming out in March.

Speculation is always a fun part of waiting for a game to be released. It's just there is a problem with some people not taking it with a pinch of salt or even understanding that nothing is ever concrete till its in your computer. I mean Final Fantasy XIII confirmed as a PS3 exclusive, only to be announced for 360.Chris Priestly wrote...

Either way, it's great to see the Bioware team interacting on the forums.

That's heartening, actually. It gives me hope that this whole "Shepard is a pre-defined character" nonsense might actually be dismissed like the BS that it is.

So if ME3 is indeed announced in October, that'll be around 5-6 months, sounds likely.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before ME2 released, he also said, "We're already working on 'Mass Effect 3' right now. We do want to develop it in concert with listening to the way people are experiencing 'Mass Effect 2',".
and
"We don't want to take forever with it. We want people to be able to conclude this trilogy that have been with
us over the years... [Development will be] along the same kind of time frame as 'Mass Effect 2'."
If you recall, ME2 was scheduled to be released in late 2009, but there was a small delay so they released in January 2010. It's very likely to expect a late 2011 release.
and
"We didn’t want to take forever with it. So we definitely want to make Mass Effect 3 a fairly short turnaround, but also being that it needs to be a tremendous and epic conclusion to the trilogy."

As someone already posted, no release date has been announced.

Wasn't Casey Hudson quoted (or Misquoted) to say that people can expect a lot more Mass Effect in late 2011? I don't have a link but it makes sense since they completely reworked the combat and skills system and shipped ME2 in 2 1/4 years. Hopefully minimal touch ups to much of the core game and content creation are the only things they need to do, so shipping a game in Under 2 years shouldn't be impossible.
I'll see if I can find a source.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Wild Guesses About ME3, But I Really Like The DA2 Thread And I Want To Copy it?"
No.
Even the 'confirmed features' should be taken with a pinch of a salt as everything can change rapidly during development, but everything, even the rumors have sources. Also, I got the idea from a thread in the Civ Fanatics Forum.

Under which category should I add it ?

I'd put it under "Promises", since it's definitely not a rumor anymore, just a very likely scenario using logic and given what they've said.

Take it up with Jesus. He's the one with those goshdang Armageddon deadlines. There's a long history of Armageddon delays, so you're probably in luck. I think Armageddon keeps getting stuck in the Legal Department, I think the storyline has been written and all the devs have finished their individual projects. Legal is always were these projects get hung up.

Lol, Chris is hedging his bets!
There have actually been a couple of times where something was promised or stated and then changed later on, and SOMEONE from Bioware then stated that it was never said... only to have someone pull out a screen cap from long ago....
Where upon SOMEONE from Bioware, commented that he did not even remember having posted said item from long ago and far away, since so many things had changed.
Chris is doing pre emptive damage control at this point, so people won't suddenly be posting screen caps from long agio, in the next couple of years LOL!
For those who have no idea what I was mentioning ealier:
- The ORIGINAL Dragon Age FAQ had some interesting features in it that were changed, and the FAQ was taken down a couple of months after it was put up. When called on it many moons later SOMEONE(I think it was Chris but not sure which is why I say SOMEONE) commented that no such features were ever planned and questioned where people got the info.
- They mentioned the FAQ and still were not believed because no one at bioware had a copy or kept the original FAQ.
- Then a screen cap of the FAQ was found and there was much hemming and hawing, and claims of amnesia.

- Where upon it was found that no one had remember said features because things had changed so much over a two year period, and it was again reiterated to the fans that this was exactly the reason why developers don't like saying things are set in stone, because they are not. Things change.

Up to you
Not a rumor since Bioware themselves are talking about it. If there was nothing coming out of their mouths, then sure it'd be a rumor...
