What I want is for a couple of archers to shoot at a mage, but the arrows to bounce off a magical barrier.
Anyone know how to do this? Must the arrows be added to the area beforehand?
Using projectiles?

I think you will have to add arrows start with them being invisible, make them visible at the proper time and then manually move them about as you see fit. This can actually work pretty well as quite a while back I did something similar.
However, last time I tried to use arrows I simply couldn't not find them anymore (as in an arrow placeable.) I don't know if I went blind or they disappeared from the toolset.

I doubt they exist as placeables by default, but the model (w_arr_la01a_0) is in the toolset.
That sounds like more of a nuisance than I thought it should be... Fine once they leave the bow, but when they load in the first place? Ach! I'll have a go, though, once I get that arrow as a placeable.

I'm looking to do a lot of projectile modding. Could definitely use some pointers. Looking for "Point of Impact on Arcane Shields, etc, as well as ways to implement new projectile effects. I want to build some animations from scratch, but wonder if there isn't a list, somewhere, of all the projectiles and their effects, etc. Sort of like Baldurs Gates' IEDSP project. Anyone have some good leads? Baldurs Gate way Easy. This is more than these old bones are used to.
