The only thing i dislike about the codex is the numbers instead of titles of the document titles.

The codex is pretty bad. They should have done it like Mass Effect or The Witcher.. with pictures and clear titles.

This. Graphical representations would have been nice, too.
And to the OP... that is why the put the information in the codex. It is not REQUIRED to complete the game. It is provided as additional immersion if you CHOOSE to read it.

I really like the Codex and read the things in it. But I can not understand why they want to use the number system as it makes it a pain to look anything up.

The number system is odd, yes. But the codex does sometimes give hints to how to overcome some enemies.

The idea was good, however its implementation could have been better. MUCH better. I suspect Codex navigation on the PC might be a touch easier, but it's disappointingly clunky on the 360. At the very least, I wish I could sort the entries, bringing the newest unread items to the top. As it is now, they sort of fall in wherever they choose (often, off the page).
Actually, I don't mind all the reading, but if they're going to give me all that text, it might have been nice to have some background music.

I like the pages and pages of things to read. If you read each codex page as you unlock them, it doesn't feel like that much and all the information helps flesh out the world you're in and adds to the game's immersion. I especially like the letters and books that people write because it brings the sense that there are realistic characters in the world.

It's just a little something extra, if it's not your thing then don't read it. I like to use it to learn more about something I find interesting.

I second that. Numbers as entry titles don't say much. I thought The Witcher did it very well.

I love it. My only complaint is, like the others said, the sorting system is very weird.

having to go to the codex to read a letter is an added annoyance. The codex is cumbersome and poorly laid out. It's a good idea done horribly, sadly that can sum up a lot about dragon age.

Generally, I don't like reading books or codex entries in games. However, the Codex in DA:O is well written and the entries have optimal lenght, so I enjoy each entry.

I have to agree the numbering system is bad. Makes it very hard to go back and read about particular things. +1 for something like the Witcher's.

Yeah, The Witcher's was a little better but even so, I think games should follow the TV axiom of "show, don't tell".

I don't like the numbers, but I like the Codex overall. I don't think I'd like the presentation of the codex if I were playing on console, though - it's not too TV friendly. It's nice on the PC.

Titles and even a search function would be great. I don't think you need to read the codex, but as was stated before, sometimes it will give you insight to help complete a quest.
I don't like having to spend my playing time doing a lot of reading. It would be nice if you could access your codex online so you could do it outside of the game.

I wonder if most of the people who don't like the Codex are console players? I personally love the extra information. It is well written and adds atmosphere and breaks the stale "quest helper" attitude that MMO's have created among gamers.

Only thing I don't like is the number system, besides that I enjoy every word of the codex. Fills out the game world and there are some rely funny entry's.

Love the Codex, but I agree that the numbering system is pathetically bad. Perhaps if there was an index on the right for quick jumps to content, replaced by the text of the content once you access it, would have been better.

It's a huge PITA trying to find crap in the codex. Why on earth they couldn't have used titljes/a sorting system is beyond me.

I would prefer some kind of index with titles akin to ME. The numbers are just confusing and difficult to find notes and quest entries when the quest says to refer to the note or codex. (A link directly to the note or codex entry in the quest would also be very nice even with titles instead of numbers. Heck. Something like the little auto-query links found on many sites that reference codex entries for mentions of specific enemies or people would be excellent... especially if it opened in a new dialog window... though the journal/codex remember what you were reading last so that's okay enough for now I suppose.)
