Can anyone tell me if there is some means by which I can buy DLC content for someone else? My father is playing ME2 and wants some of the DLC and I thought I would get it for him for xmas but don't know how to do it or if it is even possible.

Anyone?

What about buying some microsoft points on a card (as in gift card)? It comes in a box just like a game

Microsoft points count as bioware points? Or are exchangeable for bioware points?

That is a hard one. My guess if he is playing on a PC they are not.

With Microsoft points on the xbox you use the points to buy everything from DLC to Movies
On PC you can use those same points for the same purpose, although i'm not sure if thats just "games for windows"
So in short, Xbox yes no probs, PC can't guarantee, best doing some research first :)

One thing they could add with a dlc mission would be fixing bug like the flaging of paragon and renegade choices from the first game with Conrad Verner and maybe add a place where we can buy resources.

Mass Effect 2 is not a games for windows title, that means you cannot use MS points to buy Mass Effect 2 DLC.  If you want to buy the DLC on the PC you have to buy "Bioware points" which you can get from here :-

https://social.biowa...?dest=addpoints

They work just the same way as MS points with the fact you can only buy Bioware PC content with Bioware points.

I would be interested in seeing a resolution to the following problems.

1. Geth/Quarian War.

2. Genophage

3. Shepards Spectre status, maybe a mission or something, DLC with Spectre gear would be nice

I would prefer a mission that is not acquired through a (former) party member. There's got to be more to life than recruiting and helping squad mates. ;) Maybe investigate some new way to defeat the Reapers? Lair of the Shadow Broker hinted at such a thing. Granted, it's more likely that will be one of the story arcs for ME3.

Since its a trilogy, I doubt they can squish how krogans became united, how quarians and geth solve the problem, how the rachni come back

etc etc. In just 1 game, PLUS defeating the reapers.

Those will be the bridging dlc's. Wrex, Quarians/geth, rachni......

Now thing is.... what happens if you killed the queen. I mean, letting the rachni live, is a big force... the rachni once were as powerful as the salarians, and asari combined, so tey have to have a dlc..... I think,

About the Krogans, Quarians and Geth. They don't need to squish that into one game, as the foundations, plus some, have already been set in motion in ME2. Also, remember, the ME games have 40+ hours of gameplay, and Bioware is/are amazing storytellers. That said, these stories are too big for DLC.

Wrex and the Rachni will not be DLC because it was so easy to ruin that choice. They won't release DLC that half the players can't even use.

Wrex, Rachni, and Geth/Quarian problems are good story anchors and should be used as points in the third game. For example, helping the Krogan leader unify the Krogan give you the chance to have some help from Krogans in the "final battle". Same deal with the Geth and Quarians, allowing war between the two could leave the both too weak to help in the "final battle" but helping them coexhist would allow for a unified force to back Shepard. The Rachni could also help against the Reapers, not sure how as they are enigmatic but they could somehow. These choices would have to be implemented based on how you start the game. i.e. imported v.s vanilla character.

A good DLC should include new members of your party WITH real dialogue options, not generic one way conversations like Kasumi and Zaeed.. Hope the new DLC will include "real" party members that have dialogue options.

A big problem with that is Bioware would to hire all the voice actors again to record new dialogue. It's not going to happen.

Why not ??? I think, that they try to use as much voice actors from ME 2 for ME 3 as possible. So if they pay the shepard one for ME 3, they could do a DLC with him for ME 2. Even if I don´t believe, that there will be any more DLC for ME 2.

How about a dlc where the taurian ambassador has a favor to ask shepard, that way we can get more of his opinions on what "really" happened on the citadel and just how much of a threat "the reapers" are to the galaxy :)

Spectre Mission could be interesting and could work because you could fit it in pretty much anytime after you get your status back, meaning you don't need to have completed the game, which is something bioware obviously seem to like how their DLC work

Its also something that shouldn't massively effect (no pun intended) ME3's story, therefore those who don't buy it don't miss out on a major chunck of plot when its released.

As for things like the Geth/Quarian war, the Genophage and the Rachni, these are all things too important to the plot that if certain players don't buy the DLC they'll have missed a lot of story. That and I'm sure Bioware are saving these stories for ME3 otherwise there won't be as much of a broad spectrum of plots.
Don't get me wong, I would LOVE them to be released as DLC, the more ME the better in my opinion. But from Bioware's point of view, they'd probably just be taking from the ME3 and have to fill the blanks with more planet scanning :P

But yeah, like the Spectre idea

I would love a DLC that brings you to EARTH! That would be epic to see Shephard fighting Geth on Earth!

Earth would be pretty awesome, although if you've done legions loyalty mission it'd go against the plot to be fighting geth....

if you go paragon, you get your spectre status back whenever you first visit anderson.

because of that, there will be no dlc for it.

gamestop sells individual DLC cards for Xbox 360 and has Kasumi, shadow broker, and overlord. If you go to one that is nice they may give you the individual cards if you ask them. Otherwise its just a code printed out on a receipt.

So, still no word from Bioware on whether there will be more DLCs in the future?

Is this the end for Mass Effect 2?

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this already effectively solved in Legion's loyalty mission?

I don't think so, that deals with the hectics but the geth still occupy their homeworld. They went to war with the quarians as a group and later spilt into the two factions. Maybe diplomatic solutions can be reached now though!
