The point of romance?



Seriously?



Then what is the point of the NPC having any interactions whatsoever? What is the point of Hawke having a sister/friends/any sort of meaningful interactions? Perhaps the best form of the game for you would be if Hawke was just a sort of indistinguishable blob and each time there is an enemy encounter you can click "Fight" or "Run".



Its to seem more like a sentient being with preferences and flaws, OBVIOUSLY, jeez, why does this have to be explained.

In prince of persia sands of time trilogy in the second chapter the warrior within, if the prince doesn't romance Kaileena ( canon is he does ) then prince of persia the two thrones ( third part ) doesn't take place.

It's ofcourse about getting a special sword gameplay wise, but still...

In Kotor a romance has a big influance on whether your character will be darkside or lightside. Player can make any choice ofcourse, but it kinda has logical impact.

Romance is just an optional sidequest and just like most sidequests in DAO, it only affects certain characters and doesn't have some major impact on the world.

They never said that the story is about Thedas and nothing else. The comment/interview/whatever that I read said that Thedas is a character in and of itself. I'd ask you to please stop taking everything so literal, but I doubt that'd happen.

They make the game more immersive thats it.

Also they make it better I feel zero attachement to a Bethesda world and feel much more connected to Bioware ones.

Seriously though, the games tell the story of Thedas and how it was shaped by the player characters by telling those characters' personal stories. In the grand scheme of things, does my warden's relationship with Zevran really matter? Probably not, but from the warden's perspective his relationship with Zevran is as important if not more so than anything else he did.

Because Bioware creates amazing characters, romancing or becoming friends them adds more to the role playing experience.
