If any of you recall one of the developers said The Dragon age games are about the world of thedas. so whats the point of having a romance if it does'nt mean anything or impact the world of Thedas (well maybe a Flemmeth Romance would) are romances just put in a game  to make people happy. also could the developer who said that please tell me i forgot your name my bad. also we are playing hawkes rise to power and how that affects Thedas is unknown but how would a romance change or impact Thedas?

I would be perfectly okay with there being no romance but its become such an EXPECTED staple of bioware games sometimes its put in there just to be there.

However, it would be novel if a spouse who will be your king or queen can affect Thedas quite dramatically.  That would be a good storyline rather than a romance in my book.  If romance is in it and conflicts between marrying someone who could be better for Thedas versus someone you merely love would be an interesting conflicted choice to make.  Thats the way I would want romance to affect the story in DA2.

alas, bioware could just settle for our 4 or 5 LI choices in the game and it will be just be a "tee hee" moment.

Okay, this is just my perspective, I could be wrong, but....



Dragon Age, the series, is about the world, not a single charater. Each game however, focuses on the story of a single group of people. Romances are a part of that individual story.

sooo back to my first question how would romance affect Thedas?

Well, Thedas is both a continent and if the people knew about planets the planet they stand on.  There is plenty of romance involvement for Thedas.  There is mutual attraction between it and every other body of mass in the universe.  The moon, the Sun, the super massive blackhole at the center of the galaxy, the rest of the galaxies.  Thedas may be a bit... loose... when it comes to romance but there you have it.  That is how romance afftects Thedas.

If nothing else the romance just makes the story that much more engaging. Besides, they want you to feel some sort of emotion from the game, right? To question your decisions. That's what the LI's make you do. How many people left the chantry sister to beg because Morrigan aproved?

The romances do affect decisions.



For me, it was really different, and nice to have the option. DA:O was the first game I played that gave me that option *well, I did play Fable 2, but it seemed more like a quest than a choice ...* But anyway, it was nice to have the whole, "I can go stabby-stabby while he makes me a sandwhich? Deal!"

It added to the experience.
